FA Centers
Memphis has offered Marc Gasol a qualifying offer...anyone know what that means? (as in how much is "qualifying"?) Other possible options include D. Jordan, N. Hilario, S. Dalembert (i really donut like this guy), others...
Honestly, If I'm the GM, I go out there and offer Gasol 10-15 million, whatever it takes to get a quality center. (In a comment I said Yao-esque money but I figure that may be wayy to high(the extra y emphasizes the point) for a guy that won't be Yao caliber)
As far as DeAndre Jordan? I'd offer him whatever Biedrins makes (9 million I believe?), which would probably be a sign and trade with scola (BYC yes?) + player involved to make salaries match, or I guess maybe a TPE and picks +Scola?.
The only other Center I would pursue is Nene. Now, I know he isn't the greatest defender and is primarily offense but I'm still intrigued. For him, I'd offer 10-15 million, same as Gasol.
My dream scenario for centers is obviously Dwight Howard, which is never gonna happen so why bother?
so folks...what do you think?
A tale of two cities: both are failing me...
So today the Rockets hired (in agreement at least) Kevin McHale, officially putting the Rockets in rebuilding (and hopefully less stressful) mode. Just a couple of days ago, the Lakers, my hometown team, decided to go with Mike Brown, the guy who was LePrincess' puppet coach and couldn't produce a championship if his life depended on it (I hope I'll be eating these words soon...). And so, with the Rockets out of the picture for contention for a while and the Lakers on the verge of self destruction, I have decided to adopt one more team, The Chicago Bulls. Now, most would consider this to be me just bandwagoning but I have a great reason, I'm moving there for college next year so it'll just be another home team. Also, I like their gritty play, especially Noah with his vivid emotion. Of course, I'll still be a Rockets fan, as I have stuck with them since I was a toddler but I guess I won't have much to contribute because all I can think of are ludicrous trades to make us better, which would seem antithetical to the new direction of the franchise (picking up and developing young talent, which makes us better but results in losing often)...
Daryl Morey and the Hair (part two)
Just for Batman313, I have approached my "sources" who say Daryl Morey is up to something big...a trade so gigantic it would destroy the NBA with it's power and not even the Mighty Gay Stern could fathom it's plausibility.
Catchy isn't it?...I just wanted to be a complete douche and draw y'all in for this REALLY COOL trade Idea I has. SO like, my gf works at the toyota center and saw my post on DM's hair fetish and was like, dude, how'd you figure it out? and I was like "whaaaa?" and then she's like "yah, DM tottttallly has a crush on BIG men with dreads..." and I'm like:

Daryl Morey and the Hair
Looking at our most recent acquisition, Demarre Carroll, I cannot help but jump to the conclusion that DM has a fetish for dreads.
Exhibit A:
DeMarre Carroll, out of Mizzou.
Exhibit B:
Jordan Hill. "Nuff said.
Exhibit C:
Chris Bosh. The db I really wanted to join us but now I'm glad he didn't.
So there you have it, three prime examples of Morey's infatuation/obsession/craze for basketball players with dreads. Another thing I realized--they are all listed as Forwards....maybe there's another facet to this fetish? Explored it must be. At a later time, however, it will be...
Off the rumors...we get a trade...
SO here we go, one final trade post from me before the deadline. Based off the rumors that Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace are available, I present you...http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4lotzco
For those who can't see it,
Three Way between Hou, Por, and Cha.
Hou gets: Nazr Mohammed, Gerald Wallace, DJ Augustin, Pryzbilla, and a TPE
Cha gets: Greg Oden, Yao Ming, Ish Smith, Brandon Roy, and a TPE
Por gets: Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw, Jordan Hill, and Aaron Brooks
Why would they do it?
Houston does it to get better. They get a former all-star(still highly capable) in Wallace, a serviceable center in Mohammed, a good young point in DJ, another serviceable big in Pryz, and a TPE.
Charlotte does it for the cap relief and hope for the future of Ish Smith and Brandon Roy, one a growing talent PG and the other an All-Star when Healthy.
Portland does it to move on and still contend. Their fans are yearning and this trade gives them alot more talent and much better hope for the future with immense depth. Of course, they lose Roy, their Star, but they need to face the fact that he's not coming back and producing like he would've without his injuries.
The major deal-breaker to me would be Michael Jordan. Is he willing to give up and start again? Is cap relief enough for him? Will he be willing to bet on Brandon Roy's future? And what if we offer multiple draft picks as well? would he bite? These are all questions that surround a trade of such caliber and I'm no genius with trades but I think that if these are the pieces Houston and Portland are looking for, a deal could be brokered by the GM's of the NBA, all masterminds, except KAAAAHHHNNN....
Trade Deadline?
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to know when the trade deadline is. That's all.
Of course, I need to fill up the minimum word count so I'm gonna put in a trade idea of mine.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4fysxez
Houston receives: Iguodala, Hibbert, TJ Ford, and 2 TPE's
PHI receives: D. Granger, J. Jeffries, and Brad Miller
Pacers receive: Elton Brand, Jordan Hill, Budinger, Brooks, and a TPE.
I don't really know how picks work but I'm sure there could be picks involved in a deal like this one. Also, this is just an idea I had based off of who has been mentioned on this blog as possible trade bait and targets.
My analysis:
Houston does it to get Iggy and a legit center
Philly does it to get rid of Brand's contract, plus they get pretty fair value in return in Granger.
Pacers do it to get Brooks and they also get good quality talents in Bud and Hill. They also get rid of Ford. To me the deal breaker would be Indy and Elton Brand's contract but i guess it was worth a shot...
Anyways, all I want to know is when the trade deadline is...

Wallace and Melo
So in anticipation of Tom Martin's post about who's on the trading block, I have come up with a list of possible players who could be involved in a multi-team, superstar deal. I have also drawn from trade rumors and conjured up my own multi-team deal which most of you will consider far-fetched. However, I do believe that with some alterations, my deal is plausible...
On to the list:
C-Bud
J Jeffries
and possibly Battier and even Yao
Trade involving them:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3x3hn8y
Hou: Melo, Wallace, D. Jordan, and Nene
LAC: DJ Augustin, M. Carroll, Diop, Miller and TPE
Cha: Baron Davis, Battier, Jeffries
Den: Kaman, Yao, CBud
Now, the weakest link in this trade would be Denver, because they could probably get alot more for Melo and Nene but if Melo agrees to sign an extension, we could offer draft picks as well. Of course, putting Yao in there hurts but after this season, he will be a free-agent again so we could possibly re-sign him.
Why each team would do it:
Hou: two top-tier SF's and solid centers
LAC: Get rid of Davis and Kaman for a similar package to the one they were offered by Cha and also get money, possibly draft picks as well
Cha: They want Davis, Battier gives them veteran leadership (which they desperately need) and also gives them good defense, Jeffries isn't useless and is actually a good defender as well
Den: Melo is probably going to leave, they get pieces in return and can rebuild, C-Bud has great upside, To me the draft picks and incentives would push this deal through, and possibly D. Jordan could go to denver instead of houston so that the deal is more attractive (two young talents and draft picks). Of course, melo would have to sign an extension otherwise no deal.
SO, that's my predictions for who's on the block and a far-fetched deal with an explanation. I am not going to ask you guys whether this deal is plausible but IF this trade were plausible and you were a GM, would you do it?
Trade rumor Season starts again?
So, I know I'm gonna get alot of flak for this thread but, seeing as the season is just depressing, might as well start rumoring trades again..........
So, here's a thread where you can post any trades you have in mind. If you don't want to read about trades, don't read this post. Also, a few rules,
1) we will reject others opinions with reason, not with stupid remarks
2) we will only post trades, no ads
3)that's about it.
Now here's my trade proposal, it's a little weird and most likely wont work...
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2948toh
Basically:
NYK gets: Chuck Hayes
Denver Gets: Brooks Battier and Jeffries
Hou Gets: Melo and Randolph
Now, I know there is a 1/10000000000000000000 chance this will work so don't waste your time telling me how bad that trade is. Of course, if you wish to take this as a starting point and maybe switch out players and teams by all means, be my guest.
So, without further adieu, POST AWAY!!!!!!
ABZ: "AND THIS LITTLE PIGGY SAYS WEEEEEEE!!!! WAIT! WHERE'D THE MOSH PIT GO!!!!!!!!!!"
Knicks have trade for 2011 Draft pick ready for Melo Trade
Here's a link to the story...
So the Knicks have a deal ready to get Melo. Does that mean they will? Of course not. But i sure hope that if there is a realistic chance of them landing Melo, that we are the ones giving them their pick back for serious talent.
Otherwise, there goes the value of our picks...
Anyways, saw it on yahoo, thought i'd just share it with y'all.
Heat not taking Dampier
This just in...Damp is not signing with the Heat
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AszXOKouem8xluQRmK4L3..8vLYF?slug=ap-heat-dampier
Apparently the Heat are not offering Damp a contract because they already have enough bigs....
What does this mean to us Rockets fans???
Could we possibly make a move at Dampier????
i need 75 words so i'll continue blabbering till i get it done....still need 7 more words...Hi all!
Rockets looking to land Anthony Randolph?
I was reading around the internet and i came across this article.
So apparently, the Rockets may help the Knicks in their pursuit of Carmelo by taking Anthony Randolph off their hands for a draft pick or two.
According to a source, the Rockets would consider trading a first-round pick for Randolph.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2010/09/25/2010-09-25_knicks_still_eyeing_melo.html?#ixzz10ZEdeody
I don't know about you guys, but i would do this trade in a heartbeat. Anthony Randolph for a draft pick that New York gave us in the first place...it's like getting him for free! That's not the only reason I'm so excited though!
If we can get Randolph for the pick and the Knicks can't land Carmelo, it would be a win-win for us. Of course, the downside is that we have to give away a potential top-10 pick, but i think Randolph is worth it. Do you?
Can a deal for Melo be made without K-Mart???
Hi all,
Now that we're back on the subject of Melo to Houston, one question has irked me for a while.....
What is the minimum we can offer to have a better offer, and trade for Melo?
What i mean is, what can New Jersey or the other teams offer and what would we have to offer to one-up that offer....
Because i believe that we can offer a great deal for Denver without giving up Martin, but i don't know if i'm missing something, as in underestimating the other team's offers
Yao Ming isn't gong anywhere.
Hello everyone,
So i've been reading comments on the whole Dampier situation and Minutegate and I've come across a few comments which suggest that we trade Yao and that we are only getting Dampier to be able to trade Yao...
Now, I agree the man has injury issues, but even thinking about trading your freakishly tall, f ' (Yao), Franchise Center, All-Star, Elite Big Man, Revenue Guy, etc...is just PREPOSTEROUS!!!!....
Especially when you talk about bringing in Dampier in his spot (BTW, when ppl say he's the second best center, they are JOKING)....
Anyways, I thought i'd just make my case as to why we shouldn't trade Yao before the same ppl go on another spree of the exact same comments about trading Yao and building a new team around Martin and Scola....seriously, Yao, Martin, and Scola are pretty much the same age, why would you even make the argument that trading Yao would make us any better or younger?
Carmelo Obsession...are we being played???
I was thinking, could Carmelo Anthony be playing with our emotions just as Chris "suck it" Bosh did???
If so, i think it's healthier for this blog to not get its hopes up too high....the higher you go, the harder you fall...
But!...who can help but speculate a little...therefore, I've decided to lay out all the assets we, the Rockets have to initiate a trade for Carmelo (assuming he signs an extension of course)....
From these assets, you can structure a trade for Melo, or even a trade surrounding Melo which may land us another "coveted" player...
JUST A TIP, DARYL MOREY IS A MAGICIAN/WIZ/GENIUS ARE N O T, NOT GOOD REASONS!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW: if i miss any assets, please add them in the comments, i'll keep the post updated...
Rockets Roster: with salaries, etc... http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9183
Draft Picks: can include the NYK picks and/or our own picks
Trade Exceptions: most notably the $6 million from Ariza
Mellow with getting Granger?
I have another quick trade...This time for Danny Granger
I know this is more unlikely than the first deal for Iggy but you never know, with a few draft picks anything can happen...
Here's the trade:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2fkooe3
HOU gets Granger
NYK gets Melo and $2 million TE from Indiana
DEN gets Curry and Gallinari (curry makes salaries match)
IND gets J. Jeff, Hayes and A. Randolph
To me this could work with a few picks or a TE ($6 Million is a good deal of money)
Now, to me IND is the weakest link, i don't know if they'll part with Granger for so little but i'm sure if DM wanted, he could figure a way out...NOT SAYING MOREY IS A GENIUS WITH MIND POWERS, JUST THAT HE CAN PUT TOGETHER A MORE LOGICAL TRADE THAN ME :)
HOU does it to get Granger
NYK does it for Melo and Superfriends 2
DEN does it to get good value back with Gallinari and Curry to make salaries work(BTW another player can be put here instead of Curry...i just don't know who tho)
IND does it for Randolph and Hayes and EXP Contracts...this is most definitely the weakest link...
What do you guys think?...How can we fix this trade up...or better yet, let's propose new trades to satisfy a demand as such...
Mellow with getting Iggy?
Hello fellow Dreamshakers...
So Melo would LOVE NYC right?...
Well, what if we can help him get there while picking up a satisfying piece of our own?
The following Links to what i'm getting at...
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=25s7zxa
for those of you without access, here's the idea
4-way trade between HOU, DEN, NYK, and PHI
HOU gets Iggy
NYK gets Melo plus 2.0Million TE from PHI
PHI gets Curry, Hill, A. Randolph
DEN gets Gallinari and Battier
Now, if any of the teams wants, we can throw in our own TE and maybe even the Knicks swap and pick...
I really think that this deal could work...
HOU gets Iggy and maybe if DEN buys out Battier him too...WITHOUT blowing things up...
NYK gets Melo and money, they can fantasize about their own superfriends
PHI gets salary relief and two capable players with potential in Hill and Randolph
DEN gets salary relief with a seasoned vet defender in Battier and a high-ceiling shooter in Gallinari
SO once again HOU Dreamshakers...
WHAT DO YOU THINK?...How can we improve this type of trade to make it work without killing our depth because that's what i think DM would do, get the right player for a very sweet price...
Granger? (GM for a day Thread)
UPDATE: Please people, this is only meant to be a GM for a trade type of thing, the trade i posted is crazy, i admit it, but i just want to get people moving and thinking again, so, let's just all accept the following trade sucks and move on to the real meaning of this post...to explore all trade possibilities...
Hmmm...
Due to the slow offseason, i've decided to contribute a highly unlikely but sweet if it happens deal for Granger...
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=26ajdcs
Now, i know it seems like the other teams, especially Indiana, is losing out on this and that is why i am asking you guys for input to make this trade better and more suitable for each team...
So Please, give me your best and brightest trade ideas for this and any other trades...
I will act as the opposing GM's and see what this looks like....
Cool it Folks!
I've been noticing over the past few days that numerous nubes have joined this blog and have started to write shit about other people. Please remember guys, we are a blog dedicated to the Houston Rockets. All of us here are passionate fans (and if you aren't, you can leave). We all have the rights to our own opinions and if you disagree with the idea, state it and state why you disagree. Instead, we have people here who instead of thinking clearly and trying to create a mature argument, start to write shit about other people. Furthermore, they have started to whine about it and are demanding the Editors to "fire" other editors (yes, i am referring to the Dave argument). I personally believe that there is a reason they are the editors and we are simply contributors to the Blog, therefore, we should not be trying to interfere with the fine job they are doing. Seriously, how would this blog be if we didn't have UofTOrange and Tom's insightful Analysis and Leadership (the Battier and Hayes of this Blog)? If we didn't have the limited but thoughtful comments and posts by Xiane? Furthermore, how would we feel if there weren't the witty and controversial remarks made by Dave? I truly believe that Variety is the Spice of Life and if we didn't have this wonderful variety of responsible editors to add to our own mix of fans, why, we'd be nothing more than a Clutchfans...there, I said it. Therefore I believe that it is of utmost importance to the health of this blog that people begin to accept the adversity and add to the discussions rather than distract from the main topic, the Rockets. So please please people, calm your tits and lets make this blog productive once again.
Sincerely,
Roxbybirth

Is DM Planning On Bringing Llull Over
So i was thinking about the Lee trade and the fanpost posted before mine by ClutchFanSince94...this is an expansion of my idea in the comments of that fanpost....
So apparently Lowry is the Big loser because he won't get minutes...if this is true, then why sign him to a nice contract?...
I think DM has something big up his sleeve...like a trade for an All-Star, over the top guy...
in this hypothetical situation, we would center a deal around Brooks, Jeffries, and the 6 million trade exception....
and then...due to the lack of a backup PG, we would buy out Llull's contract and bring him over....
I don't know about you guys, but to me...this is a DM type move...
what do y'all think?
Chris Paul wants out of NO, we can help! (link fixed)
UPDATE: link is fixed!!!!!!
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=293ewyl
OF COURSE, we can always sweeten the deal with the NYK picks, different players, etc...
why NO does it?: CP3 wants out, we offer them a proven player in Battier, intense cap relief, and the picks and maybe a pg from us will off them the ability to rebuild quickly...
why we do it?: we get CP3 while not sacrificing too much, once again, i really think we will throw in someone like AB but i prefer to not think about it....
SO, please comment and explain what you think and how this trade idea can be fixed!!!!!!!!!
Isaiah Thomas GM of Knicks???
Ha...
I was reading an article on Yahoo that Isaiah Thomas is gonna be the new GM of the Knicks...
Now, idk about you guys, but if this happens....i expect DM to make a few trades with the Knicks....
Oh man am i excited....just think about it...it'll be a million times as good of a deal as the J-Hill/Kwiki-Mart trade...
What do you guys think about this? one more word....
LeBron better have a good explanation for this crap
Hi Cleveland fans....i don't know about you guys, but LeBron leaving is monumentally bad for the city...i know i've never been to Cle but from what i hear, u good folks have been spurned by the asses of sports seemingly forever.....therefore, as i know there will be mass depression in cleveland, i can only say, if LeBron leaves, don't stress too much, it just proves how big of a douchedick he is.....
so please cleveland, don't be rash.................and end up regretting your actions over a douche who isn't even worth our attention (though he is an amazing talent...tho no heart...(but he can fix that tonight so...))
LeBron Party in South Beach
Just visited Fear the sword....
man i feel so bad for those guys....
LeBron is killing them every minute...
His newest stab?
a party this weekend in South Beach.......
here's the link
http://www.usmagazine.com/celebritynews/news/lebron-james-plans-weekend-party-in-south-beach-201087
Lebron used to be in my top five all time stars....now he can just go screw himself at his party.....poor Cleveland...my heart cries for their poor souls....LeBron the "baby killer" i'll call him from now on.....
now to move on to other things...
Now that Bosh is officially not coming here..................
we are still left with the rest of the "best free agent class in history"
so who do you guys think the Rockets target (thinking that they do go after someone)
i'm gonna start this one off....
it's a longshot but LeBron.....
LOL...i know i'm only dreaming but with LeBron, our team wins the Championship next year hands down...no matter what happens to Yao (someone pinch me plz)
now go little pigeons and express thine opinions!
Stat to Knicks
Source: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AqbDH7NR4H5p0GJo4EqEsoC8vLYF?slug=ys-stoudemireknicks070510
it appears that the Knicks now have Stat on their boat....
now, the first thing i thought was, how sad...how tragic is it to think of what Amare' could have been and what he will be with the Knicks....
no supporting cast for Amare'= enormous waste of ttalent...
and to top it all off, the Knicks are Paying him 100 mil over 5 yrs...
that's 20 frikin million per year....
sorry for the horrible formating and writing style but i just can't help it i'm laughing so hard at the Knicks' failure
Patrick Patterson=potential problem?
Source: Patterson's draft day diary
So i'm not sure how many of you read Patterson's draft day diary but in it he says he wants to start this year and be a rookie of the year contender...if i understand his words correctly...
Now, this could be an interesting position for Houston...how would Patterson be a starter?...to do that we would have to trade away Scola, which we are looking to do....But what if Scola stays?...or what if we get Bosh?...
This little bit concerns me about him but what do you guys think?
is this just me being a pessimist or could i be on to something?
good thing is he seems like a good guy so hopefully no tension :)
Draft Day Trade
So I know all of us can't wait for the NBA Draft to see what DM will do.
But i have another trade proposal to pass some time....
Background: None of the better players in the draft (at 12) want to work out for Memphis.
so i propose, trade our 14th pick, Jeffries for Thabeet, 12th pick, and filler for salaries
i HIGHLY doubt it'll work but you never know....it's a small trade but if we move up to 12, it would be easier to get a better player....
interesting read
So i ventured to the Houston4Bosh.com site and was linked to clutchfans....
and i found this as one of the comments...
ONCE AGAIN! NOT MY IDEA!!!!!
Posted by Valorita:
By now, you (and Wade and Lebron) have realized that it takes more than just one stellar player for a team to go deep in the playoffs. To be a championship contender, you NEED at least two great players surrounded by a solid core of veterans and role players. It's not about ego or whose team it is. Jordan needed Pippen, Shaq and Kobe needed each other, etc.
You should come to Houston because with this team, everything is already primed for a championship run. The only thing missing is you.
Because of the assets the team has, they can do a S&T (max $$$) for you and still have what it takes to be true contender. In essence, this is one of those rare scenarios in life where you don't have to compromise on any of the criteria that you regard as important in your life.
In fact, if you wanted to bring one of your friends (Wade or Lebron), the Rockets would still be able to accommodate everyone.
Trade 1: J. Hill, S. Lull, J. Jeffries, D. Andersen, 2011 NY pick
for You!
Trade 2: K. Martin, T. Ariza, 2012 NY Pick
for your friend Wade
2011-2012 Houston Rockets
Yao/Hayes
Bosh/Scola
Battier/Budinger
Wade/Taylor
Brooks/Lowry
+ MLE
+ #14 2010
To recap you can make the most $$$, be a global icon, have the team mentioned above, play in a great environment, and be perennial championship contenders year in/out. No other team can offer you these terms. So,tell me Mr. Bosh... why not?
what do u guys think about it?
