MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference

about 2 years ago Tiny RedRowdy420 0 comments 2 recs

In case you guys didn't already know, every year, yours truly GM Daryl Morey holds a conference where all the best sports analysts come together to talk about who knows what and party. I say good, Dork Elvis needed a break after pulling the trigger on the KMart deal.

Nice breakdown of T-Mac's career. I'm still pissed about the trade deadline last year.

(And by the way, nobody loves basketball more than me. I mean, NOBODY. But when an NBA player with two years remaining on his contract for a total of $44 million shows up for the season out of shape, complains most of the year, lets down his teammates and fans again and again, lands in some trade rumors and decides, "Instead of getting traded to a team I don't like, I'm going to announce that I'm getting microfracture surgery four days before the trade deadline and kill any potential trade, and even better, I'll be healed by next spring, just in time to showcase myself for another contract," and successfully pulls this off -- with no repercussions from anybody -- then yes, the system is broken and needs to be fixed. Because that was disgusting. Tracy McGrady, you are officially indefensible for the rest of eternity. Even your cousin Vince wouldn't have done that. And that's saying something.)

The Rockets defeated the Warriors by 22 points on Tuesday night, ending Houston's streak of 16 consecutive games played that were decided by fewer than 10 points. That was the longest single-season streak of its kind in 27 years. Prior to Houston, the last team to play at least 16 straight games that were decided by fewer than 10 points in a single season was the Indiana Pacers during the 1982-83 campaign (20-straight games).

You don't have perspective at this point. When you go through a tough stretch of basketball, you don't have the opportunity to have perspective of the entire year because you're in the middle of it. If you're a Martian and you're visiting Earth for the first time, and you look at the Western Conference standings and saw where we were and looked at our schedule and the our circumstances, in a Martian voice you might say, 'not bad.' But as humans, we're in the middle of it, so our perspective is a little different.

HoopData did an article on the 5 most missed lay up performances this season. To no surprise, we're talked about frequently.

The Dream Shake Still bored at work... HOW TO TRADE FOR WADE AND PAUL

New Orleans Hornets send Chris Paul to Houston Rockets for Tracy McGrady. Houston Rockets send Trevor Ariza to the Miami Heat for Dwayne Wade. New Orleans Hornets send Peja Stojakovic to the Miami Heat.

ESPN Trade Machine is my friend on slow days... Morey make it happen!

He may be ready to play in the NBA, but that doesn't mean he's learned how to quit crying

The Dream Shake I've never posted a trade on here before but...

I'm bored at work so fuck it. How you like this one bitches?

Houston sends T-Mac to Minnesota for Al Jefferson

Minnesota sends Mark Blount (he's getting paid $7.9m this year, wtf?!) to Washington

Washington sends Caron Butler to Houston

Why the Rockets should do it:

Caron Butler and Al Jefferson, not much D but a lot of O. But hey, they can learn while they're here.

Why Timberwolves and Wizards should do it:

They both suck, fuck 'em. Plus McGrady and Blount come off the books this year. I don't know both of their teams specifics, but whatever, the trade machine says it worked so whatever! Plus they're not releasing their players to Eastern Conference teams. That's why I've held my tongue when it comes to CP3, that's just not gonna happen, ever.

Plus I think we'll still have a little money left to resign Lowry, Scola might have to walk though, but with AJ and Carl, I think we're good to go. Scola, as amazing as he's been playing this year, is getting a little older. AJ's only 25, got hurt last year yes, but if he's ready then awesome. Same situation if we picked up Chris Bosh, we'd have to let Scola go.

Ok those are my thoughts, now let's hear yours ladies and gentlemen!

I'm gonna add a poll cause I've never made my own before:

The Dream Shake Mutombo joins NBA as ambassador

Hey everybody, ShehzadG420 here! I had to create a new username cause I tried to make a FanPost and I guess I hit post too many times and I got banned from The Dream Shake. If the mods checked their e-mails more frequently (cough), I wouldn't have had to create a new name but alls well that ends well. Onto my post:

The league announced Mutombo's hiring to the newly created position Tuesday, with commissioner David Stern calling the eight-time All-Star "one of sports' outstanding humanitarians."

As we all already know how badass Mutombo is, this should come as no surprise. But hooray for Mutombo anyway, all the great things he does for people all around the world should be celebrated and this new positition he's taken with the NBA suits him well.
