Purple Row August 24th

August 24th, 2009 will go down as one of the most memorable dates and moments in Rockies history.  You do remember what happened on that day don't you?  It was a team first.  None other than Ryan Spilborghs' walk-off grand slam to end a 14-inning game with the S.F. Giants.

It also set a new land speed record for the fastest trip around the bases by a player after hitting a home run ball.  Guiness will totally back me up on this I'm sure.

But is there something about August 24th?  What happened in 2008?  Again, another game of extra innings.  This time it ended after only 12 however.  But by someone I bet you couldn't guess.

He hit a home run in the bottom of the 12th for a walk-off, 4-3 win over the Cincinati Reds.  Why we needed 12 innings to beat the Reds is another post entirely.

But who was it?  None other than Q!  That's right, John de Lancie Omar Quinatanilla.

And in 2007?  Down 1-5 in the bottom of the 9th Inning, the Rockies rally and score 5 runs for yet another walk-off win.  No homer or grand slam here though.  Just an E6 to let the winning run come to the plate.  Okay so it was against the Nationals and it wasn't an extra inning game - but still a walk-off win (IMO).

Surely this trend cannot continue back further can it?

Taking a look at 2006 we had a walk-off home 12-6 beating put on us by the Brewers.  Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Regardless if that trend didn't continue, I can guarantee that I will be watching on August 24th, 2010.  Heck I might even go to the game.  It's against the Braves.  That can't be a bad game to attend.

Purple Row 21 Days - Showing on FSN.

Just wanted to post and let those who may not have noticed, but the documentary 21 Days about the Rockies 2007 season will be showing on FSN/FSNHD on March 22nd (2:30PM) and 27th (4:00PM).

I always try to catch this when it comes on.  It would be nice if we could buy it, but at least they keep airing it.  It isn't showing up on the TV Schedule on FNSRM's website, however it is on the DTV guide.
