As a Junior at WSU, there haven’t been very many great football days since I’ve been on campus… 2008 Apple Cup was the last time I truly was excited after a win.  I still believed in the Cougs, having been front row to every home game for the past three years, a streak I plan on continuing.  But today was different.  Watching the Cougs play today, it was the same feeling that we've had the past two years, every little mistake seemed like it could be the snowflake that started the avalanche of destruction… From Justin’s muffed punt, to their first touchdown, to their second touchdown, everything that went wrong seemed to be just a precursor to our destruction.  But not today. They kept their heads up and showed everyone we are for real, if we can put together 4 quarters of consistent football, we can hang with anyone.

That seems more to be my rant about how I’m feeling, but what I intended to post about was this…

The football team's return to Pullman.  At the basketball game, they announced our football team would be arriving at 8:15 outside Bohler, and we should go show our support.  My first reaction was “Awesome, I’ll be there” and my group of friends went over there at 8:00.  We were the second group of people to show up, and as 8:15 got closer, a few more people kept appearing.  When 8:15 came, we had what I considered a fairly poor turnout, but the Cougs weren’t there yet.  Slowly, as the volleyball game ended, more and more people kept accumulating, and the energy in the area kept on growing.  From random “Go!” “Cougs!” chants led by Butch himself, to yelling at the kids in Regents to get outside, we were getting pumped.  As we waited, we continued to get more and more excited, and at about 9 o’clock, Louis Bland showed up.  A few of us recognize him, and ask if he’s heard from them.  “The bus just left the airport, 10 minutes.”  This quickly got passed along, and everyone got even more jacked.  As the busses rounded the corner,  the crowd exploded.  They pulled up and we rushed the busses, banging on the sides, cheering wildly, just randomly yelling in overall excitement as they got off the bus.  Shaking hands with Rankin as he walked off (HUGE HANDS btw), and just listening to every random cheer that started up ("Tuel" "Forrest" "Defense" "Special Teams" "O-Line" "Thank you Cougars" "Heisman"  and so many more) made me realize why I love this school.  Because after 16 straight Pac-10 losses, all it took was one win for what seemed like hundreds to show up and welcome our boys back on a Saturday night.  I don't think they expected us, from what I heard i don't think so, but I like to think that us being there had to have made today just a little bit sweeter for them.  Hopefully, they take from it what I was trying to say by being there... "We're here, always have been, always will be.  We love our Cougs."  Today was a wonderful day thanks to them, and I hope they enjoy it 100 times more than I do, because they deserve it. 

So with that i'm going to finish.  It's late, I'm tired, and I love WSU.... Go Cougs!

I just want to give a big props to our women's team down at ASU today.  First Pac-10 win of the season, against a fairly good ASU team.  I know they aren't doing too hot this year, but they definitely pulled out a great victory today.  Today they too are victorious Cougars, and deserve some recognition for their contribution to this schools greatness.  Good job ladies, and good luck this coming week at home and the rest of the season.
