Leigh Bodden to the Pats

Leigh Bodden will be released today by the Lions and he had some success under Romeo Crennel in Cleveland, 6 INT and 75 tackles in his last season with the Browns. He's only 28 years old and I would think at the right dollars he knows the system and could be very effective with the Pats. He's a veteran guy who never was really given the shot with the Lions he should have been. What do you think?

Varitek may turn down deal

Mike Holley on WEEI is reporting from his sources that if the deadline was today that Tek would turn down the deal and either "sit out" as Holley is putting it or try and find another deal from another team which as of now in not there. Tek appears to be insulted by the offer. Personally it was his ultimate decision to turn down arbitration no matter if Boras miss read the market or not. Tek is what he is now and can't expect to be paid for past performances what the Sox do from here I don't know I really like Teagarden but he will cost a boat load.

J.J. Hardy

I have a question for Brewers Fans. I'm a Red Sox fan who is interested in knowing what the general consensus about J.J. Hardy is. Is he someone that would or could be considered for a trade this offseason? Is he worth trading for if you were a team in need of a shortstop? I know the Brewers have Alcides Escobar coming up through the system and I have heard Hardy could be then moved to third. I know with the Brewers being a small market team that cost effectivness is a priority and Prince Fielder signing and young pitching I would guess be more of a need long term than Hardy. Would you as a fan base think the Brewers would be willing to move Hardy for a young pitcher say a Justin Masterson and 2b/3b Jed Lowrie? With Sheets and Sabathia most likely moving on a good young pitcher in Masterson and good young 2b/3b in Lowrie, who would be under the teams control for 5+ years, would seem logical for Hardy who only has 3 more years of arbitration left. Does this type of trade make sense for the Brewers in your opinion? Do you think Hardy is even worth it? Please comment and let me know.

This almost guarantees Garnett will not win the M.V.P. which is awful. This years M.V.P. should also be called the Kobe Bryant lifetime achievement award, as he will win the award and voters can point to the defensive player of the year award and say see Garnett was recognized. Thats a joke, a record turn around in wins and attitude and complete domination of the NBA almost completly because of 1 man Kevin Garnett.

Coco needs to go/Catching needs

I dont want to keep seeing Coco playing the platoon with Ellsbury as we have seen in Japan/Oakland. I know Ellsbury is young but look at Ryan Zimmerman, Ryan Braun, Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Upton. All drafted with Ellsbury and all playing regularly why can't he? I think the Sox consistently coddle their young players to a fault. Ellsburys defense is not that far off of Coco and he will give you at least the production you got from Coco at the plate. Ellsbury did it on the biggest stage so you know there is no threat in exposing him to early to the pressures of Boston. That leads me into my next point I heard today that Buster Olney is reporting that the Sox have contacted a few teams about acquiring a catcher. Maybe trade Coco and a pitching prospect for a potential young star. I know good catching prospects are hard to come by so this maybe the opportunity for the Sox to strike.

Alex Rios Extension

I just heard JP Riccardi on WEEI radio in Boston say that the Blue Jays have a press conference scheduled for 3 today to announce the extension of Alex Rios, plus he added there is something else to announce but will wait until today at 3. I think this is a great signing for the Jays and its too bad he wont be hitting the free agent pool anytime soon, I would love to see him playing for my Red Sox because JD Drew is terrible.

Brewers Centerfield

I'm a Red Sox fan but I enjoy watching the Brewers young talented team and will try and watch them as much as I can this season. Theres one thing that I noticed that would have helped both the Sox and the Brewers. I don't understand why The Brewers wouldn't be all over a guy like Coco Crisp. He has a very friendly contract, 3 years/$15.5M (2007-09), plus $8M 2010 club option, much better than MIke Camerons 1 year/$7M (2008), plus $10M 2009 club option. The Brewers don't seem too need more power with Fielder, Braun, and Hart. Coco brings outstanding defense and a number 1 or 2 switch hitter with great speed. I think once hes gone from Boston his numbers should get better offensively. I know Tony Gwynn Jr. is there but if hes platooning with Kapler then he may or may not be the answer. The Red Sox need pitching with Schilling gone and are looking to trade Crisp to get Ellsbury in there. Claudio Vargas was out right released and has been a very good player for the Brewers. You would have thought the moment that Schilling went down, the Brewers must have known by then they wanted to go with the youth movement with their starters, they would have inquired about Crisp. Also Mike Cameron brings some baggage with the suspension for steroids so who knows how good he will be when he returns. A team like the Mets would kill for a Mike Cameron right now with all their outfield injuries and the Brewers could get some middle relief help to bolster that staff. It seems like a win win for both sides I don't get it.
