I cautiously ask, how 'bout a Tigers pitcher?

From mlb's main page: "A dog-eared rumor was revived by the Boston Globe, which reported the Tigers and Red Sox are still considering a trade of a Detroit left-hander -- either Nate Robertson or Dontrelle Willis -- for shortstop Julio Lugo."

Anyone up for trading Aybar straight up for either of those guys? If trading for Peavey is too costly? Or would it be better to just bring up a rookie? I know they both have had questionable performances recently, but we wouldn't have to give up the farm, we could keep our money for signing Tex, and just pray whichever guy we take turns it around next year. Either guy would most likely at least pitch as well as Garland did last year.

Besides, I've always liked both of their styles. Robertson is frickin Rick Vaughn, and Willis might beat Vlad in a smiling contest.

OK, go ahead and blast me.

So, I was thinking. The Big A broke 3 million in attendance again this year. If each of those fans donated $7 to Mark Teixiera, he'd get $21 million for a season. Who's with me? Get out your Sparkletts jugs!

I will be leaving for Europe on Oct 27th. That's scheduled to be game 5 of the WS. I'm not happy about it, but I'm trying to figure out how I'll be able to at least watch games 6 and 7 over there if the Angels a) get to the WS, and b) don't win it in 5 or less.

Brandon Wood last week

B Wood went 5 for 14, hitting .357, over the last week. That's 3rd on the team behind Spidii and Tush. Yes, it is a very small sample size, but encouraging none the less. I'm also psyched that all his hits were singles, including the suicide squeeze. That means either he's shortened up his swing, or just getting lucky. Note also that he struck out only 3 times, the same number as Teixiera and Figgins among others.

When Kendrick and Aybar went down, my reaction was that if either Wood or SRod could figure things out quickly, we'd be ok (or if one of our catcher's bats caught on fire). So far, Wood is the man of destiny.

Do you think Wood will continue to hit this week, or was he just a beneficiary of TX pitching? Discuss.

Which type of Angel's win do you prefer?

The first half of the Angels 2008 campaign was generally characterized by low scoring wins featuring excellent pitching. Conversely, the second half thus far has been characterized by offensive shellackings of the competition.

As I listened to the 8 run 8th inning in today's spanking of the Spanks, I noticed that I was having a heck of a lot of fun. Let's put it this way, my finger nails have had a chance to grow out in the past few weeks.

So, my question to all of you is, which type of win do you enjoy more, the nail biter or the slug fest?

P.S. Isn't it sweet to even be able to ask the question, "Which type of Angel's win do you prefer?" Big wheel keep on turnin'!

The pitcher's duel is the epitome of baseball as the thinking man's sport.

In the wake of the Tush deal, and the Man Ram exit, I've read some comments from people essentially saying we're a lock for the world series. All I have to say is, whoa there! Easy does it. I'm excited too, but, go way back to your Sunday school days, think hard. What does pride come before? That's right, a fall! Let's not jinx things and bring on another pink eye epidemic. The Angels are still just as human as they were before these deals. Their hammies are just as vulnerable as anyone elses. Let's all chant the Scioscia mantra. "One day at a time. One day at a time..."

So, my check engine light came on the other day. Thanks to the Angels AM 830, I knew where to go. Double A, honk honk, M-C-O. True to their word, they checked it out for free, in just minutes. The diagnosis? My gas cap was not screwed on properly. Did I feel like a moron? Yes. But did I PAY to feel like a moron? No. Thanks Aamco. Thanks Arte.

So, guess who rang my mom as she worked at her desk yesterday? Yup, Angels Vice President of Communications, Tim Mead. She had written him a letter at the beginning of the season expressing her (and many others) disappointment in the Angels coverage in the Santa Barbara area, and he was responding to the letter. They spoke for about 15 minutes.

In a nutshell, what Mr. Mead told my mom is that the Angels are very aware of the need for better coverage in Santa Barbara County. He said they are actively looking into affiliates for T.V. and radio. He also said he is fairly confident they can even have something in place for the remainder of this current season. Mr. Mead commended my mom for writing her letter, and encouraged her to tell other Angel fans to write in on the same subject. The more evidence he has that there is a market here, and money to be made, the easier it will be to convince all parties involved.

My mom said Tim Mead was very sincere, and not without a sense of humor. Although she had initially been upset that there seemed to be no response to her letter, she was pleasantly surprised to get a personal, and lengthy call. In my opinion, it's just more evidence that the Angels are the best team in baseball, from the field to the front office.

I know Cupie did an interview with Tim Mead not too long ago. Cupie, if you have it, would it be kosher to post his direct email address so we can all follow up on this? If not, you all can try to go through the official Angels page "Help/Contact us" link here, or you can go old school and send a snail mail letter to good ol' 2000 Gene Autry Way, Anaheim, CA, 92806.

I know many of you have called or written on behalf of us 805 Halo Fans. For that, we all thank you. It seems to be working. Maybe not as fast as we hoped, but the message is being heard. Now, we ask once more for your help in requesting, nay demanding, that the Angels be fully covered in the Santa Barbara area. Earn your halo. Be an Angels Activist! Okay, that's enough. I'm getting carried away.
