The NY Daily News has a blog post comparing Mr. Redlegs to Bobby Valentine and implying that the Reds stole the mascot from the Mets (who have not existed as long as Mr. Red)

As a Northeast Reds fan, I live among many Mets fans. Every spring, my work iChat avatar is a picture of my Mr. Red bobblehead doll (which sits upon my desk). It often invokes wise-ass IMs from Mets fans telling me that the Reds have ripped off their mascot. It is always fun to pointout that Frank Robinson wore a Reds jersey that featured Mr. Red.
