What happened to this guy? I remember hearing how he was one of our more promising prospects, but I believe he was injured most of last year. I don't recall seeing him on any of the top 10-15...
Hope it's alright if I put these up there....I have extra Mets tickets to a game, was hoping I could put em for sale here at an amazing AA discount.... My friends and I were in a bit of a bind, and...
Does anybody else like Willie Randolph more now than they like Jerry Manuel? I remember being thrilled that Willie was fired, but almost instantly disliked Manuel due to his obnoxious use of the bullpen and dysfunctional lineups. His relationships with guys like Stokes, Church, and Castro last year bothered me, and after seeing this opening day lineup and his roster input this spring training, I can unequivocally say that I despise Jerry far more than I ever could've disliked Willie. that felt good.
MEAnybody know why the Rockies extended Helton for two more years? (through 2013). His original contract was set to expire at the end of 2011....I understand he's a fan favorite, but it doesn't seem...
Just a heads up. Good Luck

At least we're still probably on Alex Cora's good side...
Mets GM Omar Minaya told Newsday's Ken Davidoff Tuesday that Fernando Nieve is "probably fifth on the Mets' starting rotation depth chart." Nieve, 27, had a 2.95 ERA in eight appearances (seven starts) last season, but peel back the curtain a bit and you'll find an ugly 1.50 WHIP and a 23/19 K/BB ratio. He may struggle in the early going if awarded the gig. Keep in mind the Mets are still targeting guys like Ben Sheets and John Smoltz. -via twitter by way of Rotoworld
"A source told Tim Kurkjian of ESPN.com that the Mets could possibly sign free agent catcher Bengie Molina in "the next 48 to 72 hours." It's rare that a free agent signing is a considered a foregone conclusion, but this is almost destined to get done eventually. The Mets have held firm on one year, while the 35-year-old Molina has insisted upon a three-year contract. It's very possible that they will meet in the middle."
Aroldis Chapman -- five yr $25 million contract with the Reds. The Cuban left-hander drew bids this winter from baseball's biggest spenders and several surprise teams, but the Reds stepped forward and grabbed him with an overwhelming offer. Perhaps Cincinnati management finally came to the realization that they must establish a strong pitching staff in order to win ball games in the cozy confines of Great American Ballpark. Chapman's fastball has been clocked in the triple-digits but he has no major league experience and his first year in the show may be an adventure." :( for a few minutes there i thought might've been surprised. Here's to piniero for two years, 15 mil.
rotoworld.comA person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press the New York Mets are nearing agreement on a minor league contract with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the deal was not yet complete. The 35-year-old right-hander made 14 starts for Seattle in 2008 but was primarily a reliever for Minnesota last season, when he went 1-1 with a 4.62 ERA in one start and 34 relief appearances.
"FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners have agreed to trade Brandon Morrow to Toronto for RHP Brandon League and a prospect. Let's hope for the Mariners' sake that this other "prospect" is highly talented. League, 26, is a nice relief pitcher but is destined for a career as a setup man or middle reliever. He had a 4.58 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 76/21 K/BB in 74 2/3 innings this past season for Toronto. Morrow, 25, boasts a high-powered fastball and strong potential as a future No. 2 or No. 3 starter."
rotoworld.com"Mets signed RHP Clint Everts to a minor league contract. Everts, a former first-round pick of Omar Minaya in 2002, posted a 1.65 ERA in 44 relief appearances between three levels in the Nationals'...
Bengie Molina was three years from the Mets...figures he's entitled to it because Kendell and Pudge both signed for two years...can't really argue with him there. I hope the mets don't do it...
I'm gonna make this brief since it will probably get a violent reaction here. 1. Trade Beltran/Castillo to the Yanks for Cano (not equivalent talent, but a salary dump) 2. Sign Holiday. 3. Trade some good prospects to the Nats for Nyjer Morgan. This obviously wasn't my first choice, I'd have liked to gotten in on Granderson for CF or maybe plugged Figgins in at 2B instead if I had known they would have come so relatively cheap. But me and some friends were kickin this around last night and it saves money and I think makes the team better. It makes the Yankees pretty godlike, but they'd have to make it to the world series again before that becomes any of our concern. This deal makes the Mets younger at 2B, CF, and LF, cuts payroll overall from any other potential options, and in my opinion makes the team better overall than simply signing Jason Bay.
"A major league source told WEEI.com that one team has extended an offer beyond four years for free agent outfielder Jason Bay. It's not the Red Sox. The Mets are the most recent team to enter the...
Trade For Russell Martin? ------------------------ He's considered "no longer untouchable" by the Dodgers. I always liked him, not sure what it would take to get him though. What's the consensus...
Catcher Swap Complete -- Phillies sign Schneider According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Phillies have agreed to terms with free agent catcher Brian Schneider. Schneider will serve as backup to Carlos Ruiz in Philadelphia. The 33-year-old hit .218/.292/.335 with three homers and 24 RBI over 194 plate appearances in 2009. He is a .251/.323/.374 career hitter.
rotoworld.comTrading for Miguel Cabrera --- Worth it? "According to Lynn Henning of the Detroit News, Miguel Cabrera might be as available as any other Tigers player this winter. The Tigers need to cut payroll and are shopping all of their superstars this offseason. Cabrera is by far the most talented played in Detroit, but he'll also command the largest (and most talented) chunk of prospects. The 26-year-old hit .324/.396/.547 in 2009 with 34 homers, 34 doubles and 103 RBI. He finished fourth in this year's American League MVP voting." I personally hate the guy, but he's a filthy baseball player, ridiculously young, very talented.
rotoworld.comHope this isn't true.. "Bill Madden of the New York Daily News says the Mets will have about $20 million to spend this offseason. Madden says the Mets are certain to reduce their $147 million payroll and should be counted out of the Lackey, Holliday and Bay sweepstakes. Madden goes on to say that second-tier free agents should be their focus with priorities being left-field and two starting pitchers, naming Jason Marquis specifically."
rotoworld.comAnybody know any good websites to find old video footage of games from years past? Specifically I'm trying to find some Mets videos from 1999-2000, but youtube is bust, and the MLB.com has the worst search function I've ever seen. I type in "Todd Pratt NLDS" and I get Hanley Ramirez post game interviews. Even old Gary Cohen radio calls (Grand Slam Single) would be great. Thanks
If the Mets could somehow pull off a trade for Adrian Gonzalez, would the community here be willing to do so if it meant blocking Ike Davis? Or is Gonzalez, and whatever prospects a trade for him...
