Come on Astros fans, do your part.

Please go to http://www.change.org/petitions/saveourstrosorg and sign the petition in regards the Houston Astros moving to the AL West. As a Rangers and Astros fan, this would be a huge conflict of interest and is just wrong. MLB is taking advantage of one of its franchises by taking advantage of the Astros ownership change. Houston needs to stay in the NL where they belong. BOTH fan bases (Rangers and Astros) stand to lose fans if such a move happens. Thanks

SEC in 2012

With Missouri and Texas A&M joining the SEC in 2012, all of a sudden, the SEC looks watered down and no different than any other conference in football. Missouri and Texas A&M, to me, based on their performance in the past decade, seems to be pretty weak pickups by the SEC. Texas A&M cuts all ties to the other Texas institutions and will not play them for the foreseeable future which will hurt recruiting. Missouri loses its tie to Texas recruiting. Both teams will be bottom feeders in the SEC and will make the SEC look weaker and weaker as the SEC plays out its current TV contract. When its time to negotiate a new one, the money will look no different than any other football conference. Texas A&M will look like a shell of itself in a few years and the rest of the country will wonder why they decided to go to the SEC.

Tim Kurkjian - "Astros to have 300 loses in the next 3 season."

I generally think of Tim Kurkjian as a good baseball analysis. With the recent trades he has the Astros as 100 game losers the next 4 years. How do you'll think about the recent trades? How is Carlos Lee still here? I guess no one wants Lee. He's the only known "star" left on this squad.

Lone Star Ball Astros to AL, bad for 'Texas' Baseball Fans

When I saw Texas Baseball fans, I mean fans for both the Rangers and the Astros. I'm a huge baseball fan and with The Rangers and Astros being in separate leagues, I can like both teams equally. I know there are many Rangers and Astros fans out there.

Who needs Lee?

When you have Colby Lewis. Colby Lewis proved himself in the playoffs as a dominating pitcher and outpitched Lee in my opinion. Add CJ Wilson and add some others from within or with trades. I'm sure there are other players/pitchers who respect this game better than Cliff Lee, a guy who would dare to sign with a team who traded him away a year ago. Sounds like he broke an unwritten rule in baseball by doing that. Now the Phillies have the players they traded for Lee and Lee back. Some trade. Phillies used Lee once, what makes Lee think they won't use him again. I thought Lee could be a Loyal team mate in the Rangers organization. I guess we know his true colors.

Ranger: Cliff Lee leaning toward Texas, but 'it's a matter of the money'

If it's TRULY about the "money" signing with Texas will give him the most when you account for distance from home, taxes, etc.

NL gets two advantages vs the AL team with Home Field Advantage in the World Series.

I've always liked how the AL and N:L had it's differences with the DH/non-DH rules as a way to "seperate" the leagues. After further thought, the NL needs to adopt the DH to even the playing field for the World Series. The NL won't do this voluntarily of course because they would be loosing their advantage over the AL in the World Series. When a NL team has home field advantage in the World Series, they get an additional advantage because of the non-DH rule. When an AL team plays in the NL park, they are forced to play with one hand tied behind their back. When the NL team plays in the AL park, they get to add an extra hitter to their lineup. Either the NL should adopt the DH or when the play at an AL park, they should still play by their own rules and bat the pitcher. I know that this has been around for a long time, but I think there's enough evidence to show this unfair advantage. I dodn't have the stats on hand, but I know one of you out there can do the research. I would like to see the stats collected pertaining to this argument to see what the stats say abotu this.

Time for a shake up?

I know Gilbert isn't getting any help from his receivers and backs, but how many more chances is he going to get before Case McCoy gets a shot? It's time for Greg Davis to go. Let's see what Applewhite can do as offensive coordinator. I don't think you can call this loss or any more losses an upset anymore, it's how the season is going. Gilbert's light hasn't came on yet and what he does well isn't being utilized enough.

Round Rock Express

I am both a Texas Rangers and Houston Astros fan though I lean heavily torward the Texas Rangers because I've lived closer to Arlington all of my life. I was wondering for the Astros and Round Rock Express fans out there, especially Austin area fans, what has been the reaction torward the Round Rock Express with the affiliate change to the Texas Rangers?

Jacksonville St. pulls off 2OT upset over Ole Miss, 49-48

What happened to the defensive minded SEC team? Michigan losing to App State is one thing, and SEC team losing to a 2-A school, laughable.Wasn't Ol' Miss a Bowl team in '09? How says the SEC is the best conference in Division 1?

Stephen Shimshak, an attorney representing the Commissioner’s Office, let the following fly after the phone conference was done, not knowing that the call was still on.

"If [Lynn] doesn’t confirm the plan we’ll just terminate the franchise. We'll take over the g--damn franchise."

What will this mean for the Rangers? or Tom Hicks, Greenberg etc.

Who's with me?

After the called strike that, if not cought, would have hit the back stop next, missing the catcher and ump completely on Vlad's foot outside strike. I say the MLB should have the home plate umpire behind a booth in the press box with camera monitors and hand radios to the other three umps. The strikes can be called via pitch traxs placing the pitch where the pitch was and then the home plate ump can say ball or strike based on where the pitch actually was. Then he has no excuse to call a pitch a strike a foot outside so he can get off the field and get off. That home plate umps call on the final pitch should get him fined and suspended.

Pitching Improves while hitting slips...

Oh Where has the Rangers bats gone?

I remember when the Rangers could really pound opossing pitching but the pitchers would lose it or keep the game close. Now that the pitching is descent, why the hell can't we hit? Can't the Baseball development guys have both hitting and pitching in hand? So far this year, when the bats do cause some damage, the pitching falters, when the pitching is good, the bats go quiet. Go figure.

With Josh Hamilton seeming to be injury proned in the outfield, I think he should spend some time at DH to prevent injury. What does everyone think?

Texas Basketball, on the slide?

Other then the 01-02 & 04-05 campaign where Texas finished 10-6, 20-10 & 9-7, 20-10 overall, Texas is going through the worst two years of conference play in over a decade. Texas has averaged no more then 3-4 losses in conference play every year other then 01-02, 04-05, and 08-09. Texas is starting to look like a middle pack conference team. If Barnes and company fall flat in conference again next year, should there be any changes? From 01-09, the conference loses per season are 6,3,4,7,3,4,3,7. This year Texas sits at 5-4 and in danger of losing 6-7 or more conference games.

NFL Draft

I would like to see Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley drafted by the same team. Which team would Colt be the best fit? With Colt's stellar accuracy, he has the makings of becoming a star in the NFL. Does he remind anyone of another accurate QB currently in the NFL? Payton Manning? Maybe take over Payton Manning in a few years? I'm not a Colts fan but might be a good fit for McCoy. What do you think?

Texas loses to K-State, not surprised.

After I saw the way Texas slipped by A&M in OT on Saturday, I knew it Texas played the same way at K-State that they would probably be delt their first loss. Free Throw shooting will put you in a hole and can lose you a game on a poor shooting night. Especially when you are on the road in the Big 12. With a 2 day turnaround between games, Texas' shooting had to rebound if they wanted to leave K-State with a win.

What can Barnes do to help this teams free throw shooting? Poor free throw shooting will not win you a Big 12 Tourney or NCAA Championship. Tournover and defensive rebound issues will not help either. Come March, Barnes and the Longhorns need to solve these issues if they want to win the Big 12 Tourney and have a shot at the NCAA Tourney Finals.

Texas vs. Alabama - Round 2

Texas vs. Alabama - Round 2 To bad Texas can't schedule a scrimmage in a few weeks for round 2 (after McCoy is 100%). But how would a non-conference game pitting Texas and Alabama sound?

Would other Texas fans be interested in such a game? Would prefer it not to be a 1st game of the year conference so Texas can have a game or two under their belt. I've always seen non-conference games as tune up for conference. That's why good teams usually opt for weaker opponents since there are no scrimmage games before the season. An Alabama and Texas matchup wouldn't be able to be put on the schedule for atleat 2-3 years in my opinion.

Colt McCoy was ready for 'Bama. He was going to lite their defense up.

Colt told his Dad after the injury in the 2nd quarter,

"I had them, I knew what they were going to do before they did it." -Colt McCoy

He put his heart and soul into the game. The injury took that from him, Alabama became victorious because of it.

I will be a fan of Colt McCoy for the rest of my life. Which ever team drafts him for the NFL, I will become a fan of and follow his career wherever he goes.

The Heisman shouldn’t be won or lost by one game. It should be the whole year and highlights. That’s why it is for most outstanding player of the year, not what you did right before voting takes place

The vote is also becoming laughable. The vote seems to be influenced by the BCS standings more year after year. There is precedent for a winner with career records (Ricky Williams and Ron Dane). Colt has the most wins and highest comp % of any QB ever and the first QB to record 12 wins in back to back seasons.

If you look back at past heisman winners, especially before the BCS, I know there are winners on teams that didn't finish in the top two in the country. I'm not rooting for or against Colt, but I believe that he is a worthy Heisman winner in my book and to not be included with the winners of past Heismans would be bad for the trophy. They risk the Heisman trophy becoming irrelevant in college football.
