Wallace scores G for 2nd straight game
I knew this guy could score some goals.
Santana not sure whether ready for opening day
I hope we are not talking about the return all season again, of course with this team why would anyone want to hurry back
Selanne moving up on all time lists
Teemu Selanne is 41 years old and still scoring goals at a very high rate. He currently sits at 14th on the all time list with 639 goals, this includes the 2 goals last night. I am amazed at how well this guy is playing at what could be considered a senior citizens level in pro hockey. I wonder where he ends up on the all time list.
14th is Selanne 639
13- Dave Andreychuk at 640
12- Jagr -646 will Jagr be good enough still to stay in front of Selanne
11- Capt Shanahan- 656
10 Luc Robataille- 668
9- Mario Lemieux- 690
8- Steve Yzerman- 692
7- Mark Messier- 694
6- Mike Gartner- 708
5- Phil Esposito- 717
4- Marcel Dionne- 731
3- Brett Hull- 741
2- Gordie Howe- 801
1-Wayne Gretzky- 894
Where do you think he ends up? How many more years does he play? He has still been productive with 31/49/80 in 73 games last season.
Tigers interested in Reyes
rumors are going to fly all over about Reyes, but it may be interesting to ponder the what ifs?
Tigers with reyes are pretty awesome, Cabrera and V Martinez willdrive him in a ton, Reyes if healthy easily scores over 100 runs, maybe closer to 125
Matt Kemp could win the triple crown
Imagine he is so close to a tripe crown but because LAD sucks he is probably no where near the top of the MVP ballot
How will Ochocinco do this season in NE?
I was just looking at Chad Ochocinco's career number after reading an article on yahoo about him becoming a company man now that he is with the New Englad Patriots. I was wondering if people think he will do better statistically in NE. Randy Moss joined the Pats in 07 at the age of 30 and put up some of his best numbers with 98/1493/23 after doing horrible in OAK for 2 season (06 stats 42/553/3 in 13 games) and his final season in MIN. Will "85" be similar. He had a better final season in CIN than Moss in OAK with his line being 67/831/4 in 14 games but he is 33. Brady is older but I am not sure if he is any worse, haven't seem any signs of deteriation yet.
I think he grabs about the average 75 catches, but Ochocinco's best year for TDs was 10 and I believe he grabs 12+ with Brady.
AZ fans throw water at Fielder and his kids
The article talks a lot about who is more valuable next year, Prince or Albert but what I got pissed about was the AZ fans. It is OK to boo a guy in the stadium but when he is driving in with his wife and kids it is disgusting. Where are people's values these days?
RB Mendenhall causes stir with bin Laden tweets
it is sad that some of todays younger generation think this way
Wigginton’s milestone 1000 hit a HR
nice to see him getting to 1000 hits
Mets SP vs Phils SP
so far the Mets have had 16 games and the starters have made it 85.1 or 5.1IP/GS, while the Phils have played 15 games and the starters have gone 93.1 or 6.1IP/GS. That translates into the Mets needing the bullpen to pitch 162 more innings than the Phils over the season. That is basically 2 more full seasons from a RP for the season. That is why you sign good SP.

Calder Trophy: Will it go to Grabner?
We have been seeing the Stats on most of the games since about Mid-February and Grabner pushed himself to the top of the rookie goal scorers. I think he is the most exciting player we have but will Skinner's full season of points push be rewarded with the Trophy. There is no doubt that since 2011 rolled in Grabner is the best rookie, and in my opinion that should earn him the honors, but lets look at all the numbers and some of the other rookies.
3 top runners
RW Grabner NYI 33G/17A/50P/+14/14:58 TOI/15.1shoot%
C Skinner CAR 30G/29A/59P/+4/16:40/14.6%
C Couture SJ 31/23/54/+19/17:48/12.6%
others
D- Fowler ANA 10/30/40/-26/22:11 -26 kills his chances
D Hamonic NYI 3/20/23/+7/21:24 in 60 games
D Carlson WAS 7/30/37/+22/22:38 awesome +22 nice numbers all around
LW Ennis BUF 19/29/48/0/15:44/9.3%
C Stepan NYR 21/23/44/+8/16:22/12.8% Boo!!! but nice rookie season
G-Bobrovsky PHI 28-13-7/ 2.51/.917
G Crawford CHI 32-17-6/2.27/.918
G Reimer TOR 20-9-5/2.55/.922
another nice rookie class but I agree with the top 3 guys being the ones in the running. I was a little surprised at the numbers for Carlson for Washington, very strong season. The Goalies have good numbers but 3 rookie 30 goal scorers are tough to argue.
Off the subject but Duchene has passed JT with 65 points now, and is at 120 to JT 118 for their careers. Turning out to be an interesting comparison.
First Mets Run- FMR for 4/8 vs WAS
First Mets Run(FMR) is essentially a guessing game where everyone on this website can post who they think will score the first run. Everyone is given 1 guess. The guess must be posted by the start time of the game. Any guess posted after the start time of the game will be considered invalid. The guess must include the following information in this format: Scorer (INNING, # OF OUTS AT TIME OF RUN SCORED, BATTER WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE RUN BEING SCORED [aka batter who receives the RBI]) Examples: Reyes(1rd, 1 Out, Wright). In this case, Reyes was on base, it was the 1st inning, there was 1 out on the board, and Wright would receive the RBI. Wright(1st, 2 Outs, Wright). In this case Wright hit a solo home run. Note - If Wright hits a home run but Reyes was on 3rd base - Reyes scored first. The winner would be whoever selected Reyes, not Wright. Now you may be asking, where do I post my guess ...please post them within this fan shot and follow these 2 simple rules. 1). Please keep all debate out of this fan shot to help me make it easier to find the winner once a run is scored. 2). If someone has posted the scorer you were going to choose you can still use that scorer, but please reply to your scorer's thread. Example - if I post Reyes(1st, 1, Wright) and you want to post Reyes(3rd, 1 Pagan), please reply your guess to mine because we both chose Reyes as the scorer. This way it will be easy to target the correct winner quickly and efficiently. The whole point of this is to have some fun so make sure you post your FMR for every game. I will try and keep a running tally of all the winners If you have any questions, please ask them under the questions thread in this fan shot. We did something similar to this at LightHouse Hockey, the Islanders page for the First Isles Goal(FIG) every game. I will try to add the FMR fanshot for every game, and may add all the games before each series. Thanks and enjoy!
Gotta love the first weeks standings
The Royals and O's in 1st place and the Pirates in 2nd with a 3-1 record. I actually think the O's will be pretty good because of their SP, the Bucs will compete with their bats but do not have pitching and KC will fall apart completely
Phillies Release Luis Castillo
Ouch twice in one ST, that gotta hurt
Avs slump reaching Islander's proportions
Colorado lost its ninth straight game (0-8-1), and now has just one win in the last 20 (1-17-2).
Iginla scores 30 for 10th straight season
It is just an awesome accomplishment that I thought needed to be out there. Plus he has 28 or more for 12 straight seasons and is closing in on 1000 points.
Wellman, Theodore lift Wild over Rangers
Rangers in danger of falling out of playoff spot. They are only 2 points ahead of BUF with BUF having 3 games in hand. TOR is 3 points back in 10th with 1 game in hand. So I have something new to root for the next few weeks, NYR to miss the playoffs
Colts release injury-prone Bob Sanders
I know he has been hurt a lot, but wow he would be awesome next to Troy if he could stay healthy.
Canucks lose another defenseman to injury
Could the Canucks be the team that looks to trade for Martinek? It would be great for him, a real nice chance at the Cup
Sens' Murray nowhere near done
Spezza possibly going! I always liked this guy, he is way too expensive for us. who do youthink would want to grab him?
Ducks deal for Beauchemin; Leafs get Lupul
wow Leafs got nice return. Lupul may still come back now that he is healthy, Gardiner is a good young D, and a late round pick
Super Bowl gets a cold shoulder
This article just pissed me off. It basically says that the SB should only be played in Miami, NO, and SD. It says it is stupid to have it at cold weather stadiums. I say the opposite, every city that has an NFL team should be able to host the SB for their fans and their small business owners. the $$$ it generates would be great for a city like Pittsburgh.
