Take away the Shootout Point
As the Caps look to jockey for playoff position, (or not) points are all that matters. But for those of us who dont like the free point in OT, and devalue winning a skills competition to climb the standings....
Here is the true indicator of hockey success thus far. Wins and OT Wins
1)NYR - 30
2)Philly - 29
3) Boston - 28
4) Washington 27
5) Toronto 25
6) Jets 23
7) Pittsburgh 22
8) Ottawa 22
9) Devils - 22
The point is, shootouts must be won to get into good playoff position...but does it really matter come playoff time?
"How tall is Steckel?" Crosby asked. "I find it hard to believe that his shoulder hit me in the head ... at 6-foot-5 ... by accident."
Actually since he is 6'5, Crosby's 5'11 head is level with his shoulder, and if Steckel was 5'11, they would of knocked heads, and if Steckel was 7 foot he would be Zdeno Chara...Crosby needs to study a height chart...
I guess Orpik will make it better next game.
Asham as an UFA?
What would you think about adding a guy like Asham to the 4th line next year? He is certainly due a raise and may be worth 1.5 mil+ next year, but maybe Knuble could help him get here?
Im just thinking about grit and toughness on the 4th line, and while he drops the gloves, he also had 10 goals and 24 points and will crash the net. I would give him a 2 year 3.75 mil contract and he can also replace Bradley in year 2.
Thoughts?
