I didn't see this earlier but #9 on this list isn't that good. From Yahoo -

Is doing a bit of flight tracking (I wonder who gave these clowns the source to track flights--geez), talking with realtors who know PM's wife, and a waiter who overheard a meeting with Fox and Denver's "cap specialist" last night say that PM's signing with Denver as early as today. I don't know who else in the world would believe what ANY of those sources say---would you?

So Denver has apparently rennamed their sports radio station because they are apparently so pompous that PM is a sure thing.

This shows the draft position of every QB since 1980. You can go further back, but I think that is futile. Some recent years were complete busts where there are no QBs in the league anymore (ala Mr. Sizzurp himself). Slice and dice this any way you please. Kyle Orton is one of 2 QB's in the history of the NFL to accomplish this

And that is throw for 300 yds in a game for 2 different teams in a single season. I was listening to NFL Live on ESPN and they mentioned it. Now I do not know who the other QB is. If anyone knows it, I'd be interested in hearing who it is.

Yeah it's early - this season is not over yet!

However, I was bored and was surfing and came across this schedule. I do not know how accurate it is, but I'm not liking CAR and NO on the schedule next year if in fact it is right.

Also, depending on placement, the AFC So and East could have some competition. Overall, it looks easier than we had this year.

Here's the list that was published by Forbes in Jan 2011 (for those of you too lazy to click through the pics):

1. Belichek (no surprise) - $7.5 mil
2. Shanahan (again, no surprise since Snyder likes to throw money everywhere - I wish he'd throw some my way) - $7 mil
3. Carroll - $6.7 mil (master of good timing himself)
4. Fisher - $5.75 mil (we need to be at least in the ball park if we want him)
5. Tomlin - $5.75 mil (he did start at $2.5/yr)
6. Whisenhunt - $5.75 mil
7. Reid - $ 5.5 mil
8. Coughlin - $5.25 mil
9. Del Rio - $5 mil (surprisingly high IMO - maybe why he was fired?)
10. L. Smith - $4.8 mil

now that leaves 22 other teams with $ less than $4.8 mil. However, one floated name is on the top 10 from 1 year ago - whatever that should mean.

Tony Dungy anyone?

We pull Dungy out of retirement and then go after Peyton for the last 3-4 years of his career. Possible?

I love a win like anyone else - but with no QB, lest's discuss if its worth it? No QBs will be on the board at 14, unless we sell the farm and trade up - which Pioli will never do.

2001 season for the Pats:

The Patriots opened the season with a 23-17 loss at Cincinnati, with Bledsoe as the starting quarterback. Their second game, and home opener, on September 23, was against their AFC East rival, the New York Jets. Bledsoe was again the starter, when in the fourth quarter he suffered internal bleeding after a hit from Jets linebacker Mo Lewis. Bledsoe returned for the next series, but was replaced with Brady for that Pats' final series of the game. New York would hold on to win, 10-3, and the Patriots fell to 0-2 on the season.[14]

- Eerily similar
- Cassel vs. Bledsoe
- Same coordinators
--let's hope for the same outcome that year huh? SB Champs and the backup QB named MVP! ok that's a bit much but I'll settle for SB Champs!

Vincent Jackson - Looks like he may be out, but plans to test his injury later

Darren Sproles - Trying to practice later this week, he's progressing along

Antonio Gates - Game time decision

Ryan Mathews - Healthy but didn't play last week. Expect him Sunday.

Legedu Naanee - Likely out with a hamstring injury.

Patrick Crayton - Still out with a wrist injury.

Week 1 (27) The Chiefs were picked by ESPN The Magazine as division winners. (Kuharsky)

Nice to see that there were some smart guys at ESPN at the beginning of the year. Hopefully we can keep it up!

Everyone says that the Chiefs have a candy-cane schedule. Yep, it's easy, but not the easiest in the league. The Chiefs are tied for 22nd with the Packers. I think it shows what a turnaround this team has exhibited in less than 1 year.

Arrowhead Pride Where does the Chief's passing O rank at the end of Week 5?

With all of the hub-ub re: the play of our passing O (or lack thereof), let's see where they rank.  Now, this may change a bit after the Mon Nt game, but for now (via NFL.com):

Total Offense:  19.2 pts/gm -- Rank: 27

Passing completion %: 54.2 -- Rank: 30

Passing attempts/game: 26.5 -- Rank: 29

Passing yards/game: 158 -- Rank: 27

Passing yards/completion: 6.1 -- Rank: 28

Passing TDs: 4 -- Rank: T26 (3 vs. SF)  Btw, #32 has 2 TDs (MIN)

Int's: 3 -- Rank: T5

Passer rating: 74 -- Rank: T23

Sacks: 3 -- Rank #1  --Ok, that's damn good! Considering last year.

Plays > 40yds: 1 -- Rank: T23 (I found this surprising)

Plays > 20yds: 8 -- Rank: T30 (#32 had 7).  #1 (SD) had 32 for comparison.

Longest Play: 45T -- Rank: T26

Running stats to come.

For futility over a 30-game stretch. I hope we reached rock bottom. We are 2-28 over the last 30 games, only matched by the 76-78 Bucs. Please give us a trade or give us some playmakers.

Arrowhead Pride Chiefs First Win---When?

Well with everything going on and the sheer ineptitude of this team, I'd figure to toss out another poll.  This is just stated differently.  This is not how many wins in total the Chiefs will get, but when they will get the FIRST win.  By the way, if you didn't know the bye is week 8 (11/1).  We do have some very tough games ahead, but look at the bright side, we play Cleveland.

So, vote up!

2010 Chiefs Schedule

Since this year is looking crappy again I'd figure I'd look ahead to next year. Well if the league plays the same rotation as they have the schedule will look like this: Home: Indy, AZ, STL, Hou, AFC East (MIA?) Away: Jax, TN, Sea, SF, AFC North (prolly the Browns) This doesn't look all that terrible--but I'm sure the league will change it so don't count on this. Yes and count the usual suspects as well.

Arrowhead Pride New Center?

So I was searching around on the 'ol KC paper online and saw this:

The club announced on Thursday the signing of unrestricted free agent center Eric Ghiaciuc, who has been the Cincinnati Bengals starter for the past four years.

Ghiaciuc (whose last name is pronounced GUY-check) has appeared in 48 games (42 starts) during his career with Cincinnati in 2005-08. He was the Bengals' fourth-round draft choice in 2005.

Will this be the end of RUUUUDY?  I think this might have slipped through the cracks, as I haven't read this anywhere.

Arrowhead Pride Dear Tony G

Id'd really like you to win a SB, but I'd also like to win a billion dollars (screw million).   So I decided to do some preliminary homework on how deprived you are.  First, I want to give you Dan Marino's number because when you retire, you will probably join Danny M as being the best statistically ever at your position.  So on to the prelim work.

in summary for all of the execs out there--only 16 of the 31 NFL teams have won a SB (that's 50% for the cheap seats).  the breakdown of the losers:

Bills (0-4), Bengals (0-2), Titans (0-1), Chargers (0-1), Eagles (0-2), Vikes (0-4) yeah Chiefs here, Panthers (0-1), Falcons (0-1), Seahawks (0-1), Cards (0-1).  The following 5 have never made it to the game, let alone lose it:  Browns, Jags, Texans, Lions, Saints.

Of the NFL hall--83 of those 253 enshrined played for one of these teams in a primary role.  This does not  include the likes of players who were on winning teams at some point, but they were unlucky saps because they werent on the team at the time.  A few of these include in addition:  D.T., Dan Marino (laces out, DAN), and Merlin Olsen.  I got tired and didn't have the energy to go through the other 30% (combined probability of not being on a SB team and making the HOF).  for argument's sake, let's say they all were SB winners at one way or another: waterboy, GM, or the starting QB--it shows that only 65% of folks in the HOF won a SB.

In summary---spare me the violin Tony G--it's time to continue to do what you do, score TDs. Work your way there---if you have a passion for football--it doesn't matter if you win the big game or not---it's really all commercials anyway--ask Dan Marino.  Hey, I know you would like to win, so do the other 682 starting players in the NFL--you are not entitled to it.   If you get traded--you have a 50/50 chance you will even be on a team that has won one ever. You want the Eagles?  How about the Panthers?  they look good on paper too.  Would you rather lose 2 or never go?  Is there a difference?  You'll still be able to take care of the next 10 generations in your life, if you actually take care of your money.  83 HOF players played for these teams in the past--you're great and a HOF player--best TE ever, but 83 men before you couldn't do it as the best in their position--so stay put and quit bitching.

Edit:  What now Tony G?  You said you were out if Thiggy was not the starter next year?  Waters might be able to drive you to the airport.  He's goin there too.  Hey take Pampers with you so you can carpool.

Arrowhead Pride The NFL is scared of the Chiefs now...

Lifting of the escape clause the same day as the Chiefs hire Haley?  This was done to make certain Parcells did not go to the Chiefs.

It's from Mortensen--so who knows how true this is

While Bill Parcells says he is committed to the Miami Dolphins as their executive vice president of football operations through the 2009 season, he now has an unrestricted option to walk away from the team with his fully guaranteed salary, league sources said.

Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga removed the previously reported 30-day escape clause prior to closing on the sale of the team Jan. 20 to New York real estate billionaire Stephen Ross, the sources said. The clause, which required Parcells to notify the team of his intention to leave within 30 days if ownership was transferred from Huizenga's control, was eliminated from the contract about three weeks prior to the closing of the team's sale.

Arrowhead Pride 2009 Schedule

Ok,  I'm sick of talking about our next coach, so I decided to change topics and look at the 2009 schedule.  In summary, we play the AFC North, NFC East, and the last place teams in the AFC East (Buffalo), and AFC South (Jacksonville).  As we know, 6 games in 2009 will be against teams that were in the playoffs. The overall record is 123-131 (.484).  Outside of 3 games (Baltimore, Pitts, and Phily)--I think even Herm can coach a 8-8 season. I think we might see a Turkey day game vs Dallas--who knows.  Anything less than 8-8 next year IMO will be completely unacceptable--regardless of who the HC is.
