Pacman, Dallas reach three year deal

The Cowboys have signed Adam "Pacman" Jones to a three-year contact with a club option for a fourth season and submitted the documentation to the NFL.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he is confident the league will approve the first trade in NFL history involving a suspended player.

The Cowboys structured the contract with incentives in the form of roster bonuses and other financial inducements designed to reward Jones for good behavior and on-field perfomance.

Major McFadden Crush

This probably doesn't warrant a diary, no, this definently doesn't warrant a diary. Over at the Star-Telegram Gil Lebreten has a major crush on DMAC.

http://www.star-telegram.com/332/sto...

He goes as far as comparing the Arkansas tailback to the greats of the Cowboys past including Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett.

Fast. Versatile. Explosive. McFadden gets to enemy linebackers so quickly, it sometimes appears as if he's running straight at them. Yet, he's as elusive as Emmitt ever was and faster than Dorsett.

He does say that the Adrian Peterson comparisons are premature, that Peterson has a ways to go until he is on DMACs level.

Some have said that McFadden, a two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up, has the size, strength and speed to be the next Adrian Peterson. And they would be wrong.

McFadden is better than Peterson. And he'll be a more valuable NFL running back because he's more durable.

Another qoute from this mans love letter,

Trade up to draft McFadden? The Cowboys should consider such a deal only if.... only if they wish one day to return to the Super Bowl.

He goes on to say that we should trade near anything that Parcells wants for that #1 pick. We should trade Barber and our two firsts for that #1 pick.

About Probowls,

Barber might never make another one. McFadden is probably going to play in at least 10. If you prowl the Internet, there are highlight clips aplenty that star McFadden. Go see for yourself.

I just wanted to know am I the only one who thinks this man is bordering on losing his sanity?

Hey guys, I'm sorry if this isn't the place to post this as it doesn't really pertain to the Cowboys.

SB Nation is getting a makeover it seems and I was just wondering when Blogging the Boys is scheduled for the change. I went over to the only remodeled one so far, Athletics Nation. It looks pretty cool and it seems easy to use.

You can also go to the A's page to go get your old username and connect them to the other SB Nation blogs when they all go to the new style.

Oh, and the coolest thing, no more Diaries, now we get FanPosts.

K-Law Top 100 Prospects

Keith Law released his top 100 minor league prospects today. It had 3 Cards. Including, Rasmus, Boggs, and Garcia.

[http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/columns/story?columnist=law_keith&id=3221365&action=u psell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fmlb%2finsider%2fcolumns%2fstory%3fcolumnist %3dlaw_keith%26id%3d3221365]

Rasmus was at #5, here's what he had to say about him:

Rasmus has been very quiet in his march toward the big leagues and up prospect lists. Rasmus comes from a baseball-mad family -- judging by the number of Rasmuses I've seen at some high school showcases, I believe he has about a bazillion brothers -- and has an outstanding feel for the game. His tools all project to plus; he has very quick hands and gets his bat started early, so his plate coverage (even inside) is excellent, and he should grow into plus power, especially to pull. He's a plus runner who gets from zero to full speed quickly, so he should be an asset on the bases capable of stealing 20-plus bags a year. His arm is plus and would be playable in right, but he's adapting well to center field and only struggles now with balls hit over his head, something that should improve in time. Cardinal fans may have been disappointed to see Jim Edmonds go, but they'll love his replacement.

He had Boggs at #73 and Garcia at #85:

Boggs could pitch in the majors right now as a reliever, although the Cardinals have been developing him as a starter due to his durable frame and ability to hold his stuff through 90-plus pitches. Boggs has a plus pitch in his 93-96 mph fastball and a future-plus pitch in his sharp downer breaking ball at 82-84 mph. His fastball command, especially to his glove side, needs work and may just result from a little herky-jerky movement early in his delivery. More troubling is that for some reason he has struggled to miss bats despite his solid stuff, which would portend a move to the bullpen long term unless he finds a way to finish hitters off.

When healthy, Garcia has a low-90s fastball with good sink and a near-12-to-6 curveball that could be an out pitch. However, he missed most of 2007 with a sprained ligament in his elbow, and while it hasn't required surgery yet, elbow injuries often end up with the pitcher on the operating table.

Noticably missing from his list were Anderson and Perez. At least, I would expect Anderson and Perez to be on the list above of Boggs and Garcia.

NFL Draft Prospect Profiles

Been watching all the Senior Bowl coverage on the NFL Network and I had an idea. Based on everything I saw during the season, there are a lot of college football fans around here. Given that, why don't we all give out something along the lines of a prospect profile for the players on our college football teams?

I know that there are probably very few of us that are profesional talent evaluators. But I also think that somebody that is totally commited to one team is probably more knowledgeable about that one team than those "draft experts" that have to cover all 32 teams.

For instance, I am a Horn fan so I could do a profile on Jamaal Charles. It would look something like this:

Jamaal Charles- 6'1", 205
Age 21 (underclassman)
40-4.2 (unofficially)
Projection- mid 1st-early 3rd
2007 stats-
Attempts Yards AVG. LG. TDS.
258 1619 6.3 86 18

Pros-Very fast back with breakaway potential the Cowboys aren't used to. Personally, I see him going near the end of the 1st round after the Combine. Charles was actually at his best running up the middle and breaking through into the secondary as opposed to taking it to the outside every snap as somepeople suggest. He has even been considered a power back.

Cons-While he was very good in a limited role as a freshman, he had a mediocre sophmore campaign and has had only one true season as a starter.

Its meant to give us all more information on kids entering the draft that somepeople know more about than others.

Encouraging Game

This game showed us more things about this team than we could have imagined... And for the better.

One thing, how great is it that the Cowboys still won the game even with thier QB throwing 5ints, sure it would have been better if he didn't, but there is no way I could see the Colts surviving 5 picks from Manning this season.

The Bills played very well on defense and on a couple of the INTs they deserve the credit.

Tony Romo proved, once again, that no matter how the game is going, he turns up the heat in the fourth quarter. Folks kick never would have happened without Romo's drive. Only a handfull of QBs can hold comebacks like that without 5ints in thier mind, Brady, Favre, maybe Manning. Tony Romo, even with 6 turnovers, is becoming richer and richer every week. HE IS THE REAL DEAL. I would take a crappy QB for 3 quarters as long as he wins you the game in the 4th any day.

Folk has proven to be a consistent kicker, a long-distance kicker, and best of all, a clutch kicker.

The Cowboys will beat the Pats next week. Romo works hard in the film room and will not throw 5 picks next week. Like everyone says, they were looking ahead to NE. Well, then that means they have a head start on the Pats. The defense has picked it up every week and is looking dominant, they can hold the Pats to less points than the Browns did (34), Cincy(34), Buffalo(38), SD(38), and Jets(38).

Incoming Recruiting Class

I was just over at Rivals and is it just me, or does Texas's incoming recruiting class look bleak for Texas?

First off, they have zero 5 star recruits and they are vanishing quickly, there are only 2 left that Texas has a shot with. They do have quite alot of 4 stars but their highest ranked player comes in at #49...#49!!! Thats just not right.

They are, however, in the running for the #1 player in the country, Terrelle Pryor. A dual-treat QB who runs a 4.4 at 6'6'', 235 lbs. The man had 44 total tds as a junior. Pryor is drawing an awful lot of comparisons to, you guessed it, Vince Young. Also, they are in the running for the #1 back in the country(#4 player), Darrell Scott, who is 6', 204 and ran for 3,194 yards and 45 touchdowns as a junior.

I also noticed the lack of high ranked Texas players. With only 6 in the top 50, including 1 in the top 10, another in the top 20, and another in the top 30, and guess where they're going? OU.

I live in Columbia, MO where the Missouri Tigers call home. I am a big Colt McCoy suppoter until he falters in a new sytem. But DAMN, that Chase Daniel is amazing. For those of you who don't know, he is the starting QB for the MU Tigers and formerly played High school for Southlake Carroll, TX.

The man has stats (on pace for almost 4000 yrds and almost 40 tds), leadership, and is a winner(has his team at 4-0 going for 5-0 against Nebraska right now). He will go down as the greatest passer in MU history, and he can run as well (listed at 4.5 in the 40).

Now, I understand he is in his dream system, the system he played in High school, and maybe he couldn't run this F'ed up texas system, but Texas should have tried harder to get him. They did put some effort to get him, but for a QB that had a line like this his JR. year in high school:

Yds Avg TD Pct Yds TD Int
1,529 5.2 18 66.0 3,681 42 9

I just wish Texas had the guy.
