A possible FA option for Denver to add to the interior line?

A 4th-round tender for a starting Guard is something worth exploring for the Broncos. Sims is only 26, and at 312 lbs. is big enough to play in the power scheme being implemented in Denver.

Oakland, CA - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Bay Area courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Oakland Raiders Football Team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Blatantly lifted from Talking Chop (with some minor changes). I just figured we MHRers could all use a good laugh, and mocking the Raiders is always on-topic.

Clemson WR Jacoby Ford says he can guarantee he will run in the 4.2s at February's Scouting Combine.

Sounds like Ford is gunning for Chris Johnson's record. "I can guarantee a 4.2," said the NCAA track star, who ran a 4.126 in high school. "Yes, sir. It's just running." The knock on Ford entering the Senior Bowl was that he doesn't have as much speed in pads. But he's been one of the top risers this week.

Sitting in front of Josh McDaniels. head coach from Denver...impressed by Cody

Oof. No thanks. Does anyone here trust a D-lineman who can't maintain his weight? I strongly question his work ethic.

This doesn’t mean there’s no chance for Watson to be a Patriot in 2010. If the market is really bad for him, he may not have much of a choice, if they make him an offer. But based on what I hear, it’s looking like he’ll head elsewhere.

Ben Watson to be a free agent

Given the McDaniels connection, we may as well discuss this and the likelihood that he is brought in to replace Tony Scheffler in the offense.

Let me stress the fact that this is ONLY a rumor, but I am writing it, so that we can discuss it.

On the face of things it looks like a great idea. Think about it. Al Davis needs someone to take over the team that he trusts and that he has respect for. You have to believe that Jon won his respect when he wooped the Raiders in the Super Bowl and then watched his team go into a terrible downward spiral without "Chucky".

Al Davis also said, last year, that we going to bring in a football person who would surprise everyone. Other than one of the Mikes, Lombardi or Shanahan, who would shock recent fans more than the one who got away.

This may be just a pipe dream, but there have been implications from peopel like John Madden, himself, that Gruden would be the person brought in to run things when Al passes the torch.

With Gruden coming into town and partying with Raider fans at Ricky's in San Leandro last Saturday and then this rumor being tossed about, a Raider can dream can't he?

Interesting rumor from Silver and Black Pride: Jon Gruden To Receive 5% Of The Team And Take Over For Davis

Just a rumor, but could make for interesting discussion. This is very relevant to the Broncos and the rest of the AFC West, so what do you think of Jon Gruden in charge in Oakland?

This guy is just what the Chiefs need to be feared again on D and that guy is Elvis Dumervil. With Dumervil leading the NFL in sacks this year with 15 I don'tsee how Denver can resign him with all there free agents the have this year and Dumervils biggest hero growing up was DT so what better way to be like DT then to be the league sack leader for the Chiefs! With these two rushing the passer it would go along way towards improving are defense and making people forget about Jared Allen.

The last time San Diego visited Kansas City, the AFC West dominoes began to fall. It all started when the Chiefs couldn’t hold on to an onsides kick attempt late in the game. It would have sealed the win for the Chiefs. Instead, San Diego completed an unlikely Week 15 comeback. Had the Chiefs held on for the win, Denver would have clinched the division. Had that happened, Mike Shanahan wouldn’t have been fired. Jay Cutler wouldn’t have been traded. Josh McDaniels likely would have been the choice in Kansas City by new general manager Scott Pioli. Norv Turner likely would have been fired and the Chargers would be starting over instead of the Broncos. It’s truly amazing what kind of impact one bounce of the ball can have on a division.

Mile High Report Jarvis Moss on the block

It appears that Denver was looking to deal Jarvis Moss yesterday. What kind of return were they hoping to get from the 17th overall choice from 2 drafts ago? A 7th-round pick.

Mile High Report Draft sleepers from small schools

I saw this over on Bolts From The Blue, and thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention here on MHR:

Draft sleepers from small schools

Vaughn Martin/DT/Western University: Only on rare occasions does a college player from Canada catch the fancy of NFL decision makers, and that's exactly what Vaughn Martin has done. Five teams went to London, Ontario, to watch Martin work out on the second Saturday in March. The 327-pound defender put on a show, running as fast as 5.07 in the 40 after completing 31 reps on the bench.

Martin has the size and strength to be used at nose tackle or middle guard. The Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers and Carolina Panthers not only attended Martin's workout, but also brought him to the states for an official visit.

Just something nice to think about heading into this weekend. Another NT candidate for us wouldn't be a bad pickup in one of the later rounds. With Raji not likely to last until #12, and Brace not likely to last until #48, it doesn't hurt to look at lower-profile guys like this.
