A Raiders fan, a Broncos fan and a Chiefs fan were all in Saudi Arabia, sharing a smuggled crate of booze. All of a sudden the Saudi police rushed in and arrested them. The mere possession of alcohol is a severe offense in Saudi Arabia, so for the terrible crime of actually being caught consuming the booze, they were sentenced to death!

However, with the help of very good lawyers, they were able to successfully appeal their sentence down to life imprisonment. By a stroke of luck, it was a Saudi national holiday the day their trial finished, and the extremely benevolent Sheik decided they could be released after receiving just 20 lashes each of the whip. As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheik suddenly said, "It's my first wife's birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping."

The Chiefs fan was first in line (he had drunk the least), so he thought about this for a while and then said, "Please tie a pillow to my back." This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. The Chiefs fan had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain when the punishment was done.

The Broncos fan was next up (he almost finished an entire fifth by himself), and after watching the scene, said "All Right! Please fix two pillows on my back." But even two pillows could only take 15 lashes before the whip went through again, sending the Bronco fan out crying like a little girl.

The Raiders fan was the last one up (he had finished off the crate), but before he could say anything, the Sheik turned to him and said, "You support the greatest team in the world, your team has some of the best and most loyal football fans in the world. For this, you may have two wishes!"

"Thanks, your most Royal highness," the Raiders fan replies. "In recognition of your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 20, but 100 lashes."

"Not only are you an honorable, handsome and powerful man, you are also very brave," the Sheik says with an admiring look on his face. "If 100 lashes is what you desire, then so be it. And your second wish? What is it to be?" the Sheik asks.

"Tie the Broncos fan to my back."

Fantasy Football

Well Raider Nation its Fantasy Football season and Its hard for me personally to play Fantasy Football being a Die Hard Raider Fan. And I say that because like it or not there are good players on the Chargers, Donkeys and Chiefs but I personally have a problem picking a player from any of those teams.

With that being said I choose the Automatic drafts that I can rank the players by position and choose the order of the position being drafted. Meaning RB, QB, WR, RB. WR,TE,DE,and K and so on each person has there own veiw of how to draft. But it takes the emotion out of the drafts. Meaning I always want to draft Raider players with other (full time players) available.

Does anyone else play fantasy?

Anyway I started a Fantasy League on NFL.com Silver-N-Black Nation if any Raider Fans are interested its a private league. Let me know.

with football season 2 months away. and not much news out there on the Raiders and the fact I saw a Video on youtube called "the Obama deception". From what I remember there are quite a few Obama fans out there in Raider Nation. I decided to talk politics because it brings up some quality debates in the down time.

I myself didn't like either candidate but Obama least of all, and here are some examples why.

1. The 2 most anti-gun people in Washington are Obama and Biden they want to get rid of our 2nd amendment rights and take our guns from law abiding citizens (so only criminals will have guns) because they get them illegally any way.

2. I don't agree with socialized government that he supports.

3. What is so hard about supplying a birth certificate? unless you have something to hide.

4. He was a 4 year congressman to a presidential candidate and now President that's a fast rise. Could there be a power behind the throne as they say? Also prior to the election all I really heard about Obama was he is charismatic and a good speaker. In translation a likable, bullshitter.

But then again all politicians tell you what you want to here and do what they want anyway or do they do what they are told?

Has he followed through with anything he has said he would? Oh yeah he did promise change (not all change is good). We are going from a Democratic country to a Socialist Country some of you should remember the USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic) we are on our way to the USSA (United Socialist States of America).

We need to keep the Government of the People for the People!

Here is a video every American should see it just isn't about Obama it's also about Bush and our government. I'm not saying I believe everything said in this video but it does make you think. Are our presidents just Puppets? I am not a conspiracy theory guy or even that much into politics but we as Americans need to pay more attention to what is going on. There is a saying out there "Money is power" even in Football its all about Money. "show me the money". Why would it be any different in Government.

I know everyone has different political views but, I think we all like our freedom and we all take it for granted. I for one do not like the direction we are heading as a Nation.

But I am optimistic about our Raiders and the Raider Nation GO RAIDERS!!!!!

RAIDERS SIGN UNDRAFTED G JONATHAN COMPAS

The Raiders signed UC-Davis guard Jonathan Compas on Tuesday, soon after they inked Boise State tight end Chris O’Neill.
Compas, 6-foot-3 and 298 pounds, started all 40 games he played for the Aggies, including the final 34. He played 11 games at right offensive tackle in 2006 but moved back to right guard in 2007.
He was named All-Great West Football Conference First Team three straight seasons. Compas is 23.
The Raiders traded for center Samson Satele and signed left offensive tackle Khalif Barnes, right offensive tackle Erik Pears and guard Marcus Johnson during the offseason, but they made it through the NFL Draft without adding an offensive lineman.

RAIDERS SIGN OREGON LB JEROME BOYD

The Raiders signed undrafted free-agent linebacker Jerome Boyd on Wednesday.
Boyd, 6-foot-2 and 217 pounds, started his final two seasons at the University of Oregon. He recorded 80 tackles last season and was named the team’s Bob Officer Award as the player who excelled despite physical adversity and injury.
Boyd. 22, also owns the distincition of posting the fastest 40-yard dash time in Oregon history for a linebacker at 4.33 seconds. He was an Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 his junior and senior seasons.
Boyd played safety in high school and was regarded as the sixth-best prospect at that position. It’s conceivable that he will be converted to safety, given his lack of desired size for a linebacker in the NFL.
Boyd is the seventh undrafted free agent signed by the Raiders since the NFL Draft ended Sunday. He is expected to participate in the team’s mini camp May 8-10 in Alameda, Calif.

RAIDERS SIGN BOISE STATE TE CHRIS O’NEILL

The Raiders added yet another tight end Tuesday, when they signed undrafted free agent Chris O’Neill. He joins Brandon Myers, who was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Sunday.

The Raiders also return starting tight end Zach Miller and backups Tony Stewart and Darrell Strong.

O’Neill, 6-foot-3 and 243 pounds, played at Boise State. He caught 21 passes for 254 and three touchdowns in two seasons. He will compete for a backup spot behind Miller and is a long-shot to make the 53-man roster.

O’Neill signed with the Raiders just as he was about to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He visited the Raiders, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers before the draft.

“I’m in a little better spirits considering what was going on” Sunday, O’Neill told the Idaho Statesman. “… It’s a huge weight off my shoulders. I’m going to do whatever they want me to do.”

On Monday, the Raiders signed: Wide receivers Nick Miller (Southern Utah) and Shawn Bayes (Kent State), defensive tackle Desmond Bryant (Harvard) and linebackers Frantz Joseph (Florida Atlantic) and David Nixon (Brigham Young).

Is it just me or are there more MISSES than HITS? So take what he says with a grain of salt.

A small sampling of some hits and misses for Mel Kiper Jr., who began analyzing college football players and NFL drafts in the 1970s and made his ESPN draft-day debut in 1984:

Hits:

Kiper rated Purdue QB Jeff George as the 84th-best player in the 1990 draft; George was chosen No. 1 overall by Indianapolis; he went 46-78 as a starter plus a 1-2 playoff record, in 12 seasons with five NFL teams. As on-screen graphics were being prepared for 1990 draft show, someone at ESPN asked Kiper why George wasn't on the list of top prospects. "He said, 'Well, I can't put up a Top 40 list and not have the No. 1 guy.' I said, 'Well, put him 40th. If you have to put him somewhere, put him 40th,'" Kiper remembers.

Kiper rated Notre Dame QB Rick Mirer as the 30th-best player in the 1993 draft; Mirer was chosen No. 2 overall by Seattle; he went 24-44 as a starter, with 50 TDs and 76 INTs, in eight seasons with five NFL teams.

Asked to cite a player he was more impressed by than NFL teams were, Kiper points to Towson State running back and kick returner Dave Meggett, who lasted until the fifth round in 1989 before being drafted by the New York Giants. Meggett wound up as a two-time Pro Bowl selection and ranks 37th in league history in all-purpose yards.

Misses:

Kiper rated TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson as tied for the 25th-best player in the 2001 draft, and only the third-best running back that year, behind Mississippi's Deuce McAllister and Wisconsin's Michael Bennett. Tomlinson was chosen fifth overall by San Diego; he ranks second in NFL history with 126 TDs rushing and 14th with more than 11,000 yards rushing. McAllister has run for 49 TDs and 6,096 yards; Bennett has run for 13 TDs and 3,627 yards.

Kiper had QBs Dan McGwire and Brett Favre rated evenly heading into the 1991 draft; San Diego State's McGwire (brother of baseball's Mark) was chosen No. 16 overall by Seattle; Southern Mississippi's Favre was taken in the second round, No. 33 overall, by Atlanta. McGwire made five NFL starts, the last in 1995; Favre was traded to Green Bay before the 1992 season and retired in February with one Super Bowl championship and league records for career TD passes (464), completions (5,720), yards passing (65,127) and regular-season victories (169).

Kiper is the first to acknowledge he has a history of misses in both directions on high picks by the Detroit Lions, who have the No. 1 overall choice Saturday.

He thought Houston QB Andre Ware "was going to be a great NFL quarterback. Didn't turn out that way." Ware was chosen No. 7 overall by Detroit in 1990; he retired after six career NFL starts. Kiper considered Ohio State LB Chris Spielman "a decent-to-good player. I thought he was a fourth- or fifth-round pick." Spielman was taken 29th overall by Detroit; he was a four-time Pro Bowl selection. "Had a great NFL career," Kiper says. "Chris always tells the story: When he woke up at 3 in the morning, he'd look at a picture of me he put on the wall and would do 300 sit-ups, 300 push-ups. It motivated him to say, 'This moron, this idiot, said I couldn't get it done.'"

More recently, Kiper was high on Southern Cal WR Mike Williams; Detroit took him 10th overall in 2005, Williams made seven starts, had 44 catches and two TDs, and was out of the league after three seasons.

"Mike let his weight get up there. Another Detroit Lion. When the Detroit Lions take a player," Kiper says with a self-effacing smile, "I'm not going to hit that player too good."

[Raiders] Raiders Sign Harvard UDFA DT Desmond Bryant With the draft over, the Raiders have signed their first undrafted free agent: Harvard defensive tackle Desmond Bryant, according to a league source. Bryant is one of the more intriguing players they have targeted in the post-draft race to compile additional prospects. Listed at 6-foot-6, 289 pounds, he has unusual speed for his size (4.92 speed) and more than enough upside to merit a flier.

The kid seems to have a terrific story who went from a difficult upbringing to the nation's second-leading tackler last season with 154 tackles.

The Raiders have also signed Kent State wide receiver Shawn Bayes, according to recordpub.com.

From what little info I can find, Bayes is a 5-9, 177-pound receiver with speed to burn. He had 39 catches for 642 yards and five touchdowns last season.

He's an undrafted free agent. Not much more to say. More names and signings to come, though.

Crabtree wants to join Browns, but is feeling mutual?

Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree would love to play for the Browns, which would give the team at least one receiver who wants to be in Cleveland.

Crabtree made his feelings known to the Cleveland Plain Dealer after a recent visit with the Browns went well (according to Crabtree):

“I loved Cleveland and would love to play there,” Crabtree said in an e-mail. “It’s a team with great history and great fans who love football.

“[Browns coach Eric Mangini] is a great coach in this league with a lot of experience and I’d be excited to play for him.

“I was excited by the organization and the facilities. It would be fun to play there and I think they’re close to a championship level team.”

Plus, being the No. 5 overall pick in the draft means a touch more money, too. The Browns could have a glaring need at receiver if they deal Braylon Edwards and Donte’ Stallworth’s legal troubles affect his playing status.

But is the feeling between Crabtree, who’s recovering from foot surgery, and the Browns mutual?

Tony Grossi of the Plain Dealer cites team sources who say the Browns have crossed Crabtree off their draft board because of his diva attitude. Crabtree was described by some in the building as “not nice” during a recent visit.

The Browns have secured last-minute workouts for WRs Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt and Mohamed Massaquoi. Those three are expected to go in the bottom half of the first round, where the Browns could be picking if they do trade Edwards to one of the teams at the end of the order.

NFL.com’s panel of experts are in agreement, however, that the Browns will take Texas DE Brian Orakpo
at No. 5. Our panel has Crabtree landing in Oakland (at No. 7) or Jacksonville (at No. 8).

Crabtree chatted with NFL.com today, and he was asked about those conflicting reports about his visit to Cleveland.

“They’re just reports,” Crabtree said. “Who is to say if they were true or not. I had a good time when I met with Cleveland.”
