Cat Scratch Reader Panthers in NFL Play 60 commercial

Everyone know those catchy/annoying NFL Play 60 commercials with the Falcons and Bears that has the song that goes "yadda yadda yadda yadda jump on the bus!"? Looks like we are the next team to be featured in it.

According to Scott Fowler, it is very close to happening.

I'd hate to see this, but it's kind of hard to hate him after all he's done for us over the years.

Cat Scratch Reader Time to hate on the Yahoo! Sport Blogs again!

I don't know why, but the Yahoo! blog writers really seem to just dislike us for whatever reason. Not only do they name us one of the top five losers in free agency, but didn't even get our record from last year right. We went 1-15 in 2001, not last year.

Anyone else catch this tweet from former UNC CB Kendric Burney? Looks like he may be a Panther now.

Cat Scratch Reader Panthers projected to have highest salary cap space

According to our good friends at Yahoo! Sports Blogs (who didn't take a shot at us this time), the Carolina Panthers are projected to have the highest cap space in the NFL in this pre-CBA scenario. Keep in mind that these numbers are approximate and doesn't include signing our free agents like Charles Johnson, DeAngelo Williams and James Anderson.

The article also explains some of the financial mumbogumbo of the CBA and the possibility of a minimum amount of money spent by teams.

Cat Scratch Reader Cam Newton Working Out with Former Chudzinski QB Dorsey

Peter King talks about it in his column this week. First it was Chris Weinke. Now Cam is working with former Miami great Ken Dorsey. Why is this important? Well...

From King:

There's a good reason Dorsey and Newton have become workout and classroom partners. In 2001 and 2002, Dorsey, at Miami, was coached by Hurricane offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski. In 2007 and 2008, Dorsey, with the Cleveland Browns, was coached by Browns offensive coordinator Chudzinski.

ProFootballFocus also tweeted earlier that they loved the move. They said Dorsey was always a very bright QB, but limited physically. Sounds like a good guy to teach Cam.

I think this is a great move by Cam. It's nice to see him working so far with so many different QBs, especially after his work ethic was thrown into question and all. So who is your guess for next on the list of former QBs Cam works with?

Comment by Jaxon: I realize we've discussed this already but I found the added tweet comments interesting that the Panthers supposedly en-dorsey-ed the move (pun intended). So Dorsey was a bright student? But he went to Miami...;) I kid, I kid. I don't want Beast-on mad at me!

Cat Scratch Reader Pat Yasinskas defends the Panthers

It's nice to see a guy who has ripped the Panthers so much in the past defend us in a situation like this. I'd love to know what else that moron from New York and what his logic (besides that we suck this year) was for wanting to move us to Los Angeles. I'm sure the fans in New York would be MUCH worse than we have been if the Giants or Jets had a year like ours.

Even with the injury to TD, they really seem to like our LB corp, especially Beason. I gotta agree with him. Losing TD is big but I think we have plenty of depth at LB to help make up for the loss.

Cat Scratch Reader Interesting Quote from Brad Hoover

Got this from our good friend Pat Yasinskas.

Hoover, who is a pretty sharp guy, said it appears to him as if the Panthers are “putting themselves in a good opportunity for failure." Hoover took the high road the rest of the interview, but he might have had a point when he said the offseason moves have taken a lot of leadership away from the Panthers.

True Blue LA Remember the Back to Back to Back to Back HR night against the Padres?

I do, and I need some help from everyone here. I have been dying to see a video of the game (or just the 9th and 10th innings or even highlights) recently and can't find it anywhere. It is ridiculous I say! One of the greatest games in Dodger history and it cannot be found anywhere online. How does this happen? Anyway, does anyone know where I can find this? I will be eternally grateful.

Cat Scratch Reader 3 More Panthers Selected as Pro Bowl Alternates

According to David Scott, Jon Beason, Ryan Kalil and Steve Smith were all selected as 2nd alternates for the Pro Bowl.

First, congrats to all three. Second, 2nd alternate? I understand that London Fletcher is having a good season, but I find it hard to believe he deserves it more than Beason, especially considering that (in my opinion) Fletcher has more defensive help than Beason does. I mean, he's playing behind the $100 million man, Albert Haynesworth. Last I checked (and it has been well noted on this site), Beason was second in the league in tackles and he was just named Defensive Player of the Week. I think he deserves just a little more national attention then he is getting. Third, I'm so happy for Kalil. Here is a guy you have been hearing nothing about all year (the way it should be with offensive linemen) and has done a great job with an offensive line that has now lost its two starting tackles. Can't wait to have him, Otah and Gross back next year (actually just can't wait for next year in general). Fourth, what else can be said about Steve Smith that hasn't been said already? Nothing. So I won't try to add anything else here.

Cat Scratch Reader Two Panthers Named To Pro Bowl

Congrats to DeAngelo Williams and Julius Peppers, the later being named a starter for the game. Here's the full list of who made it.

http://www.nfl.com/probowl/story?id=09000d5d8155c2fa&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Don't know when the list of alternates will be released (I imagine it will be real soon), but Jon Beason better be on it. The man has been the heart and soul of a defense that has dealt with injuries all season long and has put up some incredible numbers as well. I'd personally rather see him starting instead of Jonathan Vilma. You could make the argument for Steve Smith as well, though he wouldn't even play in the Pro Bowl if he made it thanks to that broken arm. What do you guys think?

Steve Smith gives the best postgame interview in Panthers history

I'm kinda surprised no one has posted this yet. But this shows why I love Steve so much. He will always give his all no matter what the team record is and I love how he always plays with a chip on his shoulder. Not to mention he has some great soundbites and is just hilarious.
