Bucs Dugout OT: Attractions, events, and things to do in the Pittsburgh area

Sorry for the off-topic post, ladies and gents, but I'm asking for help from Pittsburghers and those who live in the general area (mods, delete this if it's not appropriate). My family and I are attempting to figure out what we're going to do on our family vacation during the last week of June and first of July; both my parents and I are going to be driving "halfway" between their home in Connecticut and mine in Michigan.

I suggested we meet up in Pittsburgh because, well, I've been there once, but I love the city; I feel like it's home, and I want to live there later in life. Anyway, I wanted to get the family to go to a Pirate game or two at the very least before we move on to somewhere else. What other "hot spots" are in the area (or even in the state) that you would suggest doing? I mentioned Gettysburg, as in the not-so-distant future I'll be an English/History teacher. Even if the suggestions are away from the city, the more options we have the better the chance that we'll actually get to visit the Burgh.

Thanks guys! Sorry if this in inappropriate...I figured you guys would be some of the best to ask! Oh, and always...Go Bucs!

Bucs Dugout Is there an "official" Jolly Roger?

I've been a Pittsburgh sports fan all my life and really started to follow the Pirates closely (due to living in Michigan and getting MLB.tv) in 2010. I'm going to all three of the games in Detroit this year against the Bucs and was wondering if there is an "official" Jolly Roger. Perhaps not one like the "official" Terrible Towel but one that the fanbase considers unofficially official. I'd like to grab that and take it with me to the D and raise that sucker two or three times.

As a sidenote, is there anyone on this board who's going to any one of those games? I'm attempting to get a group of people but all my friends tend to be Tiger fans (again, growing up and living in Michigan) and the more the merrier.

Behind the Steel Curtain December 23, 1972

Today in 1972 in Pittsburgh, PA the Steelers took on the Raiders in an AFC Divisional Round Playoff game.  The Steelers lead 6-0 before a Raiders TD pass put them up 7-6.  In the waning seconds, on 4th and 10, Terry Bradshaw fired to John "Frenchy" Fuqua.  Jack Tatum arrived at the same time the ball did and it was deflected and began its' descent to the turf...before it was snagged inches from the ground by Franco Harris, who ran the ball into the endzone for a TD.

Obviously most/all of you don't need a refresher on what the Immaculate Reception is, just thought it was cool it was 38 years ago today.  This is what I get for being a English/History major.  Anyway, Happy Immaculate Reception Day, and Merry Christmas to Steeler Nation...GO STEELERS tonight!

Behind the Steel Curtain Question about NFL Game Rewind/2008 AFCCG

For the NFL game rewind, can you view previous season's games, or just the current one?

I really want to watch the 2008 AFC Championship Game versus the Ravens and compare it to tonights, both were great football games in my opinion and I would like to study both further. Thusly, does anyone have a copy of or know where I can get a copy of the 2008 AFC Championship Game? I've searched far and wide, high and low and cannot seem to find a copy...ugh!

Thanks guys/gals!

Behind the Steel Curtain Steelers/Bengals Defensive Breakdown

Apologies for the late post, but illness (both physical and from the loss) have kept me a little behind in real life up until now.  Anyway, the Defense was on fire for parts of the game and colder than Plaxico Burress's jail cell for others (too soon on the Burress joke? As a Michigan fan, and it being Michigan State week, I had to take the shot).

Regardless, it can be seen Dick LeBeau is tinkering away at the rush schemes in an attempt at getting the pass rush working to perfection and piling up sacks quicker than Charles Rogers is DUIs (ok, that was uncalled for.  Maybe).  On to the review!

Behind the Steel Curtain The 2-4-5 and 1-5-5 revealed

Bumped this excellent article from Romain El 82 to the front page for the excellent observations and explanations on some of the Steelers new defensive formations.  His explanation is great for the casual football fan who may not know the difference between a 4-3 front and a 3-4 front, but it also goes in depth enough to keep us junkies entertained.  (DYM)

As you may have noticed from watching the Steelers first two games this season, they line up in a goofy-looking formation on occasion on obvious passing situations, as well as a semi-goofing looking one once in a while.  What are they? Why do they look so unorganized? And why do they work so well? If you're lost or just want to learn more, there's explanations and pictures after the jump.

Behind the Steel Curtain Steelers/Bears Defensive Breakdown

Well, what can you say...not the outcome Steeler fans wanted or expected, but I woke up this morning in northern Michigan to a constant rain - hopefully it washes away the bad taste from this loss and cleans the wounds; I know I'm less irate this morning than I was last night.

Version 2.0 of the defensive breakdown is here, hopefully much improved from last weeks version (a few more minor tweaks forthcoming).  Unfortunately because of the Bengals inability to decide if they wanted to beat the Packers or not I missed the first defensive series of the game and only got to see four or five plays of the first offensive series.  What can you do.  On to the review!

Behind the Steel Curtain Steelers/Titans Defensive Breakdown

Welcome to another glorious season of Steeler Football BSTC! Veterans will (hopefully) remember me, while this is the first time I've seen many of the newcomers.  Work and school will do that for you. While the Steelers defense was on the field the first half I took a ton of notes (I had an obligation which prevented me from note-taking during the second half), and will put those notes into a chart, and hopefully try to make sense of them to demostrate the dominance of the defense (try saying that 3 times fast!).

As this is the first time I've done this, there will be some bumps in the road to go over and some kinks to work out; I realize writing this I could use more information, such as total TOP for an opposing offense's drive, how many people rushed the QB, what coverage (man or zone), and hopefully I can get who's rushing/dropping into coverage (it's a lot of info to get down while watching the game live!).  But like I said, the first two weeks or so I'll consider a pre-season of sorts.  Any comments/suggestions/criticisms will be most welcome! Regardless, glad to see you all here and ready for another great season, and let's get into it, shall we?

Behind the Steel Curtain Looking over Pittsburgh from Marquette, MI.

Bumped from the FanPosts. I'll just let the excellent story telling on full display explain why. Kudos to RomainEl82 for this. An impressive addition to an already diverse collection of offerings from him. If only he spent as much thought and passion writing his papers in college as he did finding unique ways to share his stories and love for the game here on BTSC.  Hehe. Just playing! Or rather, talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Loved every word. Thanks for sharing.. -Blitz-

*******************************

The Pittsburgh Steelers are my team. Unlike most Steeler fans, my family, for my father is Steeler fan also, is not from Western Pennsylvania. We are not “transplants” like some Steeler fans my age or older.

My mothers' side of the family is concentrated in Oklahoma, and my fathers' side of the family was concentrated in Michigan, specifically Metro-Detroit.

I get asked all the time, up here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, "why are you a Steeler fan?". This comes from a few Lions fans, but mostly Packer and Bear fans. I usually give an answer like "because my dad was one" or "because I value everything their organization represents" or "because of their history".

Weeks before the Super Bowl, a bunch of my friends suggested we have a party for the Super Bowl. Naturally, as the Steelers got closer and closer, more and more people who knew me paid attention to their pursuit of the Lombardi.

Super Bowl night came after what seemed like a million-year wait. I showed up early to my friends apartment to help him cook up some grub for the game. I was wearing my white Polamalu jersey for the first time since I had gotten in (2005) and had my Terrible Towel tucked into my back pocket.

People began showing up, and one of the acquaintances finally asked the question I knew would be asked: "So you're a Steelers fan, eh? How long you been a fan? And why?"

Behind the Steel Curtain AFFCG Trophy Broken!

PITTSBURGH (AP)— Mere hours after winning the 2009 AFC Championship game and securing a berth in their record-setting seventh Super Bowl, the Steelers Lamar Hunt Trophy was broken.

When pressed for comment, Mike Tomlin chuckled. "After the game we just played, I think it's a very fitting symbol for not only our football team but the season as well. We've had a lot of injuries throughout the season, you know, but guys stepped up. It's a perfect metaphor for our season that will stand for years to come. It's just a shame Mr. Rooney will have to display a broken trophy."

Details about the damage of the trophy, as it passed from player to player in the Steeler locker-room post game were foggy, but one Steeler knew what occurred.

"I passed it off to Limas, and I don't know if he didn't have a firm grip on it, took his eyes off it or what, but all of a sudden I heard a clang and saw [the trophy] bounce off the floor," said Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Information regarding the repair of the trophy was not immediately available.

Behind the Steel Curtain Rumors, Rumors, Rumors

I'm hearing now (via NFLN) that apparently Jason Garrett is on a plane to St. Louis...as the next Rams head coach? What? Apparently the Vikings DC (forgot his name, but that position appears to be a good one to snipe new HCs from) was the 'runaway favorite' for the job, until, you know, this happened.

Also hearing that Jon Gruden and Tampa's GM were fired today, opening the door for...Bill Cowher? to possibly take both positions.  It's a job BC has been looking for; he gets full power, he's in the NFC, nice location, and has a relatively talented team.

I heard one other name thrown out there: a possible return to Tampa for Mr. Tony Dungy? Dungy retired because he wanted to spend more time with his family, ala Bill Cowher, but Dungy made his home in the greater Tampa area (and he was obviously a great coach for the Bucs, building the team Gruden won the SB with).  Coming back to the same franchise he left less than a decade before would be unorthidox, to say the least.

[Edit: Mike Shanahan also wears both the HC/GM hat, and is currently available (I had forgotten about him).  Look for him to be a possibility as well.]

Behind the Steel Curtain When I thought life couldn't get any better...

One of my friends directed me to this as well (where they find this stuff, I don't know).

But I didn't even know they made new episodes of "Jeopardy"...guess they do.

Enjoy (I don't know how to embed the videos, but if Blitz or someone wants to then go for it), I got a real kick out of it...the man got what he deserves (kinda).

Behind the Steel Curtain L-O-Friggin'-L

A few buddies of mine from back home were talking about football late last night, and the convo turned to the Steelers/Ravens game (I'm on the only one with a team IN the p layoffs, nevermind one left in the playoffs), and someone made a comment about Joe Flacco's eyebrows.

The inevitable "Chuck Norris' beard" comments/jokes were made, we talked some more, and finally went to bed.  I awoke this morning to this picture in my email from one of those friends.

I have to say, I got a good 5 minutes of solid laughter in before I could finally breath again.

Enjoy, Steeler fans.

Behind the Steel Curtain I'd like to throw a big "Happy Birthday" out

to our fearless leader, Blitz.  Today is his birthday, perhaps not a "big" one but it's his day nonetheless.

Blitz runs not only by far the best Steelers fansite but the best fansite of any kind I've ever come across, period, and his dedication to a quality product (and production of said quality product) really show.  Everytime I log in (which is multiple times daily, if not hourly) there's always a new, exciting, meaningful, intelligent article or post by Blitz or some other awesome poster.

Just like the Steelers organization itself, I believe good people tend to gravitate towards a great, honest, hardworking person, and for BTSC Blitz is that person.

Happy B-Day bro, and hope it's a great one, and keep up the outstanding work.

Behind the Steel Curtain Ok BTSC, I need some help

To make a long story short, after negotiating with one of my professors, I finally got him to let me do an assignment on a Steelers game instead of a TV show (hey, they're close, right?).

Needless to say, we could pick any TV show from whenever we wanted, so I can do any Steeler game I want.

Ideally, I would like to do the MNF game against the Ravens from last year, but I do not have it on DVD and cannot find it.  If anyone has a copy of that game, or knows where I can find one, please let me know!  I have about two weeks to do the paper, so I have plenty of time to either wait for a copy of the game or choose another (SBXL or the Division game vs. the Colts also are options at this point).

I all know we turned off that blowout of a game enjoyed every freaking second of that massacre, so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Thanks guys!

Behind the Steel Curtain Report: Steelers to Stay with Rooneys

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney’s four brothers have agreed to sell a controlling stake of the team to him and his son, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Patrick and Art Rooney Jr. confirmed the deal in a story posted on the paper’s Web site Friday night. They and their other two brothers—Timothy and John—could get a total of $750 million after debt is taken out, according to the report.

Art Rooney Jr. said the brothers hope to get the deal wrapped up before a board meeting in December. Both sides want to get a deal done by then because they are worried about possible higher taxes once the Obama administration is in office.

“It’s a good deal. I’m happy for Dan. I’m happy for the rest of the family. I think young Art, Dan’s son, will do a fine job,” Patrick Rooney told the paper. “I think we’re doing the right thing.”

Art Rooney II, Dan’s son, is the team president.

Each brother owns 16 percent of the team, adding up to 80 percent, with another Pittsburgh family, the McGinleys, owning 20 percent. Those shares are not being sold. The Rooneys’ father, Hall of Famer Art Rooney Sr., bought the franchise in 1933 for $2,500.

All this per http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AoyR.AjIhcuUilRex21ikdFDubYF?slug=ap-steelers-ownership&prov=ap&type=lgns

Excellent!

Behind the Steel Curtain BTSC, I just about died

Sorry if this is too personal for the site (and by that I mean not Steelers-related enough), but I need to tell someone...I'm still in total shock.

As previously mentioned in the thread where Blitz compares this years Steeler team to a woman with a flaw, there's a girl I've had my eye on for a while but have been reluctant to ask her out on a date (I thought/think I was/might be moving).  Blitz and 5020 both agreed that I should, and just let the chips fall where they do, so today I called her up and asked to meet her by the Starbucks on campus. (Fun fact: did you know, Howard Schultz, the founder/CEO of Starbucks, went to NMU? :-P)

We meet and begin talking, and eventually I somehow spew that I would be interested in taking her out on a date, would she like to come?  She laughs and says yes, we discuss the details, and then I tell her this:

"There's one other thing you should know-every Sunday at 1 or 4:15, occasional Mondays, and random Thursdays I'm glued to a TV.  I'm a pretty big Steeler fan, and I get sucked into all their games.  I felt I should tell you this now, but that doesn't mean I don't want to do anything on Sundays-it's just that I've been a Steeler fan since I was ten years old.  I literally bleed Black and Gold."

She looks at me for a second, then responds with this:

"There's one thing you should know too-every Sunday at 1, or the once-every-three-years Monday I'm glued to a TV.  I'm a pretty big football fan, and I get sucked into the games.  I decided I should tell you this, too.  I know how you feel-I've been a Browns fan all my life.  I bleed Orange 'n Brown."

My jaw hit the floor.  At first I thought she was kidding, and then she started talking about how the O-Line is really improved since they got Joe Thomas ("he was a first round pick, that's how she knows" was my thought), but she was upset about the whole injury/release of LeCharles Bentley, and how could the Browns get so many staph infections?

Also, she says even though he tends to take plays off, Shaun Rogers was the best thing to happen to the Cleveland D since they switched to the 3-4, and she's hoping Quinn keeps playing well because she has Edwards on her fantasy team.

Needless to say, I don't remember much of the next few minutes because I passed out.

I found the perfect freaking woman...and she's a Brownies fan.

Behind the Steel Curtain Any news on Ben?

Obviously this is going to be a big game, but I'm guessing most of us (if not all) would like to see Ben take it easy until he's 100% healthy again.  Big Byron looked good last game and we all know Ben's history of coming back too soon.  Plus, Big Byron has a pretty good knowledge/understanding of the Colts defense, as he was the Jags QB for a number of years.

Also, in fantasy football all 3 of my QBs are on byes, so I had to pick up 2...Leftwich being one of them, to start...oh, did I mention my opponent has Ben? ;)

It'll be interesting...needless to say, I need to know if Ben or Byron is playing so I can swap out Leftwich if need be.

Behind the Steel Curtain I read something interesting about longsnappers/punters

"Actually they tell punters to move up for new long snappers because they usually undersnap it. Harrison was never told this, so he snapped where a snapper should, but that was too far back. Add to the fact Mitch Berger was hurt so he couldn't jump for the ball, and it's a safety. I'm not excusing Harrison, but long snapping is a hard job and it's not entirely his fault."

I read this on another forum and though I'd throw it out there and see what all you guys thought, as we're a pretty well-educated group.  And also, since in the last few hours I've heard every conspiracy theory under the sun (although this is about football, not politics), I thought I'd throw this one out there for us to contemplate:

So many Steelers are getting 'injured' so that we can sign more people because Dan Rooney is feeling generous and wants to give out a lot of Super Bowl rings.

>_>

Behind the Steel Curtain Online Stream of the Game?

I'm looking for an online stream of the game, since (1) I don't have cable and (2) I can't go anywhere to watch it because I'm pretty sick.  I know there are some out there for the Sunday games but I can't seem to find any for tonights' game.

Thanks a lot guys!

Also, when did MNF get switched to ESPN?  I know ABC used to have MNF and ESPN had SNF, but they switched it all around a few years back and now NBC has SNF (I think).

Behind the Steel Curtain ANOTHER Steeler fined...

Ryan Clark, fined 5K for having a "21" in his eye paint to honor Sean Taylor.  Yeah, I'm serious:

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/10/30/nfl-fines-ryan-clark-5k-for-honoring-sean-taylor-violating-uni/

Honestly, this is getting ridiculous.  First off, all the fines against the Steelers this year, and secondly, all the B.S. fines in general.  It's getting to the point where they'll start fining people for being ugly, or for getting sod stuck between their facemask and helmet when they get planted face-first into the ground.

Behind the Steel Curtain Interesting info about sacks

Per Yahoo Sports:

"Roethlisberger has been sacked 23 times and is on pace to go down 53 times, which would tie Cliff Stoudt’s 1983 club record. In the last 2 1/2 seasons, Roethlisberger has been sacked a remarkable 116 times; only Jon Kitna (129) has gone done more times, according to STATS, Inc.

For comparison’s sake, Marc Bulger (108) is the only other QB to be sacked more than 100 times since 2006. Donovan McNabb, the No. 4 most-sacked quarterback since then, has gone down 77 times—almost 40 fewer than Roethlisberger.

Kitna and Bulger, of course, play for losing teams that often fall behind early and must throw to get back into games. Roethlisberger plays on a strong team that runs the ball as much as it throws.

Still, the poundings go on and on for Roethlisberger, who has been sacked three or more times in four games this season, including a season’s high eight against the Eagles. The Giants sacked him five times and put him to the turf twice as many times as that on plays he wasn’t sacked."

Behind the Steel Curtain I have an idea...

Alright, so Blitz has called me (multiple times) the "Madden guy", and seeing as I just bought another 360 and Madden 09, here's my chance to prove it once again.

I have a proposal for the great readers of this site.  Starting Mondays, I will get on here and take suggestions, tips, tricks, etc for the upcoming Steelers game, which I will play on Madden, using the groups collective strategies to see if (a) we're smart and (b) maybe predict who will win the game.  I guess I'll play it Friday or Saturday, some time in there.  All-Madden difficulty (of course!) and I'll play 10 minute quarters.

I just thought this would be a fun way to play Armchair QB.  So... I guess I'll start taking suggestions/strategies for the Skins game.

(Also, I will be using the 'real' rosters-like if I was doing a game with the Giants, I wouldn't use Marvel/Aaron Smith, San-dope-io, McFadden, etc.)

Behind the Steel Curtain I apologize

in advance for anything I may say over the next two days that might seem over the line, out of line, crazy, or just utterly stupid.

I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed at 9:15am today (the 24th), so I'm going to be drugged up (hopefully a lot-they gave me Vicodin).  I'm kind of nervous too; I've only been under the knife once before, and I was 2 (I got one of my tearducts shut-my eye was watering like crazy and they had to close it up a little).

Hopefully all goes well.  Thanks a lot guys, and sorry Blitz (if anything goes horribly, horribly wrong).  But hey, maybe I'll solve the Steelers O-Line problems? ;)

Behind the Steel Curtain Kind of creepy, I just saw this...

Long story short, I was looking for a cool snow-game Steelers picture to put as a wallpaper, came on a synopsis of our '05 season, and realized this:

2005-We beat 2 inferior opponents in the first 2 weeks, had a devastating defeat week 3, played MNF week 4, then played the Jags week 5.

2008-Beat 2 inferior opponents weeks 1 & 2, devastating loss week 3, MNF week 4, and play the Jags week 5.

To go even further with this, our 6th game in 05 was @ Cincy, while our 6th game this year is @ Cincy...although we have a bye this year after the Jags game while I think the bye was later in the year in 05.  Nonetheless...

O_O

Uh, wow.

Behind the Steel Curtain My Gaze Into the Crystal Ball (Sort of Long)

After dwelling on anything and everything I know about Steeler football, and more specifically the offensive line, and watching "V for Vendetta" (which, if you haven't seen, is an AMAZING movie and I recommend you rent it/download it/break into your neighbors house and steal it), here is (for what it's worth) my take on the future of our offensive line, using only my mind, google, and a heck of a lot of assumptions.

Ok, so we win the division this year, maybe win a playoff game or two, but then get beat by ~insert hot AFC team name here~ in the divisional round.  Sounds reasonable, correct?

So, it's the offseason now.  Assuming we stick with the same formula it seems like we've always used (letting players walk), Marvel Smith is gone.  This leaves a hole at LT.  Something tells me we re-sign Starks; he's one of those players I can't understand why he's on the bench (or why he lost his job in the first place).  I guess you can say I'm a Starks fan.

Alright, now for the rest of the team.  Our upcoming Free Agents this year (of any significance) are as follows (this is after Marvel has been let go):

Carey Davis, Willie Colon, Bryant McFadden, and Anthony Smith.

I believe (but am not 100%) all of these players are going to be RFA this year, meaning (1) we get first crack at re-signing these players and (2) we can counter any offer made to these players, as well as receive compensation for them should we lose them.

All of these players should be re-signed; now take a look at our roster.  Really, look at it.  What are the 2 areas we REALLY need help?  Both lines, and some quality players are needed on the OL badly.  Now, I know we said that last year, and we took a RB and WR in the first 2 rounds.  But, unless we pull a Bungles in the draft, we're going to address these needs.

So, there are going to be a number of quality OL available in the first round this year.  At OT, there's Michael Oher (Ole Miss), Eugene Monroe (Virginia), Phil Loadholt (Oklahoma), and Jason Smith (Baylor) appearing to be sure-fire 1st rounders, while there's Duke Robinson at G (also from Oklahoma) [I'm not so up on the Guards at this point] and Alex Mack (Cal) at Center.  Mack is a "can't-miss" prospect at Center, where 1st-round picks are rare.  Monroe (OT, UVA) is the guy who made Branden Albert play OG the past few years instead of LT, and I'm sure we all know about Albert and how he was supposed to fall for us, etc.  I'm going to say with our typical mid-to-late 20's pick in the draft we take Mack, the Center.

Shifting gears, every once in a while the Steelers make a splash in Free Agency; James Farrior and Duce Staley in recent years come to mind.  This year looks to have a few big-name OL hitting the market in Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan from the Eagles, John Welbourne from the Cheifs, Marc Colombo from the Dallas Cowboys, Mark Tauscher from the Packers, and of course ex-Steeler Marvel Smith.  Some of these guys won't hit the open market, due to re-signing, franchise-tagging, etc, but the names will be there.

There's one more player, who is 99% guaranteed to be there (he was Franchise Tagged this past season): Carolina Panther RT Jordon Gross.  Like other Steeler FA signees, Gross was a 1st round pick who has flown under the radar of the team he was previously on.  I say we make a rare splash and pick him up.

Now, onto the 2009 Offensive Line (so THIS is what it's like to be a Browns fan! Week 3 and I'm looking at next year already). Assuming we re-sign Starks, let Marvel walk, sign Gross (who's only like 26 or 27 years old, I believe), and draft Mack, our 2009 line will look like this:

(LT) Starks (LG) Kemo (C) Hartwig/Mack (RG) Colon (RT) Gross

No bona-fide Hartings or Gandys or Fanecas on the line, but you're going to tell me this line is worse than some of the other lines around the league, or some of our previous lines (2004 comes to mind).  This has (assuming no cuts are made) Stapleton, Essex and Simmons as back-ups, plus whoever lost the Center battle.

Obviously not everyone will agree with me, and this isn't what "needs" to happen...I guess my point is (1) we're not that far away from a solid line again and (2) there's more than one way to achieve that.

Thoughts/comments?

Behind the Steel Curtain Steel Nation, I need your help

Ok, so I'm not sure how this all works, but I'm gonna give this a shot anyway.

Long story short, my college (Northern Michigan University, located in Marquette, MI) is playing a rivalry game tonight against their archrival, Michigan Tech.  The game is here at the Superior Dome in Marquette.  Normally our games are Saturdays, but for tonights game, for the first time ever, it's ON TV! Nationally, I believe.

Naturally, I'm going to be at the game-my question to every one of you is this: I wish to have a copy of the game, as NMU grads Howard Schultz (dude who owns Starbucks), Tom Izzo (MSU B-Ball coach), Lloyd Carr (former University of Michigan football coach) and Steve Marriuci are going to be there/announcing.  Also, what can I say? National TV? Our little D-2 school!

The game is going to be on CBS in Michigan and/or Fox Sports for the rest of the nation.  I'm wondering if someone with Tivo/DVR can record the game (if they can find it/carry it) and burn it to a DVD and send it to me.  I'll gladly pay S&H and whatever materials you might need to have covered.  The game is on at 8pm EASTERN time.

This is a big deal for me, and hey, maybe you'll get to see a next-gen Steeler! (Our WRs are really, really good.)  Hopefully, if it's on where you're at, you tune in and watch, get to see a great game, and of course, and NMU victory!

Thanks a lot guys!

Behind the Steel Curtain Paging Blitz:

Check your email buddy...kickoff is only a few hours away!

I just finished work and am sitting here (Perkins) using the wireless because the Charter man neglected to show up on Friday like he was supposed to (hence, no 'net at the apartment).  Yes, I am taking this to the max.

New computer too....laptop with Vista, which is...ehh...trying to get to 75 words lol. Almost there, only a few more words and then I'll be able to post this and watch some great football!

Behind the Steel Curtain Quick Question about uniforms

Does anyone know if the Steelers are going to use the throwback uniforms they wore last year twice at all this year? And if so, how often? Once I would think, twice at the most.

Those uniforms were sweet, and I REALLY want to get a Woodley and/or customized one of those.  The helmets were pretty sweet, too.  I really like how we have other uni's now...and actually use them.  My friends are Bucs, Bills, and Lions fans, so they have them (and frequently bust them out) whenever we're arguing/playing Madden.

Thanks a lot guys!

Behind the Steel Curtain I'm back everybody

After a long summer of the 2 W's (work and women) I am back for the fall, and that means Steeler Football!  I've been on the site off and on, but it's great to be back.  Also it's amazing to see Blitz has not only kept the site at its elite level of informed, well thought out posts, but has also raised the ball.  It's also great to see a lot of new names rubbing elbows with the veterans.

Great to be back guys...here's to another great Steelers season!
