Red Sox Ticket Scam
I'm a Red Sox fan now living in DC. I live two blocks from Nats Stadium and could even get into the team and the stadium (different league so not cheating!), and I've gone to a few games. I like Adam Dunn as a player, and I think the team could be decent with some pitching. However, I think the Nats have just lost a potential fan and patron. This "you can only buy Red Sox tickets if you buy a package" thing is pure larceny.
I realize they're not selling out any games, and this is an opportunity for them to make a little extra scratch. BUT, they're holding fans hostage and making them buy at least 4 tickets they probably don't want. Red Sox nation goes on the road with the team a lot, and a lot of New England Sox fans are probably planning vacations around this, and now they have to buy a ridiculous package of games they CAN'T even see to make that happen. I'm sorry, but I just feel like this is scandalous, and that it's bad relations for the team. If you build it, they will come: Meaning, if you build a good team (and the Nats are working on it) the fans will come. If you hold them hostage like this, they won't.
I had another incident at the park too. I went one time with a friend who had never been to a ballgame before. We were low on cash and going on a whim, so we asked for the "cheap seats" and were told they were sold out. sold out?! Against the Pirates?! I knew it was a lie, but I bought the tickets anyway at twice the price. It's obviously a trick to give away all the tickets and claim they're sold out so you can sell the pricier ones, and to me, that's an underhanded scam and it's bound to turn off potential fans like myself.
So, I'm not buying the package to see my beloved Red Sox. In fact, I'm never going to another Nats game if this is the way they conduct business. I will go to the park on the days of the Sox games and see if they will sell me an individual ticket. But if not, I'm all done with this stadium and this management. What do you think? Will they sell them on game day?
