Very nice collection of photos from last Saturdays game. From Lubbock Fox channel 34. Right click the link and open in new tab.
I ran across this article from Mac Engle of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. I expected this short piece to go a certain direction, but instead stood at a cross road of four different paths. A past star who faded. A coach who wants to promote all his stars on the team and not just one. A monopoly pumping kiddie drugs over the airwaves. A frenzy for a name on a piece of paper. I'm sure someone could turn this article into a book.
From Mike Graham of Dallas Morning News and RedRaiderSports.com Guy Bailey believes the Big East lawsuit will be complete by Feb 1 so the Big 12 Directors can make a 2012 football schedule on Feb 2. I don't believe the lawsuit goes away that fast without a large amount of cash changing hands. Here is another link http://www.fbschedules.com/2012/01/texas-tech-president-hopeful-west-virginia-big-12-2012/
The Dallas Morning News has even more articles if you follow the link. Tech goes to at least the Holiday Bowl, Tubs has his best season, Doege is even more Doege, and Kenny Williams has a great year. If nothing else, the photos are top notch. Sorry, the link does not open in a new window.
With the current coaching storm going on, I have kind of forgotten where we left off in the saga Big 12-2, minus aTm, minus MU, plus TCU, plus WVU? The Big East has sued West Virginia to honor the contract for another two years. Of course WVU has counter sued. There is the 2012 football schedule to think about. Big 12 (Interim) Commissioner Chuck Neinas said "scheduling is not as difficult as it sounds. You try to balance it. For example West Virginia would like to have Oklahoma (in Morgantown) one year and Texas another year. They don't want them both the same year."
Article from USA Today regarding ESPN muscle tactics to grow their monopoly.
I ran across this AP article on CBS DFW. "Texas officials said Wednesday they are open to a new revenue-sharing model in the Big 12 and have already suggested that top-level television and cable money be shared equally." "But Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds says Texas doesn’t want to share the money from its Longhorn Network, a 20-year, $300 million deal with ESPN."
The University of Texas signed a 20 year TV deal with ESPN. Now all they have to do is win games at home.
