Terry Collins says Murphy might go back to the OF next season

Obviously some concern as he has suffered two season ending injuries at the same position in consecutive years, but I still think he should be top dog for the 2B job. That said, this is looking like the beginning of Murphy not having a starting job with the team.

Alderson: Reyes Likely Out 2-3 Weeks

via Andy Martino on Twitter "Alderson just said on WFAN "very likely" Reyes could be out 2-3 weeks again."

Giants Interest in Beltran Hits Snag

Apparently the Giants would rather pay the rest of his salary this year than give away top prospects for a rental. I have a feeling that lots of other teams feel the same way.

Are the Mets also paying for K-Rods Buyout?

This quote from Rosenthal had me confused: Rosenthal is reporting that the vesting clause is being changed to a mutual option, with the understanding that K-Rod would decline and become a free agent. The buyout on that option has been increased from $3.5 million to $4 million, which is the additional enducement given to get K-Rod to agree. Rosenthal says the Mets will pay the original buyout with the Brewers paying the additional amount, so that certainly works in the Brewers' favor.

Scott Boras Strikes Again

Chin Lung Hu has left Triple-A Buffalo due to a case of the throwing yips

For a guy whose only talent is his defense, this should pretty much end his MLB career unless he gets it sorted out.

Funny Quote about diagnosis of Ike Davis' injury the day after it occured

"Ike Davis – The Mets best hitter so far this year strained his calf. The Mets training crew ran to Ike but he slapped them when they tried to help. Late word is that he may play tomorrow but a...

Mets more likely to resign Reyes than to trade, and Wright's Option is Mets Exclusive

This only makes sense. We won't know if we can resign Reyes this year until we find out what our payroll will be, and frankly it makes little sense to trade Reyes. You won't get much for a two month rental, and Sandy n co. know that it's probably best that they get the draft picks rather than a weak trade haul. As for Wright, he wasn't in any real danger of being traded and this only cements that.

Mets unsure about origin of Wrights Injury

"David Wright will undergo an X-ray on Thursday to determine when he can resume baseball activities, GM Sandy Alderson said. Wright has a stress fracture in his lower back. The GM said the Mets are...

Wright Responds to Fred Wilpon

David Wright issued a statement via email Monday regarding recent comments by Mets chairman Jeff Wilpon. The third baseman replied Monday: "Fred is a good man and is obviously going through some...

DYK 3 National League players named children after Shea Stadium?

  1. Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones named his second son Shea after Jones' success in Shea Stadium against the Mets; he hit 19 home runs there, more than any other road park.
  2. Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Barry Larkin named his eldest daughter Brielle D'Shea, as he enjoyed playing at Shea Stadium.
  3. Former Houston Astros' Gary Cooper (third baseman) named his youngest daughter Shea after Shea Stadium. He also named his son Camden after Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Reminder for Amazin Avenue Draft Tonight

For the Jerry Manuel Memorial League, 7:30, please attend.

Maddoff Trustee now after Wilpon's Charity for Alleged Fictitious profits

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton R. Lifland recently granted Picard until Friday to amend the lawsuit. Picard is expected to add charitable funds operated by the Wilpons in the revised lawsuit, according to a source. Those funds also had alleged "fictitious profits" -- more money withdrawn than invested.

Burkhardt: Luis Castillo is quietly moving to the front of the 2b competition. If opening day was tomorrow, he'd be the starter.

Just watched Piazza's last game as a Met again from 2005

Why the HELL did Willy Randolph take him out of the game? Watching it again I was in shock to see that Randolph subbed in Mike Defelice in the 8th inning, robbing Piazza of one final at bat as a...

Roll call for last years AA fantasy baseball league

Just FYI that the league is back open. Several people have already joined up, and the spots of last years members are still open (Gina, Devone, firejerrynow, keiths moustache, etc.) feel free to...

Mets and Angels discussed Beltran deal, but Angels ultimately thought Vernon Wells was a safer fit

I mean, I understand, but it's hard to swallow that another team would rather take on Wells and his contract than Beltran.

Garza to Chicago

I've never heard of any of these people, not that it means much.

Francesa Says that the Mets Should Go Out and Sign Jeter "Tonight"

In response to Cashman saying that Jeter should test the market if he's looking for more money, Francesa said this is a prime opportunity for the Mets to make a splash by outbidding the Yanks and...

Feliciano to the Phils, Yanks?

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that the Phillies have shown interest in free agent lefty Pedro Feliciano. The Yankees are also in the running. Feliciano, 34, held left-handed hitters to a...

Quick Trade Question

Does anybody here think its possible to move Beltran or Bay for salary relief? Not even asking for real talent in return, just a straight salary dump, and if so, how much do you think we could get...
