Appreciate the Underappreciated:Tim Duncan's 15 Years of Dominance
Tim Duncan's Quest for a 5th Ring
Sports Illustrated's Chris Ballard beat me to the punch. On May 21, Wake Forest's own Tim Duncan was on the cover, and was the topic of the cover story. On the cover read, 'Finally getting to know the greatest, least appreciated player of his generation.' I couldn't have said it better myself. Right before our very eyes is someone who is a top-10 player of all-time, and is without question, the greatest power forward to ever play the game. Yet, the national media (ESPN) just takes his greatness for granted. They never take the time to stop and talk about Tim Duncan's greatness. They just quickly acknowledge his greatness and then move on to discuss players who have a greater national appeal like Andrew Bynum and Dwight Howard, even though neither of those two players will ever come close to Duncan's level of all-time greatness. They are too concerned about getting ratings, and someone who is humble and the consummate professional is just not good business for ESPN. After the jump, I'll go in-depth about his greatness with the hopes of spreading the word.
Chris Paul: Lob City Resident, Local Hero
The Origin of Lob City
You must check out this video! The Origin of Lob City
Earlier today I was on Facebook, and this video popped up on my news feed. It's called 'The Origin of Lob City.' I haven't stopped watching since. Anyone who has seen it knows exactly what I mean. It was absolutely captivating to watch videos of Chris Paul throw perfectly timed alley-oops to the likes of Trent Strickland and Jamaal Levy. Anyone who has been watching the NBA Playoffs this year has seen exactly why the Los Angeles Clippers are appropriately called 'Lob City.' After the jump, I'll take a bit about Chris Paul's career, his strong Wake connection and his playoff run with the Clippers.
In the comments section, feel free to add any great memories you had watching Chris Paul. I'd love to hear about them I was still in high school and was not able to experience this in person.

Wake Will Rise Again
Ed. Note: This is another in a series of pieces detailing and exploring the future of the Wake Forest program.
I have an opinion. It's not popular, but I truly believe that Jeff Bzdelik can lead Wake Forest to greatness. I realize the last two years have been far from greatness, given our 21-42 record, but I still believe. After the jump I'll tell you exactly why I feel that way. I hope that this article can bring about a healthy conversation.
Wake vs. Maryland Preview
On March 8th, our Demon Deacons will take on the Maryland Terrapins in the No. 8 vs. No. 9 matchup of the ACC Tournament. This will be their first meeting since the January 11th matchup, which the Deacs lost 70-64 at Comcast. After the jump I'll provide a quick recap of that game, and what I believe our Deacs will need to do in order to pull out a victory.
Duke Vs. Wake Preview
February 28
9:00 p.m.
ESPNU
On February 28, the Duke Blue Devils will travel to Winston-Salem to take on our Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Duke will be looking to win its final two games against Wake Forest and North Carolina, respectively, to win the ACC Regular Season Championship and make a legitimate case to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Deacs are coming off their most impressive game of the season. The 29 point victory over Boston College was Wake's biggest victory of the season and was its second win in the past three games.
Wake looks to ruin Duke's run at an ACC Title and defeat the Blue Devils for the first time since 2009. We hope to see you all at The Joel tomorrow night!
Wake Forest @ Miami Preview: Deacs Take Their Talents To South Beach
The Deacs are taking their talents to South Beach this weekend to take on the Miami Hurricanes, who are 5-2 in their last seven games, including a huge win at Cameron Indoor. Between Durand Scott, Malcolm Grant, and Reggie Johnson, this team is very talented.
They now have a coach with Final Four experience in Jim Larranaga who has shown he can get his teams to play their best around this time of the season. The Deacs certainly have their hands full on Saturday, but there's always the chance they can pull a major upset.
Find out more after the jump about Wake's opponent, the Hurricanes, after the jump...
Georgia Tech vs. Wake Forest Preview
Wednesday February 15
7:30 P.M.
Television: RSN, ESPN3
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will travel to Winston-Salem on Wednesday night to take on our Wake Forest Demon Deacons, in what will be a battle between the two bottom-dwellers in the ACC. I think all of the Wake fans will be curious to see how the Deacs respond to that shocker against Clemson. Most everyone I know expected the game to be close, and things just completely fell apart in the second half. Now, Vegas has the Deacs as two point favorites, so we will see which team shows up to The Joel on Wednesday night. I'll provide some analysis after the jump. As always, please feel free to comment!
Play Tiger Rag: Wake vs. Clemson Preview
Wake Forest vs. Clemson (4:00)
Fox Sports South/ESPN3
Clemson -3.5
On Saturday afternoon our Deacs will look to rebound from their embarrassing loss at Virginia. The performance against Virginia was this team's worst since that horrific showing against N.C. State on January 14th. Clemson opened up as 4.5 point favorites, but the line has since moved down to 3.5.
The Deacs will look to get revenge from their 71-60 loss at Little John on January 28th. The Deacs will also try snap a five game losing streak, with their last win coming at Boston College on January 21st. Read the rest of the preview after the jump.
Wake Forest vs. NC State Preview
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (11-11, 2-6) will travel down I-40 and take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack (16-7,5-3) on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in the RBC Center. The Deacs will look to rebound from their embarrassing loss to the Wolfpack in mid-January.
The Deacs opened up as 13 point underdogs and the line has since risen to 14.
The Game is on ESPN3 and ACC Network.
We'll be here tomorrow on the game thread. Stop on by, and enjoy the game with us. I'd also recommend reading our coffee table talk. I felt that it went in a great direction and we all gave very informed opinions.
Below the jump I'll provide some stats and analysis. As always, please feel free to leave comments and let's cheer on the Deacs!
Virginia Tech @ Wake Forest Gamethread: ACC Opener
It's time to see how our Deacs handle the ACC season. We've seen a much improved team against the non-conference opponents, will that carry over to the ACC? We'll find out at noon. I'll be here, so please stop by and chat along.
Game is on ESPN 3 and Raycom/ACC network.
Week 11 Power Rankings
I'm still not over the Wake loss on Saturday, but we must move on. After impressive performances by over the past several weeks, I have moved Virginia Tech and Florida State to #'s 1 and 2 respectively.

#BeatClemson
This game could very well decide the winner of the Atlantic division. The Deacs are 17 points underdogs, but they were 14 point dogs against Notre Dame, and were able to take the lead into halftime. In order to win this game, Sammy Watkins must be contained. Tight end, Dwayne Allen, is also a major concern. He is arguably the best tight end in the country, and could cause some serious mathcup problems. To beat Clemson, the Deacs must eliminate turnovers, have great special teams, and win the mental game. If they can do those things, then they have a chance to emerge victorious. The bye week for Clemson allowed them to nurse injuries. Dabo Swinney says that Andre Ellington is back to full strength, which is bad news for the Deacons' rush defense. Last week, fellow speedster Cierre Wood, rushed for 87 yards on just 14 attempts against the Deacs last week.
I'll be chatting along with you guys the entire game. We finally got ESPNU to work on campus, so that should allow more of our students the opportunity to see the game. Go Deacs!
Week 10 Power Rankings
I apologize for the delay in getting these up. It has been a tremendously busy week here at Mother So Dear. Now it's time for the weekend and for me to tell you what I think the ACC picture looks like at this point. You might be surprised immediately following the jump. As always, please feel free to comment.
Week 9 Power Rankings
Clemson went as the Clemson of old for Halloween this year. In typical Clemson fashion they lose a game which they shouldn't have lost, and now they are eliminated from the BCS discussion. They now no longer look invincible, and perhaps Virginia Tech could beat them if they were to face in the ACC Championship. Who knows, maybe even Wake Forest can travel to Death Valley and come back with a victory. Maybe dreams do come true.
Wake vs. UNC Gamethread
Homecoming game for UNC

GTHC!
Let's go Deacs! Let's become bowl eligible and stay in the hunt for the ACC!
By the Numbers: Wake vs. North Carolina
Josh Harris returns to action tomorrow. Hopefully he'll help lead the Deacs to our first bowl since 2008.
Just a quick breakdown of stats. We will be having a gamethread and chatting live. We really look forward to talking with you guys about what should be a very exciting game. This should come down to Wake's rush defense and the turnover margin.
Week 8 Power Rankings
Several weeks ago I thought there was a legitimate chance that the ACC would have ten bowl eligible teams. Well, clearly I was incorrect with that assessment. As it stands now, I definitely see seven teams being eligible, with Virginia being the wild card. Wake v. North Carolina and Clemson v. Georgia Tech will be very telling games this week.
OLB Dominique Gibson Commits to Wake Forest
Wake-Duke Preview
Week 7 Power Rankings
If we learned anything this week, I think it was the fact that it's not over yet. Virginia Tech had their second impressive win in a row, and Georgia Tech showed some vulnerability. Given those two turn of events, all of a sudden the Coastal Division is up for grabs. Meanwhile in the Atlantic, Clemson mounted a furious comeback. I still think they'll be fine moving forward, but it proves that they can be beaten. I'm moving the rankings around a fair amount this week, so please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section.
Hokies will be without 2 defensive starters against Wake
Defensive End James Gayle and Outside Linebacker Jeron Gouveia-Winslow will miss the game on Saturday night due to injury. Gayle was unable to practice this week after injuring his ankle against Miami. Unfortunately, Gouveia-Winslow will have to undergo surgery on his foot that will cause him to miss the remainder of the season.
Given that Josh Harris will be an emergency back this week, and that they are a defensive oriented team, this should play into Wake's advantage.
Per CBS Sports: http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156338/32697897
Aaron Curry Traded to Oakland
Former Demon Deacon All-American Linebacker
Former Butkus award winner and 4th overall draft pick, Aaron Curry, has been traded to the Oakland Raiders for a 2012 7th round pick and a 2013 mid round pick (depending on performance).
Week 6 Power Rankings: Oh How the Mighty Have Fallen
I think it's fair to say that Florida State has not lived up to the preseason hype. 2 months ago they were being anointed the runaway ACC Champions. Yet, on October 11, they have yet to win a conference game. Instead, a Wake Forest team coming off a 3-9 season is now 3-0 in the conference and controls their own destiny to win the conference. What a story, and what a different look at the conference we have now than we did even 3 weeks ago.
Black & Gold Madness
Welcome Chris Paul back to Wake Forest!
Great win for the Deacs over the Seminoles! Tonight will be another great event for Wake. I'll be tweeting live updates throughout the course of action. You can follow me @Robert_Reinhard . You can also follow Riley @BSD_RaJohnston . He will be tweeting as well and he is a great follow. Should be a great end to a great day to be a Deac!
Where do we go from here? Let's pull out our crystal ball.
Jim Grobe has a lot to be optimistic about this season
With 4 games down, we thought it would be a good idea to look forward at the remainder of the football schedule. I know the coaches and team will tell you to take it one game at a time, but here at Blogger So Dear we don't have to listen to that philosophy. After the jump we'll offer predictions on each game and how we think the season will shape out from here.
Week 5 Power Rankings
There was a lot of shifting around at the top of the ACC this week. The Clemson Tigers survived their version of murderer's row and improved to 5-0. Virginia Tech also showed that they are not invincible, and still have a lot to prove. Please feel free to comment and give your opinions. Shortly we'll do our best to pick our mid-season All-ACC awards and teams.
Deacs move to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC
The game was a little more nerve wracking than initially expected, but nevertheless the Deacs were able to come up with a stop and remain undefeated in conference play.
Here's a quick rundown of yesterday's game after the jump...

Arnaud Moto Commits to Wake Forest
Arnaud Moto
Arnaud Moto, the small forward from Alexandria Virginia, has committed to Wake Forest, according to sources. Quick player breakdown following the jump. He is a 4 star recruit, and the 75th best recruit in the country according to ESPN.
Week 4 Power Rankings
The ACC picture is starting to become a little more clear. Clemson and Georgia Tech continued to prove that they belong among the ACC elite. Meanwhile, Maryland and N.C. State proved that are not very good, and that they will both likely not be going bowling this holiday season. There is now a clear separation between the top 6 and bottom 6, and I look for it to remain that way for the rest of the season. As always comments are always welcome. We should have an interactive game thread going this week because it is an away game. Feel free to stop by!
Week 4 ACC Pick 'Em
We're back for our second addition of Pick 'Em where we try and outsmart the oddsmakers. We finished the picks one day earlier this week so that we could get them i before the N.C. State game tonight.
Disclaimer: Please do not gamble on sports, and if you do, please do not use our picks. We're the reason Vegas is still able to build new hotels.
