Stanford-Colorado Football Gametime Set

+

In an attempt to appease East Coast Cardinal fans, in addition to finally getting a national prime time game televised, Stanford will take on Colorado at 4:30PT, October 8th, at Stanford Stadium. The game will be broadcast on Versus. (Or is it NBC Sports now? I can't remember if they changed their name yet.)

Night Game! Stanford-UCLA Game Time Set

2

In a surprise move by the Pac-12 compared to the past, we now know the time of our next football game almost two weeks in advance. Stanford will take on the UCLA Bruins at 7:30PM local time at Stanford Stadium on October 1. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Net, meaning it'll probably be Comcast Sports Net in the Bay Area. Many apologies to our East Coast brethren, suffering through their second late-night football game in a row.

Skov out for the remainder of the season

1

We knew it was possible, and now it's confirmed: Shayne Skov will miss the remainder of the season. While the details of his injury have not been disclosed, we can only assume it's serious. We wish Shayne a full and speedy recovery and that he continues to be a vocal leader for his teammates.

Remember, kids: Just Say "No!"

Bumping this because of recent stories in both the NYT and Austin American-Statesman No. No no no no no. Do not take OU and OSU. At least Chip Brown (he of last summer's infamous Orangeblood.com stories about Pac-12 expansion) wrote it, and he's pretty much been established as a "reporter" of ill credibility of late.

Stanford Not Good At Being On the Receiving End of Trickery; Duke Kicker is REALLY Bad; Pac-12 Does Better

I’ll answer what I can about this, because I know there is a lot of interest. But I don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. Our preference is status quo, all conferences staying at 12. But…if we expanded further, we’d carefully look at equal access to all territories.

"Legislators and statewide office holders have swung into high-pressure mode to get Texas president Bill Powers and athletic director DeLoss Dodds to slow down any decision that might involve the Longhorns joining the Pac-12, multiple sources said Sunday... A source in the Big 12 says there is also an increasing likelihood of litigation against the Southeastern Conference as well as the Pac-12 if the Big 12 comes apart." Stanford Ranked Seventh in First AP Football Poll

+

It's Stanford Football's highest AP preseason ranking since 1950. As in previous years, there are substantial differences between the first AP and the Coaches' Polls. What's important, at least for postseason berths, is that the Coaches' Poll help determine BCS bowls, while the AP operates separately from the BCS and awards a separate national championship. Stanford is currently ranked sixth in the USA Today/Coaches' Poll.
