Why hasn't Guillermo Pimentel signed yet?

Never mind.

Two newspapers in D.R. say Guillermo Pimentel signed with #Mariners. Can't confirm, but I'd be surprised if they were wrong

Ben Badler (BP)

Trainer confirms OF Guillermo Pimentel signed with #Mariners for $2m. Contract was signed as the clock struck midnight on July 2

Jorge Arangure (ESPN)

This had been long rumored, but good to see it apparently got done. Nice job Engle.

Have we discussed Morrow's admission on the radio the other day?

I saw Churchill over at Prospect Insider refer to it. I think he even linked the interview, but I couldn't get it to work. Saw then I see Keith Law references it in his chat today that Morrow admitted that he asked to be put in the bullpen because he didn't want to start the year in the minors.

How god damn ridiculous. Not only that he requests that, but that we agreed.

LF- Chavez

CF- Gutierrez

DH- Sweeney

3B- Beltre

RF- Junior

2B- Lopez

1B- Branyan

C- Johjima

SS- Betancourt

Nice to see some effort by Wak to move the lefties down in the order vs Liriano. I was holding my breathe thinking that he was gonna force feed Griffey and Branyan into the #3 and #5 holes respectively even though we're facing a tough lefty. Lopez down at 6 and Gutz at 2 is a little suprising, but I like it.

Watching Karl Ravich say that Jose Lopez projects as the best defensive infielder in 2009?

According to Pecota. He's projected as a +11, and Ravich says this is the best mark of any ML infielder.

Excuse me for not being familiar with Pecota and their defensive metrics, but is this for real? I checked out this video on ESPN hoping to see something about Gutierrez, but when they brought up second basemen I was stunned with what they were saying about Lopez.

Anyone care to enlighten me how Pecota comes to this conclusion?

He can't guard anybody except guys like Dontae Jones who have no offensive game.

He is the worst pick and roll defender on the roster. He doesnt even want to guard guys one on one cause he knows he cant. You constantly see him shade or open his body up while defending one on one, basically just conceding that he's going to need help from a teammate.

On the pick and roll, he never fights over the top. He gambles constantly when he off the ball leaving other in precarious positions.

I'm as big of a Rudy fan as anybody, but this guy gets such a pass from the fanbase. He's a huge liability on the defensive end.
