"I & #39; m Done"
Raiders insider Greg Papa has predicted unequivocally that the Raiders will fend off Seattle’s effort to pilfer the Raiders’ starting tight end.
"Zach Miller will be back with the Raiders," Papa said on radio in the Bay Area, via Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.
"Al Davis didn’t just give Kamerion Wimbley $29 million to lose Zach Miller to Tom Cable," Papa added. (Cable, the former Raiders head coach, is a member of the Seattle staff.)

Cassel's 08 Preseason Stats
I seemed to remember Cassel barely making the team last year after a horrible preseason so I thought I would go back and do some research. Brady was hurt almost all preseason so Matt got most of the starter reps.
Cassel "won" the job over Matt Gutierrez despite being outplayed, statistically speaking, the entire preseason. Cassel was only 19-of-34 passing and failed to throw a single touchdown pass in the teams four games. By comparison, Guitierrez completed 64% of his passes, threw a pair of touchdowns and put up an 85.6 passer rating (compared to Cassel's 56.6 rating).
Matching the reigning NFL MVP is asking too much, but Cassel has played better than his statistics in the first two exhibition games suggest.
In nine possessions, he completed 7 of 14 passes for 68 yards and one interception.
I don't know if he is just bad in the preseason or just really steps up his game when it really counts but I am hoping he gets it together soon.

Likely Draft Day Trades
Everyone has been concentrating on the chiefs 1st round pick for good reason but unless some team is crazy enough to jump up for that much gauranteed money I just don't see it happening.I think the Chiefs will keep the #3 over all pick because they won't have any other options.
I do think that the best chance to make a trade will be the #3 pick in the 3rd round. After the dust settles from the first day GM's will be wanting jump up to make sure they get their guy in round 3. I think the chiefs would give up that pick for two 3's or possibly a 3rd, 4th and 6th? That will be a very valuable pick on day 2.
6 teams have 2 -3rd round picks, one of which is NE who has a slew of second day picks (as they always do).
I firmly believe Pioli will be making a few moves on draft day I just think they will be on the second day because I don't see many scenarios of getting back into the 2nd round.
With Thomas now in the fold, perhaps the Chiefs will pursue his brother-in law, Jason Taylor. The defensive end is a free agent and he'd give Kansas City a much needed pass rushing presence. Taylor and Thomas starred together for years in Miami.

Chiefs Compensatory Picks
I am trying to think back to last year, did the chiefs lose enough player in FA that would net them a compsetory pick?
Compensatory picks
In addition to the 32 picks in each round, there are a total of 32 picks awarded at the ends of Rounds 3 through 7. These picks, known as "compensatory picks," are awarded to teams that have lost more qualifying free agents than they gained the previous year in free agency. Teams that gain and lose the same number of players but lose higher-valued players than they gain also can be awarded a pick, but only in the seventh round, after the other compensatory picks. Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor. So, for example, a team that lost a linebacker who signed for $2.5 million per year in free agency might get a sixth-round compensatory pick, while a team that lost a wide receiver who signed for $5 million per year might receive a fourth-round pick.
If fewer than 32 such picks are awarded, the remaining picks are awarded in the order in which teams would pick in a hypothetical eighth round of the draft (These are known as "supplemental compensatory selections").
Compensatory picks are awarded each year at the NFL annual meeting which is held at the end of March; typically, about three or four weeks before the draft.
