Arrowhead Pride A Great Football Week

The NFL is a great league made greater by wonderful fans cheering on their respective franchise's. I can think of no greater fans from a knowledgeable perspective than KC Chiefs fans. To exchange barbs, words and insight on the game the way I have this past week with  Kansas City Chiefs fans is as an ejoyable experience as I have ever had here in my brief 2 years of being a part of SB Nation football blogs. It is one thing to talk football. It is another thing to really talk football and you guy's are to be commended for improving the football IQ of this fan.

To be more specific, Chiefsfan85, averagegatsby, Bajah07, CPT .Caveman and hmills110 were great.  A special shout out to upamtn and neiowakcfan for being paticularly entertaining and hospitable.

Baltimore Beat Down The Week that was in the National Football League

Week 8 was awesome from a Ravens fans perspective. The Bengals played well early and then preceded to melt down as the Miami Dolphins heated up. Bengals QB Carson Palmer played well enough (not great) for his team win. The Bengals running game was not effective. Ochocinco and TO demonstrated that the inside breaking routes are not a consistent part of the route tree for them. Both Ochocinco and TO let Carson Palmer down at different times in the game and it really hurt the teams chances to win. TO’s stat line is impressive to those that didn’t watch the game. Not sure how the Bengals can recover from this loss at home. Marvin Lewis really has an up hill battle to get his team to play more consistent the last half of the season.

Baltimore Beat Down My 8 Point Plan (How I'd Attack the Jets)

The Big Game is upon us. I think the Ravens potentially have more weapons than the Pentagon. These are some of my thoughts on the game.

1. Attack with 11 personnel. This will allow  Boldin, Mason and Housh/Smith/Reed  to spread the field and go after Revis , Cromatie and Wilson. Is Revis in great football shape? Is Kyle Wilson ready to cover veteran WR's on the Ravens?

2. From 11 personnel use stack, diamond, bunch formations and rub routes with pick elements to free-up our WR's and confused the  DB's.  Also detach the TE to move the blitzers away from the formation. Use the sugar huddle to limit substitutions by the Jets.

3. In the run game. Call flip crack 90 and toss sweep to the Revis side of the field. Force Revis to come up in run support. Pull the tackle and blow him up. Can he holdup? Have the WR (Boldin or Houshmandzadeh) crack down on the DE.  This helps to seal it up.

4. Use 3x1 formations and throw to the weak side of the formation at Revis a couple times a quarter.

5. Whomever Revis is matched on have that WR run go (9) routes back to back to back further testing the limits of his conditioning.

6. Use short Z, X and Y motion to allow for cleaner releases off the line. This forces Revis and their DB's to use more energy.

7. Use the sugar huddle to limit substitutions by the Jets defensively. Another way to tire out the Jets defense.

8. Run some now routes and bubble screens to test the tackling ability of the Jets CB's. We already know about Cromatie’s disdain for contact.

Spreading the Jets out can help to neutralize the pass-rush of the Jets. With the Jets spread out on defense, Flacco reads should be more simplified. Ray Rice is a terrific back from spread sets. 11 and 10 personnel keeps the backs in the gameplan while giving the Ravens the opportunity to put the best personnel on the field.

Also, Flacco needs to keep an eye out for Jim Leonard. The Jets bring Leonard in a trail blitz behind the first blitzer in the same hole.

Go Ravens!!!!!
