Weird Stats Discussion
I always find it interesting to look up stats on basketball-reference to try and make my own conclusions on players. No im not Hollinger, I back up my statistical analysis along with actually watching the game.
I was looking at Monta's splits..
Games at home: 28 ppg, 6.3 apg, 4 rpg on 48% shooting, 41% 3 pt shooting and 81% FT
wtf...I've never seen such a difference between playing at home and on the road.
+7 points, +1.3 apg, -0.2 rpg, + 7% fg shooting, +10% 3pt shooting..
Paul Pierce is almost identical home and away...
Home- 18.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.3 asts pg, 502 FGA, 49.8% FG, 37.0% 3P, 41 steals, 113 personal fouls
Away- 18.9 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.2 asts pg, 505 FGA, 49.1% FG, 37.0% 3P, 37 steals, 114 personal fouls
<<as a couple examples>>
Also, another interesting thing I found when discussing Kobe vs Lebron (hate this discussion tbh) (about rest days)
Kobe:
0 Days Rest: 27.5 PPG (51.7 FG%), 1.9/4.7 3 PT (40.7%), 5.7 REB, 4.7 AST, 1.6 STL
1 Days Rest: 24.2 PPG (43.3 FG%), 1.2/4.2 3 PT (29.5%), 5.0 REB, 4.6 AST, 1.1 STL
2 Days Rest: 28.4 PPG (45.8 FG%), 1.8/5.0 3 PT (35.0 %), 4.9 REB, 5.0 AST, 1.0 STL
3 Days Rest: 22.7 PPG (44.4 FG%), 1.2/4.2 3 PT (28.0 %), 4.0 REB, 5.0 AST, 1.7 STL
Kobe has his most efficient games when they're on a back-to-back despite his diminished athleticism, but he has his worst games when he has the most rest (3 days)...kind of weird. I guess it's a rhythm thing for him, if he's playing on a back to back he has the rhythm..and the fact that he doesn't practice, so 3 days of rest is sh$t for him.
EDIT: It's the complete opposite with Lebron, he thrives on 3 days of rest...I guess that's because his game is heavily dependent on athleticism, while Kobe's is dependent on rhythm
DOUBLE EDIT: Just wanted some other people to contribute their findings as well, I enjoy this kind of discussion about weird stats.
Around the NBA thread 3/14/2011: 1st seed still on the line.
Well lets hope for a Nets win here, I still believe the Celtics are weaker after the Perkins trade and the vets haven't been playing well at all.
Then of course we have the Heat/Magic playing tonight who I dont fear anymore but itll be nice to get somemore distance on them, just in case. Either way it feels good to be confident in our team again, no matter what happens we have an awesome team to root for for awhile.
Go Nets!
Since you guys seem to love these.

Sad Perk is Sad.
Heat vs Nuggets
There has to be someone watching besides me on this active blog. Looks good thus far, ESPN knows the heat is so popular, but do they know they are really popular because of the masses that hate them so much?
Damn it wouldve been nice to know we were getting rid of Kirk so we could have drafter Ty
Affalo is staying in Denver dont ask!
Our future SG Smith is looking alright as well..
Go nuggets!
How can you not love these players sometimes?

Big Baby pushing kids
Just had to one up the guy below me!
What do the Top 5 WR's in football have in common
Top 5 WR's in the league In my opinion
-Randy Moss
-Terrell Ownes
-Andre Johnson
-Larry Fitz
-Calvin Johnson
What do they have in common? 0 rings
You can others to the list...
-Steve Smith
-A. Boldin
I just thought i would add this because of all the crazy Wide Reciever talk around here, I understand we dont have any 1st recievers but do you really need amazing recievers to win a ring?
Thoughts?
KG is such an inspiring player with so much emoition and plays with so much passion.............
Terry Porter Fired
Not sure what this means for the Suns in regards to whether they still trade Amare and Shaq.
Pretty sad that he didn't outlast Vinny. Maybe they make a bold coaching hire, say Avery Johnson, Kerr's teammate on the 1999 Spurs team, and try to salvage this season and bring home a championship with this squad

Not that reliable of a source, but ill take it.
Potential Peavy deal remains elusive, and so does the pitcher himself
"I have had no discussions with the Cubs or any other club about Peavy since the winter meetings, so there is really nothing to update," Padres General Manager Kevin Towers said via e-mail last night. "Our position remains the same. We are not pursuing other clubs about potentially moving Jake and nobody has contacted us either since the winter meetings."
"Obviously, we took note of the trade that took place (Sunday)," Axelrod said Monday, en route to an appointment with Peavy. "You would certainly not be out of line to surmise from all of (the Cubs' moves) that they might be working toward something. But I haven't heard a word that anything is different."
"I think too much is being made of the Chicago/Baltimore trade as it might relate to us," Padres CEO Sandy Alderson said Monday. "Chicago had a crowded outfield, probably needed to move Pie, had limited interest in him among other clubs and knew what Baltimore would give up from the earlier discussions with us."
Aramis on Fake teams
Not a huge deal at all hear, just wondering what people thought about the comment.
"Aramis Ramirez-am I the only one who thought he lost alot of weight last year? Due to Mitchell report?"
Never thought of him as a roids user, but this made me think for awhile that while he did look to lose alot of weight wasnt it from that new diet they were all on? Is this reason to be concerned?
The Professor's most formidable weapon may have been his mind
"It must have been the first or second week of the season and we were sitting together on the bench, neither of us pitching that night," Young said Monday via E-mail. "Immediately to our left were the stairs that lead from the dugout to the field, with a big opening in the screen.
"Geoff Blum was up and it was late in the game. They had a right-handed pitcher on the mound, I don't recall who. Blum had seen a couple of pitches and right before the pitcher started his delivery for the next pitch Maddux leans into my ear and said, 'Watch out.' "
In a flash, the pitcher threw a slider down and in that Blum smashed foul into the visitors' dugout and just past Young's ear. Maddux had successfully anticipated the pitch, its location, the angle of Blum's swing and the danger.
"I already knew how great Greg was," Young said, "but that experience showed me how Greg sees the game a little bit differently than the rest of us."
These weren't the tears
I was expecting to cry.
Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all Love y'all
See ya in 09
Only Need One
The way i see it we only need 1 win from Z/Harden. Lilly will be dominant and Demp will come back in game 5 and show us what would have happened with any sort of accuracy on the mound.
Alot of people are feeling down n out already and i must admit im one of them. But ill be damned if I dont trust the true badass rotation we have had all year.
One win from Z/Harden and I feel we can more then easily win this series, and I like those odds.

Ronnie Woo Woo arrested?
at a sox game?
Anyone know anything else bout this? I dont hate the guy nor like the guy, just wondering.
So Lou has decided...
To not carry 13 pitchers when Scott Eyre comes off the DL, thank god because as Al has already shown us that would be a terrible idea. So now that Lou has listened to his BCB writers who is he going to send down to AAA??
I really dont see a clear person, mostly likely Fox. At least Pie gets to stay around longer, eh? :D
On another note: Good time to have a day off, hopefully we can come back energized and ready to have a good series against the Dbacks.
Are we Alone?
I just have to ask this? Everywhere I go i see nothing but disrespect thrown at the cubs and cubs fans.
Sometimes i wonder if Al is the only one on SBNATION who keeps posts clean and is respectful to rival clubs.
http://www.brewcrewball.com/2008/4/29/470171/game-thread-26b#comments
Is the latest thing Ive seen from our fellow SBNATION sites.
(also after reading that interview i was shocked Al spent the time to answer the questions because they were almost slanderous)
Some of you may think im amking a big deal out of nothing but I find this kind of stuff extremely disrespectful and I really dont unserstand where the hate comes from.
Are we alone in trying to be a respectful site?

Old school Cubs
Mark DeRosa said the recent WGN special celebrating 60 years of televising Cubs baseball should be must-see TV for all of his teammates.
"I stayed at home the other night and watched that "Cubs Forever" show," he said. "Every once in a while teams should be forced to watch stuff like that and realize how much it means to the city and to the ex-players that have been here, and how lucky we are to get a chance to put on the uniform and play in front of these people.
"I just got a kick out of how much it would mean to the former players if we were able to do it. Sometimes during the course of the year you hit the dog days and lose sight of the overall goal of what you're playing for.
"Every once in a while, to pop a tape in like that would fire you up. I was watching that thinking, 'Man, it's pretty special playing here.' "
Mark Derosa is and will always be one of my favorite Cubs right below people like Ryno in my book.
