Pics of Game 5 by me so don't expect the best quality. The cute guy in about 3 pictures? That's Buster Posey. The guy that looks intoxicated (but is not) is me.

Other notes: Walked by Nomar Garciaparra, yelled at Eric Karros "You suck Karros" (not my finest hour but it had been oh so long), met lots of Giants fans celebrating the first SF Giants world championship baby! Got interviewed by KRON at about 3:30 CDT while walking around the Ballpark & Cowboy Stadium.

ps. Also the Rangers fans were quite friendly & were taking pictures for me & with me (for themselves) after the game. Of course, my cheering was never rude or hostile (learned that from 14 seasons at Dodger Stadium). Very nice peeps around me in CF.

4. Posey (Carlos Santana is ahead of him at #3)
TWENTY EIGHT! - Bumgarner
84. Wheeler

I think I can get away with this little?
Posey reached the majors less than 14 months after signing his first pro contract on the strength of his bat and his advanced feel for catching, amazing for someone who only became a full-time catcher in 2007. Posey has a short, compact stroke with excellent bat control and sprays the field with line drives. He doesn't have much raw power on account of his size and the presence of just a little loft in his swing, but he makes up for it with good plate discipline, and he should post good on-base percentages in the majors. As a catcher, he has soft hands and good athleticism behind the dish with a plus arm, unsurprising for someone who was a part-time reliever in college. There's some concern about Posey's trouble catching better fastballs -- and Giants pitchers do bring the heat -- when he reached the majors, but it's possible that was merely exhaustion from Posey's first full pro season and rust from the fact that San Francisco brought him up only to have Bruce Bochy let him rot on the bench for three weeks. He could catch every day for the Giants right now if they weren't too busy throwing money at the likes of Bengie Molina.

"Sanchez whiffed even more hitters this past year, with an eye-popping 9.75 K/9 (6th among starters). His contact rate dipped to 73.8 percent. Among starters with 140+IP, only Rich Harden and Javier Vazquez had more success avoiding lumber in 2009."

"We know what we have in Pablo," Sabean said. "We know we can't overtax him"

If you can't make it, please pre-rank your players. If not, it'll go by yahoo rankings (which aren't necessarily bad, but not great). Standard categories (R, HR, RBI, SB, Avg, Wins, K, Saves, ERA, WHIP). Remember this is a head-to-head league with 6 teams making the playoffs. It should keep everyone competitive. I ask everyonet o heckle the last place owner on McCovey Chronicles to keep everyone motivated.

Thanks

McCovey Chronicles Keith Law's Giants Minor League Complex Visit

Not sure what the etiquette is for this since it's an Insider article.  But as long as I don't copy & paste the whole thing, we're good, right?  (Ed. note: Unfortunately, no.) I normally don't like Law, but then he ranted & raved about our latest draft so he's grown on me.

The link to the article is here.  It's got stuff on Villalona, Alderson, and Fairley, and it's an interesting read.

McCovey Chronicles Interest in Tony Clark

ESPN Rumor Central Link

West Coast for Clark? Tony Clark | Diamondbacks | Interested: Giants? Mariners? The Mariners and Giants both have interest in switch-hitter Tony Clark, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick. Clark hit 17 homers in 221 at-bats last year in Arizona, but the Diamondbacks decided to move in a different direction after they couldn't reach agreement with Clark on a two-year deal. Seattle might have a spot for Clark after trading Ben Broussard to Texas. San Francisco, which is currently looking at a combination of Rich Aurilia and Dan Ortmeier at first base, could also be in the market for an upgrade. Add Pedro Feliz at 3rd & we got young players blocked across the diamond! Job well done Brian.
