Over the Monster Anderson to Sox, Kotsay to ChiSox

So I just heard the news that Mark Kotsay was traded to the Chicago White Sox for OF Brian Anderson. Before reading any further, I'd like you to know that Anderson was struggling so badly in Chicago that he was already in the minors. Here's some stats to compare:

Mark Kotsay: .257 AVG, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 2 SB, .291 OBP, .324 SLG

Brian Anderson: .238 AVG, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 25 R, 3 SB, .322 OBP, .319 SLG

As you can see, while Anderson may have more HR's, he's also done so with double the ABs. So my question is this: Why make the trade? True that we don't have much depth in the OF, but it's already speculated that Anderson will start in minors. So why make this trade? The only way I see is to make some money space, but still. Another thing is age, and maybe the Red Sox want to mold Anderson because they see potential in him. We'll see I guess.
