My Summer Gigs...volume 1

Some of you have e-mailed me at my website asking when my gigs are and if I'm going to be playing anywhere in the sactown area.Of course, you could go over to the stockton record's website:
http://www.recordnet.com
to view my gigs on the calendar there when they crop up; but that won't  tell anyone when I'm in Sac, so...I'll just post it here.

The good news is I'll be playing in TZ's hometown of Vacaville on June 30th from 12:00 to 3:00 approximately for the opening of the new Nugget Market with a Latin Band I play with called the Lopez Bros. (We have also played in Roseville and at the Sacramento Zoo for their Summer Wine Series). Now this isn't my band per se, but they're aimiable amigos and I can do the King's song if it's requested. If you want to see my group, Rhondda Nunes n' the Rockin' Blues Xpress you'll have to cross the Sac county line and head on down to Lodi where I'll be performing this friday from 6:00-9:00 pm at Royce Farms BBQ at 8-mile & highway 99.Love to see any of you at either place...

Bring Back Coachie...dammit!

I've got no real objections to any of the possible assistants proposed as a head coach for the Sacramento Kings....

I liked how Scott Brooks handled the team during the summer league & while the Muss was DOA(oopsie...I meant DUI)...I like Reggie Theus, too(but I'd rather he'd practice being an head coach somewhere else after the leap from college; it's not as if the NBA is the College game; nor is New Mexico State UCLA, but never mind....)

No objections to Bill Laimbeer either(oh wait?...no one mentioning him?Oh yeah...that's right, he "only" coaches gurls; despite his ring.Still;he needs to practice being a head coach somewhere else too...like Theus. I've got nothing against these guys; it's just that..... I want more, dammit.

What's in it for Ron Artest to ditch his anger.

We can all see the obvious things...Ron Artest needs to cut it out before he harms himself or those he's encharged to protect. But after re-reading Eric Adelson's article "Scary Good":

http://espn.go.com/magazine/vol6no02artest.html

I can see what's in it for Ron Ron. As he told a therapist;"I'm spoiled...I want things my way. Basketball has allways been something I felt I could control."

Indeed. And getting things your way all the time certainly puts one in control doesn't it?Ron Ron's anger gives him edge on the court. Makes him desirous of keeping out an opponents garbage. The more frustrated he gets, the harder he plays.Good for him.

But getting rid of the anger wouldn't just benefit  his personal life and lower his stress levels.Getting rid of the hold frustration has on him could also make him a better baller and really put his soul in control....

The Kings are breakin' my heart & holding back music.

I think I've finally reached the breaking point.really.How am I supposed to come up with a new version of a song based on a sparkling King's offense & tenacious 'd' when it doesn't exist on the court for more than two quarters in a row lately?

I thought I had it last night in the second quarter; came up with a verse on the fly only to tear it up in the 3rd quarter in disgust. To add insult to injury,a music agency south of the evil empire of Mordor has weighed in on how "unmarketable" a song about the Kings is:"The lyric...has only limited appeal...to people...who love the Kings...We'd love to hear what you could do with a lyrical sentiment that has more universal appeal".Implied I'm wasting my talent writing a song about the Kings...is that true?
