Hemsky's problem is Horcoff's contract

Assume Hemsky could be resigned at 5-5.5 million for 4 years. When the contracts come due for the kids, Tambi will need to manage that 5.5 mil cap hit of horcoff. If he really wants hemsky, he can...

Standings - Final Projection

+

Given the Oil have 36 points and 40 games to go the most optimistic and unlikely win percentage is .5 for a total of 40 points in for the remainder of the season. That would mean finishing with 76 points well within lotto range 6-3 pick based on last 2 years final standings. Realistic, less than 4 -.4.5 win rate and 32-36 points over the final 40 for a finish of 68-72 points. Good for 2nd-3rd overall at the draft the last 2 years. CLBs has secured No. 1 baring a miraculous recovery. Carolina and Anaheim stand a good chance of out playing (they are not missing their top 2 FWDs and Top 2 D) the oil in the final 38-40 to finish with about 70-74 points With the 2nd overall draft pick for 2012, the Edmonton Oilers select....Ryan Murray! Impending Lockout? RNH to the WHL -->AHL --> NHL

4

Ottawa Sun scribe Bruce Garrioch got this response from an unnamed NHL executive after the weekend’s free-agent spending spree finally wound down: "I cannot believe some of the deals. Well, enjoy the lockout." Just a thought. If the Oilers really feel the NHL will end up in a lockout in the 2012-13 year, does it not make sense to send RNH back to the WHL, and let him play in the AHL the following year instead of burning 2 years of his entry level contract of which the 2nd would be not playing in the NHL.

Barker vs. Gilbert

In all, Barker has 92 points in 271 games for a 0.34 points per game average. Meanwhile, Tom Gilbert has scored 0.42 points per game over 337 games. Gilbert is minus-25 and Barker is minus-26 over their two careers.

Here's hoping the Kings go on a loosing streak

Best case scenario for the Oil...Kings miss the playoffs and finish 9-10 in a tight western conf. Our first rounder will be a lot more valuable! Realistically, that 3rd rounder conditional will...

"What's interesting here is that Blum is a right-handed shot, and usually Barry Trotz prefers to have lefties play on the left side, and righties on the right. With Suter on the shelf, however, the Preds will sport 4 right-handed shooting defensemen, so it will be interesting to see who gets moved over to the other side, and of course who gets to play alongside Shea Weber."
