Rufus on Fire Should Captain Jack Force a Technical?

During the Charlotte Bobcats' victory over the New York Knickerbockers at the Cable Box this past Saturday, Bobcats captain and leading scorer Stephen Jackson drew his 15th technical foul of the season, one short of receiving a league mandated one game suspension. This comes during a critical moment of the season as the Bobcats are battling the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks for the 8th and final spot in the Playoffs. Earlier today, a thought crossed my mind: Should Stephen Jackson force a technical call on himself?

Here's a video that I thought was amusing. Just playful banter between UNC folks. I think Ben will enjoy it too, as you're a fan of sports shoes and a Tar Heel as well.

Shot outside TWC Arena, MJ tells Harrison Barnes to stop wearing Kobe shoes. He later goes and says that if the Heels make the Final Four, he'll give them some special Jordans, along with "anything you want." (UNC athletic gear is supplied by the Jordan Brand)

What made me laugh in this video, apart from MJ's hideous fashion choice in jeans (what else is new), is what His Airness is doing. Does he drive an ATV to TWC Arena? Anyone know? lol

As expected, it didn't take long for rumors of Larry Brown's next job to begin circulating. As the only coach to win both an NCAA and NBA title, word on the street is that Larry Brown is thinking of returning to coach college basketball. Of course, before than, some linked him to the new coaching spot the Pacers recently had. Some have even suggested that, with a potentially shorten season during 2011-2012, that a team may pick him up just for giggles.

Which college teams at this point are not known, although there seems to be false rumors linking Brown with Arkansas. Brown is a talented coach, and while many here became very disgruntled with him, we shouldn't forget he's still a good coach, and definitely contributed to Bobcats history.

What gets me about the article is how it states that Brown is now willing to move his family where his next coaching job is. Why couldn't he have just moved them to Charlotte this past year, lol?

So uh, I'm not even really sure what to think about this. Apparently we were going to resign Collins, and arranged two flights for him to fly from his home back to Charlotte, but he missed them both.

So now instead we've signed Garrett Temple to a 10-Day contract.

This seems to be in the works, but it looks like Silas is going to remain our coach for the next season (if such a season takes place, lol)

Many of us, including myself, wanted this to happen, and it appears that is. Thoughts? Excitement? Concerns? Nonchalance?

Well folks, our bench just got a bit more interesting. With Diop out, we've got Kwame and Nazr as our centers. Our committee at center, never that great to begin with, has now dwindled further. Say what you will about Diop, but I do feel bad this has happened to him after his good play under Silas.

Interesting trade implications, hm?

Rufus on Fire Keep Wallace a Bobcat

I feel like this may sound like a broken record, but I decided to go ahead and post these thoughts. There's no doubt a lot of chaos going on in the Bobcats universe, and we certainly have much to think about. The coaching change is keeping us preoccupied, and of course there's  never ending rosterbation, which has recently intensified due to the coaching change. While there's many things floating around in our minds, one of particular interest has been at the forefront for me: Gerald Wallace.

"Our second team kicks our first team in practice," Brown said. "What does that tell you?"

Hm. What does that tell us Coach Brown?

Well, well, well. Looks like ol' Dampier has finally found himself in Miami, thanks to the injury of Haslem. To make room for Dampier, the Heat have waived veteran Jerry Stackhouse. I wonder if anyone will pick him up, or if this is it for him.

Seems like the folks at 2K Sports are attempting to get our very own Michael Jordan as its cover athlete for NBA 2K11, a certainly interesting, and unexpected, decision.

What's more, it appears that they're trying to actually incorporate him into the game as well. If this happens, MJ will become the first team executive to appear on the cover of a sports video game.

UPDATE: 02 JUNE 2010:

2K Sports confirms that MJ will be the cover athlete, although it remains to be a surprise how exactly he will appear on the cover.

Well, things just keep getting interesting, now don't they? Days after the Bucks lose Bogut, the Raptors now lose key player Bosh. Having yet to face Boston, Chicago and Atlanta, things aren't looking too good for them...

Rufus on Fire Was at the theater yesterday...

My friends and I sat down and settled in with some snacks to watch "Hot Tub Time Machine" (pretty enjoyable.  Silly and stupid, but in a good way) and we waited for the film to start as the trailers played.  What was one of the trailers that played, you ask?   A movie where the Nets are the star.

Rufus on Fire Ajinca needs Surgery

(DA -- LINK HERE: Ajinca needs thumb surgery)

Bad  news for our fellow Bobcat in the D-League,  as Bonnell is reporting that Ajinca is going to require surgery on his thumb.  This is a shame because he has been playing very well as of late, and this might dampen his progress.  For those wanting to trade him, it might affect trade talks as well.

I had the feeling that we were going to recall Ajinca near the end of the season and use him some as we make our final play off push.  Chandler's status  (and what he might be able to contribute) is another enigma as well.

It's unclear how long Ajinca will be out.
