someone here needs to 'fess up

i don't think i saw this mentioned on the game threads from last night but if someone did, please forgive me for starting a useless fanpost.  ANYWAY, driving home and listening to the radio broadcast around the 6th or 7th innning (i don't recall) it was Terry and Rex on the mic.  Terry informed Rex that a fan had e-mailed in a nickname suggestion for Erick Aybar....he told Rex "they say you should call him 'Admiral.'"  Rex laughed and asked "why 'admiral'?"  Terry said nothing but i was hoping he'd explain "it's a trap!" or something like that.

so which HHer sent in the Admiral nickname suggestion????  this is the only place that name originated right?

A's Get Holliday?

...or at least according to MLBTR.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/11/as-acquire-matt.html

Are the A's really moving prospects to make room for a proven vet???

I am kinda shocked by the move.... maybe Beane trades him mid season for a new crop of prospects or something Oakland Athletics-ish like that.

Can't wait to see what our first move will be. All hail the ninja

UPDATE: ATHLETICS NATION

The details are still a little fuzzy, but it looks like the deal is for Greg Smith for sure and probably Carlos Gonzalez and Huston Street.

countdown to Jose's meltdown...

when will it commence and seal the M's fate?

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/325911_mari01.html

By the end of this one, there was no question of winning or losing. The only question was what Lackey meant by a couple of pitches that came in the general vicinity of the head of Seattle right fielder Jose Guillen in the eighth inning.

They didn't make contact, but they spun Guillen out of the box. They could have been a message from Lackey that he was upset that Ichiro Suzuki bunted for a hit with the Mariners down 8-0. Or it could have been a reminder that there's still bad blood between Guillen and members of the Angels pitching staff dating to his time with the Angels in 2004.

"The first pitch was OK," Guillen said. "I didn't like the second one. I hope he wasn't trying to say something. He knows me better than that. I hope that's not it. If I find out that he was trying to throw (at me), then we have a problem."

The all halo opponent team

after this past weekend, Melvin Mora got me thinking that he's a halo pest if there ever was one.  there are other guys who seem to feast on us as well.  Raul Ibanez is another one.  i used to think Willie Bloomquist but that was just a Washburn thing.

who else absolutely loves hitting against the halos?
