What is the point of being a Nets fan
If DWill leaves and in turn Wallace leaves what is the point of being a Nets Fan?
I am really struggling to find reason to remain a diehard fan. Should I just push them to the side of my sports box. The Nets have been a struggle to watch for year now. But recently I feel as if they have done everything they can to make our product the best it can be and we still strike out. IF D-Will leaves we have a lineup of:
PG Unknown
SG Brooks, Ammo
SF Unknown
PF Hump?
C Lopez
That team is another rebuilding project ready to happen. So we go into Brooklyn and the jokes remain. The empty seats remain and more importantly the losing remains.
For once in my Nets fandom I can't blame the front office. A top 4-13 pick wouldn't keep Dwill nor will they be an immediate impact to our team. Its hard to put your neck out and continue to get it cut off. Williams isn't the nicest guy in the world but he is a Top 10 player who make Top 30 players much better. Proky, King, and Avery have done everything they can to make him believe in the plan. Why would another free agent want to take that risk. He has received marketing deals and has seen his name in lights. But if he goes to Dallas then it shows the allure of BK is nill to nothing. So you have to build through the draft.
That is a crap shoot. The last time we thought we would turn the corner Stern let Wall go to the Wizards. So we are talking another 4 years to get competitive. That is a lot for a fanbase to endure.
Canceling the Season would be Horrible for our NETS
I have read several posts that expound on the virtues of a lost season for the Nets. I think we are forgetting some key factors that a lost season would mean. First if the owners force a lost season then we can agree they are in this for blood. I think this will mean the following:
- Semi- Hard Cap with huge payouts for exceeding the cap.
- Franchise Tag
- Age Limit
Semi-Hard Cap
That would be great for Ratty but for our guy it doesn't help. We can now spend with the best of them without conscience. Now we would be forced to play ball closer to the vest. Yes we would still have more money than most but I think an open system such as we have now benefits our team.
Franchise Tag
This would go either two ways. First we can keep DWill. But that puts us out of any other star players coming to NJ including D Howard. I also believe this Franchise tag will come with a limited use. So I don't think you will have more than one every number of years. Brook would be a sitting duck with a smaller cap number. So we either over pay for him or let him go.
Age limit
This is my biggest fear of a lost season. I think the players union is smart. You protect people outside of the union last. This is a powerful bargaining chip. They can fight either point above. So the Stern and the owners get a 3 year rule instead of the one year rule. Take a look at the future Juniors on Draftexpress 2012 draft list. John Henson would be the first available.
I don't think this lost season will help us at all. We need momentum moving into a new arena. Uncertainty with a hurt fan base because of a lost season isn't how we want to take this league by storm. The first day of basketball would focus more on that instead of the Basketball Wonder of the World.
Who Else Bought a Twill Jersey
Ok so I bought a TWill jersey off of ebay. I thought it was a great investment for 40 bucks. He is a player on the rise. Yeah he is a aloof person but he would work his way through it this season with a good coach. I understood the choice of him over Lee and CDR because of his talent. He showed us his talent in the end of 2009 season. All aboard the TWill express and then crash I am stuck with this Jersey. I live out of town and now I will really get it about a team that is finding itself.
I write this because I think this is how Proky feels. I am sure King/Thorn feel the same way. They made a calculated investment on a player when they had opportunity after opportunity to trade him and now what.
Terrence get it together please. We are all invested in you.
Knicks Caught CHEATING!!!! Carmelo has to hate this.......
situation.
Knicks are the gift that keeps on giving
Isiah hired a scout back in 2007 before he left, Heard. Heard was in charge of East Coast scouting. He held improper and secret workouts for players for years. Wojo says this is probalby why the Knicks picked up the Chandler in the end of the 1st round. Remember he was projected to be a solid 2nd rounder. Chandler so happened to cancel any remaining workout with other teams after this secret and improper workout.
According to one of the Rush brothers the Knicks are the reason for him blowing out his knee in 2008. He said it happened in a gym in ATL. He says he was scared Kansas would lose their eligibility.
There is a lot of good stuff in here. I can't see how they get away with this. Remember what the NBA did to Minnesota when they did a back deal for Joe Smith. That took the franchise back for almost a decade. This is going to be very interesting.
Don't be Afraid of the Playoffs
I think we as Nets fans need to stop being afraid of making the playoffs. I am reading that we shouldn't make the playoffs because we need to get quality draft picks. But I disagree. What if we are the last teams out of the playoffs vs the last team in the playoffs? Will it make that big of a difference?
I dont think so. If we were the last team out of the playoffs we would have drafted Patrick Patterson. If we were the first team in the playoffs we would have drafted Larry Sanders. I think Sanders is a better player but that isn't the point. The point is the talent is the same between 12-16 or so. Xavier Henry, Ed Davis, and so on are not bringing you a championship.
But what will bring you a championship is confidence. It will be our first step. If we make the playoffs this year people wiill open their eyes. Wow look how good everyone is in that organization. The media will be all over the Nets. They took their team from last to the playoffs and they have the talent that will just get better.
If you are a free agent (Paul, Melo, etc.) you want to be sold on a team that has a coach that can add 20+ wins to column. You have an owner that wants to win and demands. You have a GM that can get you there. It really takes the stink off of a lot of bad things that has happened in the last two years. It also send us into the last year in Newark as a team that is ready to take it to the next level.
So yes the playoffs is a goal that we want. If we keep our draft picks and young nucleus the sky is the limit.

Thorn Never Executed the Blueprint
This has been bothering me all night. I can't' get it out of my head. I feel as if Thorn sabatoged or just didn't try to execute the blueprint. According to the notes the Nets leaked we knew Wade and Bosh would end up in Miami. So then why didn't we sign Lee or Boozer right after that meeting or conference call. If we wanted Lebron we needed a pf anyway. This is what the Knicks understood. This is why they signed Amere and this is why they are in the conversation. The closer Thursday comes the more leverage Lee and Boozer have. We need a stop gap for Favors. So now we have to pay Thomas more money than he is worth?
IF the plan is to make playoffs in two years and compete in three years then how will this happen now. I know he said if everything went right but did we give it our best effort?
What is the new blueprint? I think the Nets deserve at least this from Thorn. I think he needs to show face and explain his teams mistakes and how he plans on righting this wrong. He has interviewed a GM from the lowely hornets and he doesn't want in. According to many sources Thorn wants to leave this team in good standing. Does he think that he has done anything since it leaked he was leaving?
We need a GM and we need something to hang our hats on next year while maitaining our cap space advantage. A trade is needed for a player that will help this talented yet young cast of players. I think a trade for Ellis and pray you can talk Lee into staying home. Carmelo would be a huge get but I dont see them wanting any part of our assets.
Nets fans are the best fans because we have had nothing but heartache. We lost out on Shaq and others. We will rebound but it really stings when IT FEELS like our team hasn't tried in the last 2-4 years to win. Mistakes are understood with time but lack of effort is always remembered. Thorn wanted to be remembered for what he has done and I have always fought for him but this burns because IT SEEMS like a lack of effort because we know he has the savy. to do better.
Nets need Pritchard or Presti more than ever
They are both said to be great talent evaluators. We have struck out in free agency or this is the blueprint. But we need someone who will make these draft picks stick. We have the most number of draft picks in the next two years.
It will be hard for us to make the playoffs next year. So we can assume it will be a lottery or high non lottery pick. The Golden State pick will be important too. We may be able to trade these assets into another top three draft pick.
No matter what we do we will need a great talent evaluator to be Portland/OKC east. Let's see who Thorn hires.
Dirk and Lebron
I think that would be the best tandem. I think the Nets would have a big man that could shoot and a banger behind Dirk that could take all of the fouls. You could also move Dirk over to the 3 against bigger teams and bring in Favors. I am not sure he would be willing to leave Dallas because Cuban has been his guy but I am telling you this would be phenominal and I think it would bring a championship within 2 years.
Dirk and Lebron both need a skilled energetic big man. They would have two in the Nets. They would also have a coach who preaches defense. They would have an owner who is willing to throw away money to get rid of dead weight. Finally we have 3 picks next year and possibly 2 first rounders in two years.
I also think Avery could have a hand in talking to Dirk. He was his old coach and they seem to have a good relationship. Dirk has to want to win. If they both sign for 2.0 million less then this deal could be done.
What do you think?
We will soon see who has all the JUICE
I think the best thing all basketball fans have in common is the information we are receiving from these so-called experts. They always mention inside sources and unnamed sources but we are never sure if this information is correct. I am so sick of Broussard and him saying their is no chance of this person coming to the Nets.
I honestly don't think anyone on ESPN has multiple sources in the NBA. I think the local guys will know more than anything when it comes to these teams. I think they get close with players and front office personel because they can push the agenda of that person in return.
But we shall see. We shall see if Broussard will be correct if the Nets have no chance. Also will the big three free agents be stupid enough to try and play in Miami by themselves? Will the Knicks actually give JOE JOHNSON a maximum contract. Will he be the new Alan Houston? Will Lee be the only free agent the Nets get?
Will these guys be the Nostradamus of sports or Miss Cleo? I think the latter is obvious.
Check out Broussard last two tweets
Then later that night

This all proves that he is just throwing things at the wall and they all are just stringing us alone. I think the best way to get good info is Nets Daily way. Take a look at all of the information and make an educated guess because that is all they are doing.
Looks like we have our New Coach
I think Avery is an excellent choice for coach. He is a proven coach who will force Devin either to play defense or go to another team. He is still current and I am sure has a staff that is ready to go.
Also he is a defensive coach. I am a firm believer that defense wins championships. His offense would be the question for me. I hope they bring is some young mind to help with that but I like this move a lot.
Thoughts?
The Harris Debate
I love the passion on this board for the Nets but it is getting out of control.
Devin Harris is a former all-star. You don't trade him unless you are getting quality back. He will be our future point guard unless he brings in a player that can help us immediately. He has all of the tools but a consistent jumpshot. Remember he was an all-star when he had VC next to him. He will be fine.
I can't name 10 point guards I would rather have than him. He does cause a problem for Brook in the middle at this time but with a good coach that will teach him how to use the sagging defense to his advantage he can make teams pay. I wont go into how but Rondo is an excellent example of what he can do offensively. DH is by far a better shooter. Magic Johnson couldn't shoot (i dont think he is on his level). He went a season without making a three pointer but he was able to make teams pay and I think Harris will do the same under a good coach. Shoot Avery Johnson can teach him what it is like.
Lebron is leaving Cleveland (if true)!!!
This guy is suppose to be pretty reputable.
This explains too much but this can't be true......can it. This explains A LOT. Remember in Game 5 they put in boobie gibson instead of West. He looked so out of it.
If true then there is no way he is coming back to Cleveland. I wouldn't be able to look at my teammates again in the same way. I still think he will choose Chicago then us but it does open the door.
I feel sorry for these guys with parents like this but hopefully it isn't true because this is crazy.
