Jake Layman
Lots of speculation that Layman was close to a lock after saying he likes Maryland, but seems like a lot has changed. He has blown up and now that bigger programs are coming after him he has no favorites. Here is the link for proof:

Recruiting News [ed's note: not really recruiting news]
Any news on any prospects? It seems most people on this site were already talking about Shaq committing, classic mixup. How about anything from Moto? Latest news, visiting NC State this weekend. Isn't this the same NC State that people constantly make fun of because of there coach, who just happens to be on espn.com college bball front page? Seems like he is doing a good job at recruiting considering five schools in the ACC already have commits for 2012, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke, North Carolina State, and Virginia (wonder who there commit is)? Sure I am sarcastic and pessimistic, but why do people literally talk about our starting line up in 2013 and include Shaq, Moto, and other recruits who haven't even committed, let alone still visiting other schools. People need to seriously stop doing this stuff it's pathetic. So you will say, "but we are being optimistic, we are true fans." Being blinded and naive doesn't make you more of a fan of me. It's honestly pathetic. We have done nothing in terms of recruiting yet. Our team will win at most 6 ACC games and that is being very generous next season. Our line up is laughable. GO TERPS!

UNC bball
I hate UNC very much, but I find myself just marveling in what is going on down there. 3 lottery picks, Henson, Zeller (could be argued), and now Barnes are all coming back to win a natty. Henson and Barnes without a doubt would have been in the top 10 picks and arguably Zeller also. There recruiting as always, is top 10, plus Drew and Marshall, this team is destined for a natty. Honestly, there is a small part of me that wants them to win. They had 3 players all come back because they want to win. In a materialistic society, flooded with dirty recruiting and young kids who only care about money, it is refreshing to see these players want to win. Maryland has a player as you all know named Jordan Williams who should take a page from his ACC rival. Yes, his draft stock will go up, but only because of default. If Jordan goes pro, I promise he will be watching NBA games just like I do, which is on the television screen. The reason why I posted this, is because I am sick of people bashing UNC and other schools that "only have one and dones." You guys need to take a long look in the mirror. Everyone says "recruiting is turning around," "Gary is back without Yow holding him back." I think all of those comments are pre mature. If Jordan does not stay, next season will be over before it even starts. Bring on the scrutiny for this comment. Bring on the "is this firegary?"
NBA Draft: Jordan Williams
I know this stuff is redundant and annoying, but with the news of Harrison Barnes staying along with Perry Jones, both of which were automatic top 10 picks, confuses me to say the least. I know Kemba declared today, but is this better or worse for Jordan coming back to Maryland? I am hearing that kids are afraid of the lockout affecting them, but would less kids entering make Jordan more likely to picked in the 1st round (the answer is Yes, but would it influence his decision that much more?). I feel that it could go both ways. Less studs like Jones and Barnes means J Will gets picked higher, but there reasons for being afraid should influence J Will to come back one more year. Gonna be very interesting to see what happens.
ACC Football Schedule of all Teams
Miami at Maryland September 5th. Randy Shannon better be there on our sideline as the Defensive Co. This just has to happen. Also, the Notre Dame game is going to be pretty cool. Why do we finish with 3 straight road games? Not sure on my thoughts on that.

Maryland Basketball (Please Read)
Ok this has to be said. A lot of people on this forum are die hard Maryland fans, alums, and current students (like myself). We love Maryland. There is something we need to accept though and that is that the Terps are not even close to a top tier basketball program. I think Gary Williams gets way too much credit. He is a great coach who has won one Natty and one ACC tournament in his 20 some years at Maryland. That is not elite. Ok now lets look at exposure. People get excited here when our games are televised on ESPN3.com....that is pathetic. I don't care if teams like Kentucky don't win national championships, either do we. You know what they do? They get exposure, they are always on TV, they get big time recruits, which means buzz, which eventually turns into more people at the stadium and more money for the school....but wait Gary is an X's and O's guy. Well that might have worked 10 years ago, but in this day in college basketball you have to pull talent. The amount of talent at there is increasing rapidly and so is the amount of up and coming programs that are pulling in big name recruits. A lot of people need a reality check and need to see us for what we are. A school that has had inconsistent success in the past years, but is afraid to make that jump to a consistent program that pull is talent (locally) and elsewhere. Jordan Williams is literally our only good player. Mosley is literally terrible, like he is horrible. Awesome he can play defense! He can also turn the ball over 5 times a game and go 20% from the field every night. We are young, yes I know, but if those young guys were Tristen Thompson or Terrence Jones we would not be complaining right now. Instead they are Hawk and Stoglin. Reality check everyone.
Torrey Smith + Kenny Tate
Torrey just posted on his twitter account "Decisions Decisions Decisions." Are we all assuming he is headed for the NFL draft? What about Kenny Tate. I think the longer this coaching situation plays out the better chance they both leave. Too much uncertainty for them I think. Does anyone know anything else? If we can get both of these guys to stay we can have a great core next year to make a run with whoever is coaching us (has to be Leach or Wilingham at this point).
Josh Selby is amazing.
Adjehi Baru
How has no one mentioned the fact that Cody Zeller going to IU was huge for trying to bring Baru to UMD. Now that UNC lost out on Zeller, they are going to be going full throttle for Baru. There is no reason for me to believe that we can even come close to compete with UNC's recruiting process, which probably involves money, cars, and women. Unless we can steal a page from Coach Calipari's recruiting manual, I do not see how we can land Baru. I know Baru has been rumored to be extremely interested in Maryland, which I am sure he is, but as a realist, I can not see him coming here. Looks like our hopes of getting a talented big man will hinge on Desmond Hubert's decision.
NEW AD
Maryland hires new AD, Kevin Anderson from Army. This makes no sense because Maryland should have tried to hire a bigger profiled person to fit our athletic personal. Here is the link....
I do not understand why we didn't push for Connecticut's AD or someone else who has more experience and recognizable name. In order to make the jump to an elite sports school we need a elite AD, and only time will tell with Anderson, but as of now it is looking bleak.

ADJEHI BARU
After doing some research on the prospects in the 2011 class, I feel like Maryland has a good chance at getting some studs. Adjehi Baru is 6'9" 225lbs according to espn.com. His athletic ability is stout. He is the prototypical athletic 4 that would complement big Jwilliams down low. He can also play the center position, but needs to work on his fundamentals and offense when his back is to the basket. I read that Gary Williams went and visited him last weekend at his home in Virginia, he spoke with the family and the whole nine yards. According to Yahoo's rival, Baru has a large list of schools, but Maryland is the only one that he has "high" interest in. I am attaching the link so we can all stare at it. Hopefully the staring pays off and he will make an early commit this summer.

Basketball Signees?
This may seem like an easy question, but when will players like CJ Leslie and Brandon Knight make their official commitment to their respective schools? Is there a deadline for the 2010 recruits? I think that Maryland can make a strong push for CJ especially because Kentucky is loading up for Knight. CJ could come into Maryland and be the man right away and that is what he wants because he is probably going to be a "one and done" player. At Kentucky he might have to be there for more than one year.
