Don't know about everybody else, but I was pretty impressed with Doege last night. The OLine wasn't doing him any favors, but for a new starter I thought he made good decisions and he made some VERY nice throws. I thought I'd put together a little comparison to see how his debut stacked up against his predecessors.

I don't have very vivid memories of any of these except Potts in '09. Didn't have much of a critical eye before then anyway. But what we saw from Potts in '09 was certainly a sign of things to come (i.e. throwing off his back foot, prone to interceptions, etc.). If what we saw from Doege was a sign of things to come, then I think he'll be just fine.

Just looking at the numbers on paper, I think you'd have to say Hodges had the most impressive debut - certainly the most efficient anyway. For a guy that went on to put up ridiculous numbers, Symons had a pretty pedestrian debut. I'm surprised Cumbie's arm didn't fall off after a 66 attempt debut. 

I think Doege's numbers paint a pretty accurate picture of the game. Good accuracy, good decisions (no INT's) and big plays (thank you Darrin Moore). Although I do remember one near interception by a DL or LB near the line of scrimmage that was dropped. And I think some of the shots down the field to Moore could have been picked off by bigger, more athletic CBs, but I'm sure the game plan will be adjusted accordingly when we face better competition. Solid debut in my book.
