COWBOYS RIDE FOR FREE SPRING CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS

2

It's that time of year, the time when football and hoops have gone into hibernation and we lose a lot of motivation for posts. We are looking for folks interested in covering some of the other sports at OSU.

BIG 12 BASEBALL: OSU SURGES INTO 1ST

1

It may be just a few percentage points, but a lead is a lead.

Myles Turner to announce April 30th

+

Still think this is a HUGE longshot for OSU, but hey, the Cowboys are still in the conversation.

OSU Equestrian trying to move closer to a national title

+

Cowgirls are #2 in the country and the #2 seed in the tourney. SMU defeated New Mexico St in the opening round (just like March Madness).

Tiffany Bias headed to the WNBA.

+

We knew it was happening, just a matter of where.

OSU SPRING FB REVIEW WITH MARK ROGERS TV

Some facts (names and positions) and some conjecture (QB injury update?) highlight this visit with friend of the blog Mark Rogers.

NO TORN ACL FOR DAXX GARMAN?

+
*****UPDATE******
Brendon Morris tweeted that he ran into Daxx Garman, who said no tear, no structural damage, just a really bad tweak.
******UPDATE******
HC Mike Gundy says Garman "turned his knee." Will know more on Monday.
******UPDATE*******
NewsOK now reporting that Garman was injured in practice Friday. Gundy will address after Orange Blitz.
**************************
Thanks to Derek Hatridge digging up this horrible news. This has NOT been confirmed by the team. Let's hope this is just Twitter rumor and he really only has a paper cut or something.

Oklahoma State Baseball Weekend Action

+

Cowboys are 20-9, 3-3 in Big 12 play.

OSU SPRING FB ASSESSMENT AND SCHEDULE PREVIEW

5

We can't wait to see the offense, we are legitimately afraid to watch the defense, and Florida State looms. What does 2014 hold in store for the Cowboys?

Visual confirmation that Tyreek Hill is fast in a football uniform

2

Welp, if you didn't get to see this BEFORE it was predictably taken down, you really missed a gem. Hill took a handoff near the 20 yd line, cut back against the flow, then cut upfield. It took 9.2 seconds from the time he touched the ball to cross the goal line 80 yards later, and nobody got near him. Have fun thinking about that until football season.

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: Quarterback

+

It's going to be either a "gamer," a "ghost," or a true freshman. We don't know. We won't know. We'll find out about the same time Florida State does.

A depleted defense gets a little thinner

+

Glenn Spencer has his work cut out for him. This could be a REALLY rough season for the defense. Tshimanga is listed on the depth chart at DE, which is already 2 deep on both sides. However, he could have been moved to LB or provided depth in the case of injury. It also takes away a special teams body. Starting or not, that side of the ball needs all the bodies it can get its hands on.

Le'Bryan Nash to return for his senior season?

+

This would be good news for OSU's embattled, and some would say "lame duck," coach. Gaskins' departure simply removes a body from an already thin front line, but Ford doesn't really employ any offense that utilizes big men, so really no loss. Ford also said this could be his deepest and best shooting team ever at OSU. I don't think that would be hard to accomplish.

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: Linebacker

+

Cornerback and safety were decimated by graduation, but that doesn't begin to compare with what has to be replaced at linebacker.

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: Running Back

+

Jeremy Smith's inability to step into the void left by Joseph Randle opened the door for Desmond Roland. A true freshman, however, may have made the most of Smith's struggles. Can Rennie Childs expand on the promise he showed in 2013?

It will be here before we know it...

+

Of course with all the inexperience on defense...

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: CB and Safety

+

While most think linebackers were the most decimated by graduation, the loss of key personnel is pretty significant for the defensive backfield.

OSU Equestrian wins Big 12 Championship!

+

Defeated Baylor in the finals for their third consecutive title.

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: WR & TE

+

Wide Receiver at OSU has turned into what running back used to be. While losing some significant talent and experience, the Cowboys simply reload. Will this group live up to expectations?

OSU Equestrian Going for the 3-peat.

+

This is quietly one of the best programs at Oklahoma State, and they are going for their third consecutive Big 12 title.

OPEN GAMETHREAD FOR SWEET 16...Friday Edition

Dayton is still wearing the slipper, but the Big 12 is down to one shoe. Can Iowa State find the right fit against Napier and UConn?

Get excited about the Oklahoma State QB competition!

+

Not part of our series, but couldn't resist. If Gundy isn't going to say much, bring in Weeden. Daxx lovers will go ballistic. Gundy had similar comments here.

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: Defensive Line

+

OSU was solid in the trenches and inexperienced on the edges in 2013. That could flip in 2014.

Will Lunt come back to haunt Gundy?

+

There's no way this has a good ending....

OSU wrestling coach John Smith named best in the Big 12

+

No other way to describe this other than "dynasty."

Bias looking to play Saturday despite ankle injury.

+

I said she was done, maybe for the season, when I saw it. She came back that game! Kid is tough as nails, but will definitely not be 100% against an undefeated Notre Dame squad playing at home.

GAMETHREAD & TV SCHEDULE FOR SWEET 16...Thursday

2

Cinderellas and the Big 12 are on life support, but they're still in the game. One of them is guaranteed to advance.

OSU SPRING FB POSITION REVIEW: Offensive Line

+

The mainstay of OSU's offensive prowess over the years undergoes a huge change with the departure of Joe Wickline to Texas. Can Bob Connelly carry the torch?

Former Oklahoma State LB Alex Elkins returning to Rugby roots

+

Elkins had experience with rugby prior to taking up football in junior college.
