Originally from Newfoundland, I've been a Raptors fan since Isiah Thomas burst through that large paper Raptors logo on May 24, 1994. But I've been an NBA fan since the Lakers/Celtics rivalry of the 1980s. I'm also an avid baller, and the Nike Hyperdunk might be my favourite basketball shoe since the Air Jordan 5.

Raptors open to moving Bargnani

25

If this report by Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News is true, perhaps the Toronto Raptors are finally waking up to the realization that Andrea Bargnani is not a franchise player. At the very least, the Toronto media is jumping on the bandwagon. Could the Raptors jettison Bargnani and install Mike D'Antoni as head coach in the offseason? Leave us your thoughts in the comment section.

Jay Triano and the NBA Coaching Carousel

2

In the latest edition of Weekend Dime, ESPN's Mark Stein weighs in on Jay Triano's status as head coach. According to Stein, the Raptors have a team option on Triano for next season -- which the Raps are said to be leaning toward exercising -- but the sale of MLSE and Bryan Colangelo`s contract extension are the first dominoes that need to fall into place.

Number cruncher standing in way of Colangelo’s new contract

14

According to the Toronto Star's Dave Feschuk, Glen Silvestri, a representative of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, is the man standing in the way of Bryan Colangelo's contract extension. Well played, Mr. Silvestri. Unfortunately, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan might be selling their interest in the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors, meaning a Colangelo extension is still in play.

Groundhog Day: Raptors Reassign Alabi To Erie BayHawks

7

At this point, Solomon Alabi has to feel a lot like Bill Murray's character in Groundhog Day. The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday that Alabi has been reassigned to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. This will be Alabi’s third assignment to Erie. He has played a total of 11 games for the BayHawks where he has contributed averages of 8.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 22.1 minutes.

Proposed Alexis Ajinca deal remains under review

10

The Mavericks' proposed trade that would send little-used center Alexis Ajinca to Toronto and open a roster spot enabling the team to sign forward Peja Stojakovic when he clears waivers Monday afternoon remains under scrutiny by the league office. Mavs owner Mark Cuban said on Saturday he expected the league to approve the trade Monday, but Mavs president Donnie Nelson said the deal remains in a "holding pattern," although he, too, remains confident the league will ultimately approve it. UPDATE** The deal has now gone through. The Raptors acquired Ajinca, a future second-round draft pick and cash considerations from the Mavs in exchange for the draft rights to forward Giorgos Printezis.
