First-time San Diego/PETCO visitor
Hey all, long-time weary Royals fan vising from RoyalsReview here.
I'll be out that way the end of this month and am hoping to catch a game at PETCO and cheer on Royals legend Matt Stairs. It'll either be the evening game on Wednesday 8/25 or the afternoon game on Thursday 8/26. Would really appreciate some feedback on the following:
- Any recommendations for one of the above games over the other?
- Where do you recommend trying to get seats? Not looking to break the bank but don't know when I'll be back out that way so fine spending a little extra for something good.
- Is PETCO near any of the sights/nightlife? Any particular hotel locations you recommend nearby?
Thanks in advance. Although I can't repay you directly, take comfort in the fact that the Royals will likely roll over for you in any future interleague series.
What would be an appropriate haul for Greinke?
A good buddy of mine thought the following return would be pretty reasonable, while I disagreed and thought it would be way, way too much to ask for:
-An MLB-ready middle infielder
-An MLB-ready centerfielder
-Three AA prospects
-Three A prospects
-First-round draft picks from 2010 through 2020 (11 total)
He also noted Greinke's team-friendly contract and the following:
"Consider the value-added significance of Greinke in KC. Imagine how much interest in the team - not to mention ticket sales - would suffer if they made another Dye for Perez or Beltran for Buck, Teahan, Wood deal."
What are everyone's thoughts?
First time in Toronto
Hey everyone. Visitor from RoyalsReview here, where we take pride in our annual double-digit losing streaks. I'm heading to Toronto with a few friends the first week of June to catch a couple Jays/Royals games (one night game, one day game) and had a few questions.
--Any recommendations on which seats to get?
--Best way to get to/from the stadium (we won't have a car)?
--Good bars/restaurants around the stadium?
Any other suggesting/tips would be helpful, as well as any general suggestions of things to do/eat/see while in Toronto.
Thanks,
Andy
First Time at Minute Maid
Hey everyone. Visitor from RoyalsReview here, where we take pride in our annual double-digit losing streaks.
I'll be down in Houston next weekend with a few co-workers and plan to help you all root against the Cardinals on Friday or Saturday. If any of you could answer a few questions for me it would be much appreciated.
- About how long of a commute to the stadium should we anticipate, and how early do you recommend getting there? (We'll be staying right around 249 and the Sam Houston Tollway.)
- Any reason why one of the two nights might be a better option (Friday or Saturday)?
- Should we buy tickets ahead of time, or will we be okay to pick some up when we get there?
- Any particular seats you recommend? Which side? (At Kauffman, for example, the seats on the 3rd base side get the shade before the 1st base side.)
Thanks in advance.
Royals vs. NL Central
So my roommate, being a huge Cubs fan, has been following their series against the Brewers pretty closely. Tired of hearing him talk about how awesome they've been playing, I reminded him that they play in a joke of a division and would be in no better than fourth place in the AL Central. Not surprisingly, this led to some Royals bashing. Which brings me to the point of this diary.
Does anyone have any stats to back up the fact that the Royals and Cubs of this year are actually far closer in quality of play than their win-loss records would otherwise indicate? Strength of schedules, common opponents, etc. Or, any defensible projections of what the Royals' record would be if they played in the NL Central and the Cubs' in the AL Central would be pretty helpful.
