Leach was more a West Texan than those that Lynched him
It is obvious to me that some of the players that were in the dog house with Leach that have come forward will not come to his defense. Rare is it even with "adults" that they can look past their own shortcomings and see what is best for them. And maybe.. just maybe a particular young man's recent comments, (Batch) while not publicly understood may have had underlying resentment to Leach. Remember Jeffers and Stephens, (both freshmen I think) were given considerable playing time it seemed to me at the expense of Batch. Just maybe. Also while there will be other players who will probably come out of the "closet", (pun intended) against Mike, it can be expected that the disciplinarian Mike Leach won't always have many player friends. As a parent the analogy is very clear for me. You are their parent/coach NOT their friend or all HELL breaks loose. What we are witnessing in some of these recent player comments is that the parent/coach is no longer at the helm of the family/team so "I can wear face paint again" Carter is a great example. He may not know it now but Leach was the best thing for that "misfit" kid who ransacked the locker room. We would get the same reaction from players I promise you if it was Mack Brown, Bob Stoops or whoever. This is human nature for some of the young undisciplined, wild at heart, late teen, early 20 somethings - and to be expected. BTW, Leach's public comments of Adam James was a blessing in disguise to that kid. If he is going to confront his coach publicly like he did when he "taunted" and "mocked" his authority walking onto the practice field as he did, (he might as well just held up his middle finger) pretending to be a "Man', then he should be able to take what was dished out by Leach publicly like a MAN! Adam was rightly disciplined "publicly" because he misbehaved publicly and disingenuously. Unless there is something somewhere Leach has done hidden in some "larger closet", (it would have probably been out by now) this was a despicable, unjust, un-Techsan and certainly non West Texan way to treat a real MAN. Again, ironically if there was ever a true West Texan who represented our values it was Leach. Certainly not those at the "helm" of this great university. But then again what should we expect as they acted with impunity and no different than some of our late teen, early 20 something players who couldn't respect or honor any accountability to values, integrity or excellence. While I may excuse our "youth" I can not excuse our administrators. And there WILL be accountability. Thankfully we do live in a society built around justice - the legal system, and democracy - the voters. I would bet Adam James Texas Tech degree and his dad's next job that our elected officials from Governor Perry on down that it will not be lost on them the tyrannical childish behavior these administrators perpetrated on the good name and people of West Texas and their "Captain" because if THEY don't these West Texas voters will not. A call to action - We need to right this wrong and get Leach back.
IMAGINE IT AND WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN. We just need to believe it FIRST!
As impossible as it may seem at this juncture…It isn’t ....if only we are all willing to do something about it. Based on the recent comments from Leach we need a ground swell of local, alumni and Raider Nation fan support to right this wrong and get Leach back! Whatever it takes we can get this decision reversed. There is no reason it can’t be. We need a call to action. Based on what has now come to light we MUST. If we are all about character, fairness and excellence then let’s not just sit here and accept this. Let’s kick that ball now and begin the “game” to get Leach back. If there is one thing Mike has taught us – we always have an opportunity if only we apply ourselves and give it everything we’ve got. Whether it’s protest, emails, phone calls, letters to our administration, elected officials etc. While I've read some ideas here let’s post up any other things we can do.
Let's text, facebook etc everyone of our Red Raider faithful tonight and tomorrow to viral market through text email facebook their Red Raider faithful to truly protest at the game by holding up signs etc to get Leach back! We need to instruct them as well to BOYCOTT the first quarter. IT WOULD DEFINITELY send a signal to the media, administration and Mike of THINGS to come!!! Just maybe we’ll be able to garner the support as well across the country of others who will recognize this injustice. But we cannot let up. Being successful it would/will be the most awesome significant and amazing thing we can do as The Red Raider Nation. Let’s not underestimate the power of the Red and Black family especially in the digital media age today! It’s only too late if we choose to accept that!
This is OUR school. IMAGINE IT and LETS DO IT. We owe it to our school. We owe it to our future. We owe it to Mike. After the jump enclosed is the body of text to viral market to our Tech friends and family....
