DCPS Beautification Day with Mike Green

11

Join Capitals defenseman Mike Green, team mascot Slapshot and other Caps fans from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the annual D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) Beautification Day. The Capitals will be hosting a project at Powell Elementary School in Northwest Washington. We need volunteers to join Mike and Slapshot in sprucing up Powell to get it ready for the start of the school year. Every volunteer will receive a free Caps T-shirt and be provided with lunch at the conclusion of the project. Tasks that volunteers will be performing include painting, gardening, organizing classrooms, assembling goody bags for students and cleaning.

Metro delays this weekend could impact game travel. Riders planning to take the Red, Blue, Orange or Green lines to area sports events this weekend should add up to 40 minutes to their travel times. The Washington Nationals play at Nationals Park on April 16, 17, and 18, the Washington Capitals play at the Verizon Center on April 17, and the DC United play at RFK Stadium on April 17. Ugh, Metro delays.
