The baseball season is finally over so I thought I'd take some time and go back and tally the results for Rev's 2nd Half Over/Under Guessing game. Baseball-Reference.com was used for finding the results.

It's taken me a while to even be able to think about Angels Baseball. Lots of emotions surfaced while watching Ryan Howard bulldoze Lidge at the end of the game last night and I think maybe I've finally come to terms with the way the Angels season ended. Of course, remembering back to one fine weekend in June when the Angels swept those Broad St. Bastards hurt, but I digress....

I've listed the answers to the questions in BOLD to the right of the question. Please tally your own scores and put them in the comments section. Be honest, HHers. This is for bragging rights only.

It was a fun season. See you all again in the Spring.

If player is traded, stats compiled on other team DO count.

He broke his pinky during the first play in OT Sunday. He could miss up to 4 weeks, which means he could miss the game at FedEx 11/16. I have a feeling he won't let that happen...

Cerrato: There will be a new punter

Looks like the FO has had enough of the youngster's 32.1 Avg. Net Yds per punt. He hasn't been cut yet, but according to RI, Vinny used his radio show this morning to announce to the world that "Somebody else will be punting Sunday".

Think Brooks was listening? That would suck...

So after 6 weeks, our 6th round pick (168th overall) appears to be a bust. Is Durant Brooks the devil?

Looking over this list of free agent punters, there's only one name that stands out to me.

Ryan Plackemeier (2006 7th Round Pick, 239th overall) and his career 42.3 y/p was cut by Seattle on September 9th. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle while lifting weights over the summer (punters lift weights?) and had surgery back in June. He reportedly showed up to Seahawks camp "rusty" in August, punted in their first regular season game, and was then cut and replaced by Jon Ryan (who was cut and replaced in Green Bay by Derrick Frost. Weird huh?).

He most recently worked out for Minnesota on Thursday, but that was probably a move by Childress to light a fire under his 6yr/$8 million punter's ass.

So does Vinny complete the Frost/Ryan/Plackemeier triangle and reunite Zorny with his former punter? Is Durant Brooks really the devil? Discuss.

Wishful thinking eh? Assuming the Halos get out of the first round this year, did you get tickets through the Insider presale this morning? Which game, how many and where?

I played by the rules this time around and snagged a pair for Game 3 in 239. $116 total after bending over and taking it from TicketBastard. Face was $48 each or $96 for a pair (that's over a 400% increase from regular season. There's only one October!).

There's still no free Will Call delivery option.

The 2009 Schedule

Oh my my. The schedule Gods are sick of the Angels success.

The season opens harmless enough on April 6th, at home, with a 4 game series with perennial powerhouse (chuckle) Oakland Athletics. And then, Boston. So early in the season will be a fun test.

The schedule meanders through the remaining days of April in Seattle and Minnesota, then home to face Detroit and Seattle then back on the road to begin a stretch of 32 games with two days off throughout the month of May. Ye gads. That stretch will see the Halo red flood the New Yankee stadium for the first time, take on an 11 game road trip through Arlington, Seattle and Chavez, and conclude with a 6 game homestand with CWS and Seattle.

That's a tough stretch by any definition. Not so much the competition, but because our boys will receive so few days off. By comparison, the team had 3 off days in May of '08. Thankfully they're both home days off this year and I guess, technically, they'll be sleeping in their own beds before and after the matchups with the bane of our fandom up the freeway.

A highlight in June is returning to SF for inter-league play. The 2009 regular season will not conclude until October 4th, on the road in Oakland.
