I live right next door to the I-Cubs ballpark in Des Moines Iowa, so of course I'm a loyal Cubbies fan! I blame my 4 year old grandson for getting me hooked on the I-Cubs though.
We love Bobby Scales and are thrilled with Bobby's success in Chicago! Go Bobby!!

Steroids = great hitting?
In my previous post I talked about the human side of Felix Pie, which remains largely unreported by anyone. In this post I'd like to address how we've become fans of steroids! Yes that's right. We've all loved to hate the great hitting of Manny Ramirez and his baggy uniform which we now know was hiding his dirty little secret?
Do you still want to see Manny play? Or how about A-Rod? I wouldn't walk across the street to see either of them play because I know they can't hit without their pharmaceutical aids! I'd rather watch AAA baseball where guys like Bobby Scales and Jake Fox play a pure form of baseball that's sadly disappearing.
Our love of steroid inspired hitters like Manny has got to stop! Instead we have to re-train ourselves to appreciate the work ethic of players like Felix Pie, Bobby Scales and others like them. Did you ever consider that it might be their refusal to use pharmaceutical aids that has kept them in the minor leagues?
How can you feel the same watching a baseball game knowing that your best hitters can't really hit? Even though I've been a Cubs fan, I've still secretly enjoyed watching Mannywood, haven't you? That's in the past now.
Felix Pie
It seems like no matter what Felix Pie does, some of you will find fault with him! I became a bonafied Pie fan last season in Iowa through the eyes of my autistic grandson D'Angelo. The connection Felix made with D'Angelo last summer will never be broken. This young man from the Dominican Republic has more heart than the entire town of Baltimore put together. There wasn't one game that Felix didn't walk out of the clubhouse and put his glove up to wave to a little boy whose love of baseball gave him relief from the tortuous effects of his autism! And Felix' trade to Baltimore has't dampened D'Angelo's love and enthusiasm for Felix or for the game of baseball for that matter.
If you are true fans of the game of baseball, you will give Felix Pie a chance to prove to you what he can do! I mean who cares about A-Rod or Manny who can only hit when they're pumped full of steroids? I would much rather watch a young player like Felix Pie who works hard and gives it his all in every single game.
I hope the Orioles management sees fit to keep Felix and work with him, instead of tossing him aside like Lou Pinella did last year. Felix started out as a 'special project' for Lou Pinella, but Lou forgot about his 'special project' somewhere along the way.
Some of the sports writers haven't even taken the time to talk to Felix and get to know him before they chew him up and spit him out. It takes a special kind of ignorance to write some of the hyper-critical things that have been written about Felix Pie.
The next time you're at an Orioles game, take the time to really watch the work ethic of #18! And then put your hands together and give him the respect he deserves!
