"My parents got divorced and I moved away from everybody I knew in New York City to Los Angeles and there's been a chip building on my shoulder since," Britton said. "People have told me I haven't been good enough, not fast enough, not big enough, not tough enough. That all ends here today, I'll tell you that much." Projected to be a late first-round pick, Britton - a scholar-athlete award winner - started 37 games over three seasons, lining up at right tackle for 24 outings and moving to left tackle last season. On 1,299 pass plays during Britton's career, opponents logged 10 sacks and three quarterback pressures on his side (the club gave up a total of 88 sacks during Britton's 37 games). Britton also scored a 10 (the highest score) on psychological testing administered by the Jags at the NFL Scouting Combine. "He's not a cocky player," general manager Gene Smith said. "He's a guy that does have leadership qualities. Certainly I think he felt he may go earlier. It didn't work out that way. But we're certainly happy to have him." -Eben Britten and Gene Smith

BCC Mock Draft: With the Eighth Selection The Jacksonville Jaguars select USC Quarterback Mark Sanchez. I'm feeling a little transcendental this morning, so I decided to go with Mark Sanchez, despite my reservations about the Jaguars adding a quarterback to a team with so many other needs. Of course, the best case would be for the Jaguars to trade with another team that eyes the USC star, but that's another story. The Jaguars need to start developing a young quarterback, there's no debate about that. Putting Sanchez behind Garrard for a few seasons is a fantastic way to prevent the meltdown of a first round quarterback, especially knowing how talented Sanchez could be. So with all that in mind, the Jaguars take the QB and start looking toward round two as the one that addresses the offensive or defensive line.
