Position players in Free Agency

Kevin Towers has made clear that his priority is going to be position players. Position players needed are 3B and perhaps a LF bat.
I like the following guys:
1| Cuddyer-can play 3B, 1B and LF (he was actually playing some 2B this year). Primo bat. He could start everyday at different positions plugging in for Parra, RyRo, Goldschmidt as necessary. You could probably string together a full season of at-bats managing injuries, slumps and left handed pitchers. If you are paying for Cuddyer, you are paying for the bat (which should be pretty darn good at Chase) and you can pretty much put him anywhere but 2B, CF and C.
2| Kubel-3 20 HR seasons can provide some power off bench. Price may be too high for the role he'd have on this team.
3| Ankiel-power, a cannon and a low price tag. He's intriguing if you don't want to go big in Free Agency. He could play any of the 3 positions. He's the dream 4th outfielder.
4| Hairston-Right handed so he could play some LF.
5| Ludwick-good if you can get him really cheap.
I think on this list, I'm not thrilled with Kubel and Ludwick for a lot of money. For what the DBacks need there's not a lot out there.

Which players that have fallen off the ballot since 2000 deserve a look by the Veterans Committee? the first bit of info is why they were taken off the ballot low percentage=less than 5%, 15ed and out =15 years on ballot.
