Part of a Russian documentary on their Olympians. It's entirely in Russian, but worth watching, if only for Ovie and Semin hanging out in Arlington in the brown flip flops. And Feds parking his Corvette halfway on a sidewalk. Mama Semin makes and appearance as well. Thanks to Dmitry for twittering this!

Remember in street hockey how annoying it was to call timeout, grab the net, wait on the curb until a car passed by and then yell "game on"? Yeah, it doesn't seem all that agitating in comparison to games being delayed by Taliban rocket attacks, as players press themselves against wooden boards while sirens blare.

The Florida Panthers announced today that they will collect donations for victims of Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti during the club’s next two home games against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the BankAtlantic Center. "This was a tragic and devastating event for the citizens of Haiti, as well as the numerous South Florida residents that have family members residing in the area," said Florida Panthers President & COO Michael Yormark. "We encourage our fans to help support this worthy cause and help the victims who are suffering from this unfortunate tragedy." Fans are encouraged to bring monetary donations (check or cash), new or used clothing or non-perishable food items and drop them at the donation tables located inside the BankAtlantic Center, just outside Pantherland on the main plaza level. A Panthers team representative will be on hand to collect donations during both home games. Fans not attending either game may drop their donation at the Panthers Executive Offices located on the suite level of the BankAtlantic Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m on weekdays. For more information please call Darren Perry at (954) 835-7715.

2. Washington Capitals The somewhat under-the-radar and late signing of Brendan Morrison adds a steady and calming veteran voice up front, not to mention a reliable two-way center. The league would greatly benefit if it gets another Alex Ovechkin versus Malkin/Crosby matchup in the conference finals, and if this rivalry stays heated in the regular season. And, oh, yes, it wouldn't be an insult to the game's traditions and cultures to play up the young stars, and the fact that they're not going to be meeting for sandwiches and beers at Primanti Brothers the night before the games in Pittsburgh. Regardless, though, we know that Ovechkin, going for the Hart Trophy hat trick, will do his part, and that the signing of Mike Knuble to play right wing on his line could make him even more dangerous. The Caps' unsettled goaltending situation -- if they could only hypnotize Jose Theodore into thinking he's in a contract year -- is the major question mark.

ESPN's Terry Frei's East projections. What a surprise, ESPN gets basic facts wrong yet again-because last time I checked, Theo is in, are you ready for this, a contract year! But, hey, don't let little things like facts stand in your way!

Boudreau and Fedorov were pretty tight, and they often would be seen skating slowly alongside one another before practice talking hockey. Boudreau, as you know, talks a lot. But when he talked to Fedorov, he did a lot of listening, too.
