11/8 UPDATE: So, Stanford just whipped Oregon. Sagarin whiffed on that one, but F/+ nailed it. I may revisit which system I use in 2014, but for now let's see what changed. Updates in bold. No...

Sagarin Predicts the 2013 Football Season: Week 8 (Plus the Power Conferences)

Huh. That was something. Obviously, last weekend was a bit of a shake-up, so let's take a second to bask in some "Sagarin Told You So": Mizzou could be a 10-win team. Sure, UGA was beat the...

Sagarin Predicts the 2013 Football Season: Week 7 (Plus BCS Contenders)

Sagarin Predicts the 2013 Football Season: Week 5

Whoops; missed a week. Quick humble-brag: Sagarin (http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm) predicted a 6.11 point victory for the Tide over the Aggies in College Station. Once all was said and...

Sagarin Predicts the 2013 Football Season: Week 3

The value of a statistical model comes partially from its boldness: few college football fans would be excited by, for example, a system that predicted LSU would wax UAB. Then again, bold...

NCAA Director of Enforcement takes job with the Barn

Now, I'm not about to make a 90-minute Youtube video with spooky music trying to convince you there's some sinister conspiracy (although the Loose Change puns would almost make it worthwhile), but how is this not a conflict of interest? Maybe this is typical, and it's only because of higher scrutiny on the NCAA that this is newsworthy. All the same, the optics aren't great.

Note Dame Blog OFD Breaks Down BCSNCG Footage

9

Basically, this author's take is that the Notre Dame LBs failed to adjust to pre-snap movement (either as a result of complicated changes to the defensive scheme for this game or key players being distracted by off-field concerns), giving Alabama huge advantages in the run game. Regardless of whether you agree with the conclusions (or even like the blog), it's a well done write-up.

NEW YORKERS: anyone know the status of The Ainsworth

6

The Ainsworth (the Bama bar in Manhattan) is south of 34th street (26th street, specifically), so it doesn't have subway service. However, it's still reasonable walking distance for the game on Saturday. Does anyone know if they still plan on being open for the game? If not, is there any talk of a backup location?
