Joey Votto Interview at Toronto autograph session

I stumbled across this clip (I'm sorry if it has already been posted somewhere here) of Votto chatting with some Toronto something or other.  He talks about Rolen being a positive influence, but my favorite part was when he said that he is "perfectly happy wearing Red right now".  I wonder if Votto will ever end up in Toronto.  If he does, I just hope it's way down the road.  I believe Bubba has already decided Joey is going to spend his twilight MLB years as a DH in New York, though, so sorry Canada!

Again, nothing significant, but nice to hear from JV:

Reds 2009 Rookie Hazing

Thanks to the Redszone message borad, I was ble to find this clip from the FSN broadcast:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS9hy_yYVJg

It's not of the best quality, but you get an idea of what some of the players had to wear.  Homer's outfit is pretty well chosen I think lol.

Side note, when I was searching for this, I came across a few different smutty sites.  I can't believe the number of people that just go online posting smut about MLB players.  (A particularly bad one was named something like talk-sports.net) The comments are kind of like a really bad day at Fay's blog.  There are probably already 20 rumors about Rosales's illegitimate kids, drugs and or girlfriends since the last time I was at the site.

The emptier half of the Doubleheader

These are just a few shots of how empty the ballpark was on Monday afternoon.  It was a beautiful, almost perfect day.  The past couple games have had poor attendance, but I think this tops them all.  It's a shame, because the Reds are playing some better.  In any case, on a beautiful afternoon, it's pretty nice to sit outside and enjoy a nice view of the river.

How Will Rolen Fit In?

I just read Mark Sheldon's article about Rolen's arrival. Here is the link:

Votto Getting Tossed

I should let this go (as Votto apparently should have) but I wnated to preserve this little video for a bit of time.  The pitch was so obviously a ball.  Bubba, MLB.tv has courteously provided a clip, so you do not have to keep that travesty in your DVR anymore (unless you want to of course).  Thanks alot for offering.  Here is their clip:

http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5557407&c_id=cin

It looks like Votto is saying something about "you've been calling that one all game" or something like that.  I can't make it out other than the few curse words.  I just wonder what Wellke said to draw Votto back.

Votto made some comments about it after the game which were perfectly polite (I would have drug the ump's name through the mud, but I guess I'm just more Pinella lol):

That does answer the question, though, about the number of ejections he's been issued.  Votto says he would be ejected once a year while in the Minors.  I guess this is par for the course then.

In any case, I hope he doesn't do it again and I hope Dusty actually gets out there in a reaosnable amount of time if something like it does happen again.  I'd loe to see Rosales get all fired up though.

Once again, though, when I hear those Mets fans booing him, it just...I need to get tossed I think lol.

The Gehrig Bat non-posure

I was reading Hal McCoy's blog:

http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/cincinnatireds/entries/2009/07/04/to_pitch_or_not_to_pitch_to_pu.html#comments

He describes how this dude Braude brought an actual Lou Gehrig bat to the clubhouse prior to today's game for the Reds' players to hold and pose with.  He then adds that one player didn't pose and replied "Why, it's just a bat?".  McCoy refuses to name the player, but he clearly wanted to stir the pot, why else include it?

I get annoyed by shots like that because, well, they start to nag at me, despite my better inclinations to ignore them.  Now it's got me wondering who said it (probably because I'm way too tired to be thinking at all).

It's not a huge issue (it's not as though the un-named player failed to save a drowning baby or something), but I think McCoy should say who if it was important enough to bring it up at all.  Now, (until I get some sleep lol) I;ll be thinking one of those guys out on teh field dissed Gehrig! I'm going to have to assume that it was Bronson.  He would be very afraid of any piece of lumber that hit a homerun right now lol.  Or Pujols.  He is my new Goldstein.

Reds' coiffure code

After looking at the homepage Harang pic again, and his vaguely Amish facial hair, I started to wonder about a few things.  Do the Reds' have some kind of dress code or "hair code"?  Someone told me a while back that Marge Schott would not allow teh players to have any facial hair.  I believed it, but I suppose it could have been made up lol.

This is superficial and pointless, but tomorrow is an off day (sorry if this was double posted I had issues with my browser)
