The Team Formerly Known as the Nats
So, it appears that the Nats name may not belong to them.
This is just another example of Bud and Co treating the Nats like a stepchild and just a shoddy marketing job. MLB just does not have the savvy displayed by the NFL and the NBA. They need to sell the Nats as soon as possible so that the group with most at stake in the Nats future (the owners) can directly negotiate with DC and work out a stadium deal, instead of 29 other groups holding their competitor's fate in their hands.
It's no surprize that MLB is losing out in popularity and is not as succesful as it used to and should be. Baseball is a great game and one of the few (maybe only) popular sports without a time limit. The dynamic between individual achievement and team success reflects the dynamic in families and in society quite successfully.
I love the beauty of the game but the scientific aspect of attempting to quantify various aspects of the game appeals to my curious side.
Coming back from my segway, Bud Selig needs to step up and pay this company off. I like the way "Nats" sounds. It rolls of your tongue so well.
Maybe they can follow in Prince's footsteps eh? ;)

Florida's Fire Sale
As people have been noticing, Loria (former owner of our Nats in their previous incarnation) was having a fire sale, piling up solid prospects which means they will be not so good for a year or two and then emerge as a quality team for cheap. In all of this, Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis were considered untouchable.
Now comes news that this fire sale could become a total gutting - for the right price, both would be available.
Now, admittedly, we won't have or wouldn't want to give up what they want for D-Train (wouldn't he look great in a Nats uniform), but considering his dominant pitching against us:
8-3, 46/19 K/BB, 3.02ERA (admittedly a small sample size of 11 games obtained from the Day By Day database)
I for one would be glad if he is no longer in our division or hopefully league (except Angelos' team)
Showing 1 - 3 of 3
