Completed trade thoughts
Hey guys, Just completed a trade im pretty happy with and would like your guys thoughts on it. Some background on the league, 6x6 h2h keeper league im currently 2 and 3 with my pitching basically winning my games for me. I have a solid team but they just all seem to be slumping at the same time for me or on the DL. I have to name a few guys, Pedroia, Zimmerman, Dunn and McCutchen that are struggling or hurt.
My pitching like I said has been my strong point, having Josh Johnson, Greinke, Jackson, Masterson, Bailey and Dempster (whose starting to turn it around hopefully)
Anyways, I wanted another bat in the lineup that I could basically count on all year to get me solid stats. So I targeted AGon
The trade ended up being
I get:
AGon, Danks, Tabata
for
JJ, Masterson, Rios, and Ike Davis + Drew Pomeranz
--------------------
What do you guys think? Obviously it hurts to give up JJ but he is injury prone, Masterson has been lights out this year but I feel like it cant last forever and its basically a push with Danks with Danks having a little more upside in the K department. Rios is what he is and Ike Davis will hurt alittle bit, but Agon more than makes up for him plus Dunn will eventually come around.
ESPN Insider
No I dont have any breaking news on the bucs world series run this year that only ESPN insiders can read. I just want some opinions from people I know to be baseball oriented on ESPN Insider and if it is worth the 60$ for two years membership.
I do love to spend time just reading articles on baseball and mostly any sport, but I want to know if the articles that Insiders get are any better than what I can find at fangraphs or hardball times and the like.
Thanks for your guys input.
Should I do this trade
In a 12 team 7x7 league that counts strikeouts for batters and OBP, Holds and QS for pitchers as the extra categories. It is a head to head league. It is also an auction league. Ill post my complete team for you to get a better picture of what Im dealing with.
1B Adam Dunn
MI Neil Walker
OF Alex Rios
OF Andrew McCutchen
OF Michael Cuddyer
OF Denard Span
OF Nick Markakis
UTIL Kelly Johnson
and I have Jed Lowrie, Garrett Jones, Cody Ross, and Jim Thome on the bench
For my pitching staff I have Josh Johnson Zach Greinke Brandon Morrow Edwin Jackson Ryan Dempster Matt Cain Frank Francisco Joel Hanrahan Jake Westbrook Rafeal Betancourt Homer Bailey
I will also mention that this is a keeper league and we just finished up our minor league draft where I selected Taillon and Pomeranz among the notables. I received a trade request yesterday that would send Josh Johnson, Denard Span and Jameson Taillon for 2 years worth of Prince Fielder (his price is 35$ goes up 3 the first year)and Chris Coghlan At first glance I want to do this trade, I think I have the pitching available to make up for Johnson leaving and Span is expendable. Id hate to lose Taillon but Im pretty sure I could eventually get him back as this guy im trading with loves to trade. So should I do it? Thanks for all the help
Has anyone built a backyard rink
Hey guys, I figured most of you are from the Burgh area so this would be a good question since it has to deal with climate.
Im in the Air force and moving back to Erie from maryland next year and I really want to build a backyard ice rink for my son and myself (mainly for myself right now ha)
I found one through nicerink.com it would just be half the rink but thats big enough for him to learn to skate and play on.
My question is for you guys (if any) have built one when did you guys fill the rink with the water, and how long did the ice last?
I cant tell you how excited I am to do this though, we had a big hole in the ground that every winter the fire department would fill up with water and make it a pond for us to skate and play hockey on. Thats where I started out and I can remember a lot of 12 hour days just playing pickup hockey on that pond and those were some of the happiest days of my life. Of course there is no hole anymore the township extended the school over it. So now theres no place besides the lake to skate outside so I decided to build the rink (its real cheap, about 340$)
Anyways, Id like to hear your guys thoughts on how well they hold up and maybe some of your guys memories on ponds or home built rinks.

Is Staal a bigger part of our team than we thought?
We all know Staal is a huge part of our team and the style of hockey we play. But it was also assumed that the great Penguins machine would keep on churning if he suffered an injury/got traded etc etc.
But watching these past two games something seemed off to me and I cant put my finger on it. Now, I am not a statistically inclined fan so if someone would like to dig some of those fancy numbers up to refute my statement or confirm it that would be welcome.
It just looks to me like the son of a sod farmer is more integral to our team than I once believed and I miss the guy.
