Off to a Fresh Start

After getting destroyed by the Wizards on Tuesday and then recovering against the champion Celtics on Wednesday, I was really hoping that the Dubs would come out and play hard with some good energy. Lucky for me, that's exactly what happened. We started with a 15-4 lead and BAM, I started having faith again.

On silly R Dizzle, why would you ever have faith in the Warriors?

Before we knew it though, the Cavs pulled it back and at the end of the 1st it was 32 to 29 - Warriors.

Cool Beans - cept not really cause he didn't play that well.

What goes up...must come down. And unfortunately for us, it wasn't the ball into the hoop. Coming off a fiery first quarter, everyone forgot how to shoot, and nothing seemed to go in. Don't believe me? Let's look at some stat lines shall we?

Betcha that didn't go in

Corey Maggette - 3/11 on the field.

Stephen Jackson - 2/11.

Jamal Crawford - 6/14 from the field and 2/6 from the 3 point line.

Beans - 2/5 for 8 points and 7 boards.

The Collapse II

Third Quarter's don't seem to fair to well for the Warriors these days seeing as though they only scored 16 points and the Cavs pulled out 36 points.

Whateves - at least we got to see the young kinds put in some good time.

Anthony Randolph isn't looking SO bad for a young rookie - the guy obviously has a lot of energy and plays with a lot of heart. I see this man hustling and putting it in on every play. However, it is VERY obvious that he needs to stop dribbling the ball down and shooting every J that comes his way. He's no Stephen Jackson and nor should he try to be. He's getting some monster blocks every now and as long as he can stop pulling silly shots...he's got the making for a great player in the future.

Brandan Wright - same ol same ol from this guy. He needs more playing time to define himself and come into his own identity. I'm still going with the potential card but we'll see what comes of it.

Anthony Morrow - 2 for 6, 5 points, 4 boards. Looks like he came back down to earth...

The 4th Quarter

Didn't really pay attention, not much to see except...

He's going to be starting by the end of the year - I guarantee it!

LeBron James and The Cavs

Maaaaaan they are looking good. It's just Bron Bron either, all of the Cavs players are playing superior ball and are sharing the hotness together. The Celtics are going to have a run for their money deep in the playoffs and it'll be interesting to see if the Cavs can keep this type of ball play throughout the year. Either way, they adjusted well to Nellie ball and as Don Nelson said at the end of the game,

"They had their way with us in the second half," Golden State coach Don Nelson said.

No no, I'm not talking about how LeBron's going there in 2 years, in fact, why don't we not even discuss that topic cause I don't want to think about who's going to be on the Knicks then...

I seriously hope we don't end up 0-5 at the end of this road trip. WE CAN BEAT THE KNICKS. JC will light it up..just you wait!

FURTHERMORE, I seriously hope someone blocks the crap out of Al Harrington...hope he gets what he wanted...

Ah yes, tis the day to buy stuff. Anyone ever wonder why today is called Black Friday? Well my fave website wikipedia came up with this...

The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that day. (see 'Origin of the name' below) More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit).

Interesting...interesting.

I've been looking for deals all day and I have come up with some really good ones including my brand new Canon Powershot 770 IS off Amazon. Tis a nice find if I do say so myself.

But the one thing I have yet to find on this Black Friday is a deal with this guy

for a combined salary of $10 mil a year for 5 years after 2010 when they all become free agents. What gives?

And ya know what REALLY grinds my gears....

The Cavs are on FIIIIIIIREEEE. 11 victories in 12 games? Shooting 60.8 percent? And LeBron chillin on the bench for the majority of the last few games?

While the Cavs are playing their best ball in the last few years, the Dubs are...doing the exact opposite. I commend the effort against the Celtics on Wednesday night, BUT letting a 14 point deficient go doesn't really make me too happy.

But this isn't about me, an average Joe fan, its about the owners and making money.

About 5 seconds into the game, I lost my excitement to watch the game.

As I sit here with my bottle of Chocolate Nesquick, all I can do is ask...WHY?!?!

And then a few more things.

1. If the Warriors fell off tonight, lost to the WORST team in the NBA, would I still be a fan?

Our newest acquisition, Jamal Crawford, will get his first opportunity to drop 20 points for Dubs and bring some new life to the Warriors. Sure sure, I'm excited, but what does Jamal think about the whole trade?

It feels so good. It feels so good. Honestly, I think this system fits me better than any system in the league. Coming here with coach Nelson, a Hall of Fame coach … it’s re-energizing. I’m excited.

What better way to bring in our newest player than by playing the worst team in the NBA? First they throw out a max contract for Gilbert (which we did too) and...he can't play til January. Then they lost another starter, Brenden Haywood. AND THEN they lost to an undermanned Knicks team, who only had 7 active players. Well, that sucks.

And the cherry on top - they fired their head coach, Eddie Jordan, while he was handing out turkeys for a charity event. Talk about unclassy...

Well, that's obviously horrible karma, sooo...easy win?

Question: Who can take away our 12 point lead in the 3rd Quarter?

Answer: The Answer.

Yet another loss. But, for a game that we weren't supposed to even contend in, we put a good fight for the first 30 minutes. Things were going smoothly, shots were being made, defense was being played, the Pistons were gettin boxed out, and it looked like we were going to beat a team that we stood no chance against...but, its 2008.

And in the words of Atma Brother #1 - WE BELIEVE IS DEAD.

Isn't this guy supposed to be 33? How is HE the fastest guy on the court still? Man, I've always been a fan of A.I. and tonight he showcased why he's ranked third all time in scoring average per game. And his cross-over? Still got it.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't anyone make a ridiculous trade idea for us to get A.I. at any point? Sure, he's got he's contract and he was part of a division rival, but there were even more ridiculous proposals...Tim Duncan anyone?

Imagine - Allen Iverson + Monta Ellis + Corey Maggette + Stephen Jackson + Andris.

The dunk heard across the world

Except it wasn't a thunderous "SONIC BOOM". Instead it was more of a "CLANG" or a "BOINK." There's no way that I can possibly say one missed shot, or one missed dunk is what causes us to lose the game, but man, that was one heck of a momentum killer. We come into the 2nd half up by 7, make shots early in the 3rd to bring the lead to 13, have the energy of the crowd, and...Andris misses an open dunk. I know I know, I can't put the blame on him, especially seeing as though he's getting a double-double every game, but that was the spark that led the fire in the Pistons. It happens, but that was a terrible way to go out.

Speaking of Andris, give this man props for getting his 16th consecutive double-double in the first half. Good work Beans!

Rasheeeeed Wallace!

I thought this man was going to win the game for us. A tipped in shot and two missed free throws? I couldn't have asked for more from 'Sheed in the last few minutes of a tight game. Check out what he said about that tipped in shot -

"That really hurt my feelings, that tip," Wallace said. "You can't let that frustrate you. I missed two point-blank foul shots. I'm upset at myself about that. You can't let that one thing get you down. That's what we did, just dug deep and came up with some stops down the stretch."

Didn't know the guy had feelings to begin with. I had faith in the old man Wallace but I seemed to have forgotten a very crucial detail about Sheed.

He was the best three point shooter on the court all game.

Two back to back 3 pointers late in the game = loss for Warriors.

Hey, I understand it's hard for CJ to guard Iverson. That's like me trying to guard Rob Kurz - it's an unfair match up in every way. But that does not excuse the mental mistakes or the crucial missed free throws. How in the world are you going to play in the NBA and step over the line on an inbound pass? I thought that's the stuff you learn not to do in middle school!

Lead scorer on the Warriors, fine, but we need more assists out of CJ! Man, is this the time to start yelling for Monta?

The Old Guys

It was good to see Maggs back on the court slashing and doing his thing. 13 points in his first game back isn't bad at all. However, it is pretty apparent that he's nto 100% as he tried to take as many outside shots as possible. Hopefully by early next week, he'll be back to his old self getting into the lane and finding his way to the foul line.

As for SJax, he was his same old self. I can't knock this guy for trying but going 5-19 isn't going to cut it if he's going to lead the team. We CANNOT live and die by one player, but he's going to have to do better. I'm sure playing 42+ minutes plus every game isn't helping, so I really hope he finds some time off on Saturday against the Clipps. I will mention this - he is being much more selective about the 3s. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is something only time will tell.

Game #9: Warriors vs Pistons - We Talkin' Bout PRACTICE

I'm NEVER going back to the Finals? Then why did I go to the Pistons?!?!

The Pistons made a blockbuster trade and...they lose two straight. But hey, Iverson got his first win as a Piston by destroying the dominating Kings. I f we couldn't beat them, they have to be good, right? ...Right?

Here's what I see for this game - ENERGY. Although Tuesday's victory against the Wolves wasn't a pretty one, a win is a win, and I think that brought some confidence in the young'ns. It was amazing watching Morrow drain those two three's and I can forsee this man taking Al's role as a 3 point specialist.

A.I. and crew have a deep team, they look better on paper, but they got nothin' on us!

As one of the Warrior Girls said to me at the game on Tuesday - WE STILL BELIEVE!

Ok, that didn't really happen...but I can pretend right?

We trade Al Harrington at the beginning of the game for the Rock Band 2 Special Edition Bundle. The Halftime show is Rob Kurz singing "Eye of the Tiger" with Morrow on the lead guitar, DeMarcus Nelson on bass, and Turiaf on the drums. The crowd goes wild and stays to see if there's an encore after the game.
Andris gets another double-double...sigh. How bout a triple-double already? I see ya taking the ball up Andris! 12 ASSISTS!!
Ron Ron gets hyphy on the sidelines as Morrow drains four 3's
I get knocked out by my buddy and miss the 4th quarter cause I keep yelling "YOU GOT THE ANSWER, BUT WHAT'S THE QUESTION?"

Now that wasn't a pretty game. I found myself distraught as the last second ticked off the clock and I said, "What could I possibly do to make myself feel better about this?"

That was obscure, I know. Point is - OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay destroyed us tonight. Granted Rudy Gay started off terribly, but as soon as the 2nd half hit, something just happened to click in him and he went lights out during the 4th. Cool! As for OJ Mayo, the Grizzlies made a good trade draft day to acquire him. Mike Miller was a Warrior Killer, but looks like OJ's ready to step up and take role. Yay!

Hakim Warrick - high flyin, high powered, and monster jams. That's how you destroy a team's confidence late in a game. How do we get this guy on the Warriors?

More bad news - I didn't get to see my boy Darko Milicic play! I really haven't had much of a chance to see him play, and seeing as though he was drafted 2nd overall and above Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Chris Kaman, Mickael Pietrus, David West, Zarko Cabarkapa, Boris Diaw, Travis Outlaw, Kendrick Perkins, Leandro Barbosa, Josh Howard, Jason Kapono, and Luke Walton (alright that last one's a stretch), he's got to be good, right? Oh well, maybe next time he won't get two techs.

But hark, there was some good news! Marc Gasol found himself deep in foul trouble early and was kept ot less than 20 minutes on the court.

Ah wait, no way, you're kidding, that isn't who I think it is, is it?

Oh but it is! Our first-round draft pick of this year was brought into the game early in the 1st quarter. Who in the heck believed Nellie would even play this guy at all before the 10th game of the season? 17 minutes, 8 points, 7 boards, and 1 monster block. Not too shabby for a first time (that minute the other day doesn't count) out!

Doesn't he kind of look like a stretched out Sam Cassell?

And Marcus Williams? I thought this guy was supposed to sit on the bench all game? He's not our long term solution at PG, but he showed some talent in his passing abilities.

Shouldn't have had that Big Mac before the game man.

A double-double a game...

Makes Andris hold the longest active streak for double-doubles in the NBA as well as tied for the longest streak by a Warriors player since Nate Thurmond. Good work as always Beans.

The 4th Quarter

I feel like I've already written this before in another recap...but second time's the charm!

Again, we witnessed another collapse. Just when things were getting exciting in the last 5 minutes and we regained the lead, bad shots were taken, poor decisions were made, and the Grizzlies players decided to flip the "on" switch on the jumpers. In these situations, it's Jack's responsibility to lead the team to victory and not make costly mistakes. Didn't happen, but I will commend him on recognizing that.

"We didn't play hard enough," said Jackson, who was guarding Gay when the Grizzlies' forward made his pivotal 3-pointer. "Down the stretch I am the leader of the team, s I've got to be smarter and can't give up a wide open three to their best player at the end of the game."

Yet another game we should have won. Oh well!

Time to Rise Above It!

Next up - the Wack-town Kings! Should be a guaranteed win, but hey, that's what I said about both Grizzlies games. Maybe I should just predict losses from now on so I don't get disappointed.

However, the good news is that Nellie seems to trust B Wright and even Anthony Randolph. It'll be interesting to see what these guys can do this early in the season.

I'll also have fun watching Nellie put Belinelli on the court in order to increase in trade value and fail miserably at everything. What happened to this guy being a shooter?

Sadly, Al's time as a Warrior might also be over....

CJ Watson. I'm lovin' this guy's hustle and energy on both sides of the court. He made some nice shots and assists, but he put in the extra effort by crashing the boards. Looks like the PG situation ain't too bad...

Yeah baby!

Alright, admit it. That game wasn't pretty nor was it that exciting to watch (go free league pass!). But we finally finished a game strong and came out with win #1.

Back to back games do not fair well

It was pretty obvious that all of our guys were extremely tired off Friday night's loss. The energy in the IZOD Center was low and Maggette and Jackson both were slower and played with less energy than usual. Yet somehow they both pulled out 41 minutes and 20+ points. Good work guys, and something must have clicked last night cause they both finished the game strong.

The kids

Brandan Wright - 7 minutes, 0 points, 1 block, and 1 foul? This was supposed to equal J-Rich? Right...

CJ Watson - Nellie finally decided to give CJ some good burn, and he played decently. He still needs to work on the FTs (50% from the line?) but he's developing slowly but surely. Mad props for taking it strong to the hoop and drawing fouls. Just make sure to not get destroyed by Brook Lopez next time.

DeMarcus Nelson - I've been pretty critical of him to this point, but he put up some good numbers yesterday - 4 for 6, 9 points, and 3 assists. In a few more games we'll be able to tell if this guy's got what it takes to keep the starting PG. He's learning quickly and he deserves his props.

You deserve better Vince. You deserve better.

I thought we were young...

Where at the vets on the Nets? This team is YOUNG. Lotta talent, but no experience and it showed last night. Vince and Josh Boone played well, but what about the others? Yi? 18 mins and 0 points? Where you at man?

At least boy Eduardo Najera brought it hard. Right...

The game just felt SLOW. I thought we were down the whole time seeing as though The Dubs brought no energy. But hey, apparently the Nets didn't either.

Opening Night at the IZOD Center is like going to Urkel's Birthday Party

Where the heck was everyone?

Wasn't that supposed to be Opening Night in New Jersey? Where was the free giveaway? Where was the excitement? Man, I would hate to be a part of the New Jersey team with no one supporting them!

Where's Jay-Z at? Go talk to LeBron and start building that new stadium in Brooklyn man...

One more game to this road trip. The Grizzlies have another young and talented team and it'll be interesting to see how the Warriors match up to em. Hopefully the day off gives everyone some much needed energy.

Andris Biedrins. Hustled hard for the third game in the row and brought it with 23 points, 11 boards, and 2 blocks. I said it after Friday's game and I'll say it again, there is confidence in this kid this year. Three double-double's in a row? Good work.

Who do the Nets have anyway? Devin Harris? He's still scared from his beatdown during the 2k7 playoffs! Vince Carter? Waaay past his prime (ignore the 21 points on the season opener). Richard Jefferson? Whatever man..
